    Tuna salad
    Yan L.

Dined at the grill and bar, not the restaurant. Went on Thursday late night so no queue and got a window seat through walk-in. Ordered set menu with tuna salad, lamb shank and strawberry dessert. Tuna salad was good and finished it all. Lamb shank came flamed which was cute. Unfortunately the lamb was overcooked and dry inside. After explaining with the waitress, I was offered with a replacement generously, but being full from starter and waiting for dessert I declined it. Dessert was decent. When paying for the bill I saw I was only charged for 20 pound and they waved my dish. Alarm and was really nice and excellent service. Well definitely recommend and come back again

I'm surprised I haven't wrote about this place as its my favourite after work place for drinks. In the heart of Canary Wharf, this pricy but chic place attracts all the office workers and people who have had a hard day's shopping. A bit on the pricey side but great service, attentive, great drinks selection, nibbles are tasty, good out door area for smokers but also great to sit out in the summer and delicious food . I can't really say any more it's definitely worth a go. It does get really busy after working hours and on Friday night. If it's for a quick drink, a birthday celebration or impressing someone out for dinner... It's definitely the place to be.

For a truly enjoyable dinner in Canary Wharf head straight to the best restaurant in the area - Plateau: consistently tasty food, good service and a nice view overlooking skyscrapers and Canada Square. From a rich mushroom velouté to a flavoursome game terrine for starters. Followed by a never-expected-to-taste-so-good colourful parsley tagliatelle with caramelised onion and roast guinea fowl with black trompettes. A cheese course of Brie with truffle is served before a "floating island" dessert of a light meringue with custard. The kitchen is run by talented chefs who worked in Michelin-starred Galvin at Windows and Marcus Wareing restaurants before. The restaurant has quite an extensive wine list, with fine wines available by the glass from a special enomatic machine. The venue consists of Grill, Bar (gets quite busy in the evenings), the restaurant and private dining areas. Modern light furniture makes a pleasant informal atmosphere. Set menus offer are of a really great value. Tasting menu to try a bit of everything is available too. Definitely recommended! Will visit again? Oui! http://estonianfoodie.com

Mojito mocktail before a quick lunch

So, Canary Wharf. A place well known for suits, businesses and high rise towers. This restaurant does seem to fit in, but does offer more than what you would normally expect. I came here for lunch in the week to the grill section of the restaurant. The service is very high end and thorough. Their menu seems very interesting and there is a lot of variety to try. However, I was in a rush and they offer a Express Lunch weekday menu which consist of a main and either a cocktail or glass of wine for £10-12. The only downside was that the express dish is only one dish and wasn't vegetarian. No complaints as I'm not. Food did take a while to come, but it was worth it. Amazing fluffy mash, top quality sausages and incredible red wine jus. Yes it was sausage and mash, but so refined you wouldn't have known. Well worth a visit and if the evening prices put you off, sneak out of the office and pop over for a quick lunch. Visit (Lunch - 01/02/2016)

Taken here by my friend on a recent trip to England. He has always spoken so highly of this restaurant, so of course it was one place I had to visit. He is known here, which was evident as I was introduced to several people, and we were greeted with warmth, hugs, and smiles from all. Angela, the hostess, was charming, gracious, and go so sweet. Now, I can only speak from the bar experience, but it was a pure delight. Diego is a master mixologist, and brought us outstanding cocktails. We sat inside, and as it was getting darker Canary Wharf looked amazing all lit up. There is an outside patio here as well. Well, an indoor, outdoor, patio. It was chilly, but blankets, and heaters are present should you need them. I can't wait to come back here again and dine on, what looked to be, excellent fare. A wonderful experience all around.

Lovely dessert coupled with an Espresso Martini

The formerly industrial area that surrounds the Pearl appears to be teeming with artists who began moving to the area in recent years, lured by affordable housing. If the Hackney Pearl were plunked down in our post-industrial bits back home, already the artists would have been displaced by those who could afford the current extortionate rents. Back to the Pearl: there were picnic tables and benches IN THE STREET at which folk could have lunch, a drink, and a smoke. That's right. It's open air in the middle of the road. Puff away! My pals and I sat closer to the front of the place and had our bevvies: Meantime Stout. Aaaaaah! I love a good stout and a groovy cafe in the middle of seemingly nowhere. As of 2012, that 'nowhere' will be directly adjacent to an Olympic site. So, I guess, in a year the Hackney Pearl will be teeming with business. I say GO NOW before it becomes too terribly overcrowded. To be fair, we'd already eaten elsewhere before arriving at HP, so, although the food looked appetizing, I can barely remember the menu and need to go back with a hunger in my belly for a proper meal, and, of course, another pint of stout.

Reminded me a bit of Bushwick. The decor - very much of the area. Understated but classy. Comfy chairs! Which I never expect in such hipster places like this - you generally get a bench (which they do also have) or something industrial. Service - attentive and friendly without being OTT. Bread course - I love a bread course me, and this delivered big time. Fresh out of the oven with a delicious charry taste which was almost a little fishy smelling weirdly (keeping with the overall theme of the place). Grey mullet tartare - an explosion of flavour: the sauce - oh man. The fish was tender and perfectly seasoned. An incredibly well balanced plate of food - sour, umami and delicious, the yolk added a different texture. Crab crumpet - I had literal chills when I took the first bite. Not often that that happens. It fully lives up to the hype. Their flagship dish and an absolute steal at £16. The crumpet itself was perfect foil for the sweet, creamy brown crab and rarebit topping. Next level delicious. In my top 5 dishes of all time, swiftly followed by.... Curried hake - another in my top 5! The crunch of the crispy potato, the softness of the creamy succulent fish, offset with a zingy, slightly spicy katsu style curry sauce (which I wasn't expecting) which was thick and rich and perfect - an absolute fucking riot of flavour. There was plenty of sauce left so of course I used the remaining bread to mop it up - judge me if you will, frankly idgaf as it was fucking delicious. Peach Melba tart - what a finish! All going along very nicely until I get the crunchy, salty almond brittle in the middle - that's when the party got started boiiiiii! Turned what was already a lovely, creamy, fruity dessert into a world beater - adding crunch and a different depth of flavour. On drinks it was their summer special cocktail Cider Collins - an absolute buzz of a drink, perfect for summer. Zingy af, the cider really shone through but it felt like a traditional Collins. Total winner of a drink. This lunch will stay with me forever. Believe the hype with this place beautiful people!

Everything was excellent but the Scotch Egg was amazing. I asked what it was and the waitress responded Scotch Egg, truly the understatement of the century. It was made with hake and another fish, breaded perfectly and everything came together brilliantly. Other stand-out dishes were an oyster with a great sauce, smoked gurnard which was a unique white fish, mackerel pate (which did have a very strong mackerel/fish taste) and fantastic scallops in a buttery sauce. Definitely recommended.

I'd learned about this restaurant via a YouTube clip from the Financial Times (see link below)…read more Since I'm someone who's very concerned about the state of our Earth, I loved the Zero-Waste concept and wanted to check it out immediately. And so - on a cold December night in 2022 - my husband and I ventured out to Hackney Wick (East London) and soon we entered the warm and spacious restaurant. The staff at Silo is super-friendly and we chatted with our waiter for a while about the menu and the zero-waste concept about the restaurant. We picked a handful of dishes and then enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. I have to say: we loved the flavor of the dishes but we were a bit disappointed with the size of the portions. Granted, we are a bit on the stingy side, so we didn't go for the tasting menu, but I would've hoped that the portions would still be a bit bigger. All in all - love the concept! Kudos on making a difference in the world. Link to YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTSUpDKvZpk

The work they're doing here to promote sustainability and reducing food waste is not only important, but executed to perfection in their dishes. Each bite elevates the concept of "zero food waste" from a potential gimmick in lesser hands, to nothing short of flavor nirvana. A dish as simple and straightforward as "tomatoes with ricotta" messed with my mind by playing tricks on my palette using dashi broth and hemp seed ricotta to interplay fish undertones with peanut butter fattiness and beautiful vegetal tomatoes. The pumpkin seed and fig leaf mole served with charred oyster mushrooms dances on the tongue with sweetness and spice. The care and passion each staff member shows as they explain the concept of each dish shows in the flavors and cooking. The restaurant decor and ambience is refined and beautiful. Silo and its team are doing some really incredible things that will no doubt receive increasing recognition and appreciation as time progresses and as sustainability moves to the forefront of humanitarian causes and concerns.

The first time we came here we brought family from out of town and I got reservations the Friday before which made me a bit skeptical but i was so impressed. It's a bit difficult to find but once you do you're greeted outside and asked if you have a reservation. Inside there's pop art on the wall and a modern feel in the lounge. The view of the Olympic stadium is actually kind of shocking how close it feels. We were seated in the intimate dining area and there were only a few other tables full and some people came in trying to get a table and they were turned away as the tables were booked for later on. I liked that small feel of the restaurant which is something hard to find in London. They serve all English wines except for the champagne which I think is pretty cool. I had the smoked salmon and crab salad to start and the salmon was so delicious as they smoke them in house. For my main I had the filet with truffle dauphiniose potatoes and creamy celeriac mash. The filet was tender, the potatoes were rich and creamy and the mash tied it all together. For pudding, we shared the cheese board and they serve it with seeded crackers and chutneys. There isn't a choice for the cheese which is always hard because my husband isn't a fan of blue or goats cheese or basically soft cheeses in general but I was a happy bunny. On your way out you need to check out the view of all the salmon in the smoking process! The next time we came here on a double date as we had such a great experience the first time. This time I had the pate parfait with the hazelnut salad and it was creamy and the flavours paired perfectly. For the main, I had the turbot with clams and scallops and chorizo foam and everyone at the table was jealous of my food. It was absolutely delicious. We each had a dessert but all I can remember is the golden syrup sponge which is actually baked in the syrup tin, yum. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is great and I can't wait to come here for brunch in the summer on the balcony over looking the canal and stadium.
