    Went for bar snacks and drinks with colleagues, and really enjoyed everything. I had two glasses of "Healthy Soul" -- a non alcoholic cocktail. I absolutely loved it and would return for it. We ordered a combination of squid, popcorn chicken and samosas for snacks. They were all really good, and I particularly enjoyed the popcorn chicken. Ambience was perfect -- a great view and reasonably quiet, so you could hold a proper conversation. Overall a posh environment, and I liked some of their decor and furniture. Service was very good as well. They were very prompt in bringing our orders and kind overall. A great place to go after work if you work in the area.

    I'm surprised I haven't wrote about this place as its my favourite after work place for drinks. In the heart of Canary Wharf, this pricy but chic place attracts all the office workers and people who have had a hard day's shopping. A bit on the pricey side but great service, attentive, great drinks selection, nibbles are tasty, good out door area for smokers but also great to sit out in the summer and delicious food . I can't really say any more it's definitely worth a go. It does get really busy after working hours and on Friday night. If it's for a quick drink, a birthday celebration or impressing someone out for dinner... It's definitely the place to be.

    For a truly enjoyable dinner in Canary Wharf head straight to the best restaurant in the area - Plateau: consistently tasty food, good service and a nice view overlooking skyscrapers and Canada Square. From a rich mushroom velouté to a flavoursome game terrine for starters. Followed by a never-expected-to-taste-so-good colourful parsley tagliatelle with caramelised onion and roast guinea fowl with black trompettes. A cheese course of Brie with truffle is served before a "floating island" dessert of a light meringue with custard. The kitchen is run by talented chefs who worked in Michelin-starred Galvin at Windows and Marcus Wareing restaurants before. The restaurant has quite an extensive wine list, with fine wines available by the glass from a special enomatic machine. The venue consists of Grill, Bar (gets quite busy in the evenings), the restaurant and private dining areas. Modern light furniture makes a pleasant informal atmosphere.     So, Canary Wharf. A place well known for suits, businesses and high rise towers. This restaurant does seem to fit in, but does offer more than what you would normally expect. I came here for lunch in the week to the grill section of the restaurant. The service is very high end and thorough. Their menu seems very interesting and there is a lot of variety to try. However, I was in a rush and they offer a Express Lunch weekday menu which consist of a main and either a cocktail or glass of wine for £10-12. The only downside was that the express dish is only one dish and wasn't vegetarian. No complaints as I'm not. Food did take a while to come, but it was worth it. Amazing fluffy mash, top quality sausages and incredible red wine jus. Yes it was sausage and mash, but so refined you wouldn't have known. Well worth a visit and if the evening prices put you off, sneak out of the office and pop over for a quick lunch. Visit (Lunch - 01/02/2016)

    Taken here by my friend on a recent trip to England. He has always spoken so highly of this restaurant, so of course it was one place I had to visit. He is known here, which was evident as I was introduced to several people, and we were greeted with warmth, hugs, and smiles from all. Angela, the hostess, was charming, gracious, and go so sweet. Now, I can only speak from the bar experience, but it was a pure delight. Diego is a master mixologist, and brought us outstanding cocktails. We sat inside, and as it was getting darker Canary Wharf looked amazing all lit up. There is an outside patio here as well. Well, an indoor, outdoor, patio. It was chilly, but blankets, and heaters are present should you need them. I can't wait to come back here again and dine on, what looked to be, excellent fare. A wonderful experience all around.

Unfortunately, our experience was soured before it even had a chance to begin. My girlfriend and I walked in excited, completely amicable, simply hoping to head upstairs for a bite and drinks. We were greeted by the doorman with an immediate, dismissive "Are you good?" -- not in a welcoming or helpful tone, but in a way that felt skeptical and unnecessarily confrontational. There was no warmth, no "welcome in," no attempt at hospitality. It immediately set an uncomfortable tone. He then proceeded to call upstairs as though he were doing us some sort of favor just by allowing us to go up. The entire interaction felt transactional and judgmental rather than gracious. First impressions matter, especially at a place that positions itself as a premium dining destination. Hospitality begins at the door, not at the table. When we finally made it upstairs, the room was filled with visibly drunk, rowdy groups -- which only made the earlier attitude feel even more misplaced. If that environment is acceptable (and profitable), then two polite guests looking for drinks and food shouldn't be met with suspicion at the entrance. By that point, the damage was done. The initial interaction had already rubbed us the wrong way, and the energy upstairs didn't help. We ultimately decided to leave before even sitting at our table. That's how strongly the first impression impacted us. It's difficult to justify staying somewhere when you don't feel genuinely welcomed from the outset. Duck & Waffle has the potential to be memorable for all the right reasons. But someone representing the brand at the very front needs to understand that hospitality isn't optional -- it's foundational. A simple, respectful welcome would have changed everything. I hope management takes this seriously, because no guest should feel judged or dismissed before they even step inside.

Seeing as I was staying in the Stepney Greene area and really did not want to go to the other side of town for dinner, I found Palmer's Restaurant on my Yelp! app and mentioned it served up Sunday roast dinner. I walked over and made it just in the nick of time, before their last seating. First of all, this is East London and as gritty and edgy as that may be, Palmer's restaurant can only accurately be described as a hidden gem lost among the housing estate and what not. I had the roast beef and it came with all the trimmings, gravy, roasted vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and a good serving of horse-radish sauce. It was perfect for a cold, blustery Sunday night. The portions were filling, the roasted beef was rare and perfect and the service is warm. This is exactly the sort of place I love finding and being taken by surprise; no pretensions, solid good food, great prices and friendly service in a location you would never have thought of. Bonus: the restaurant is located literally right next to Regent's Canal. Come down and walk off dinner by walking along the canal and seeing the barge homes floating on the water.

I loved my meal- the flavors were perfect and I ate every drop. The menu is short and simple and you can tell it's one of those places which does everything well. The restaurant was kind enough to do a half size of the pasta to fill me up which was great to sample a bit of everything. It was al cooked perfectly and the spacing between dishes was great. The atmosphere is relaxing and super friendly. There were two huge groups of 10+ and the staff was quick to strike up conversations with their guests and to check in. I happened to have breakfast included and the nice thing was that you cook receive one cooked item from the menu which was so nice. The only downside was that you could not substitute a cooked item for a smoothie and the smoothie was the smallest thing ever with the biggest ice cubes so definitely not worth it. Words cannot describe how delicious the bread pudding is - I can only imagine that A TON of butter went into making it. Chunks of soft buttery bread stewed in a tangy tomato sauce. Ahhh. Go early if you don't want to queue, or make it a late lunch. Be sure to order the pork/bread pudding dish - you can thank me later.

I know, there have been rave reviews on a number of sites - I know. I saw them too. But what could possibly top the Corner Room? After last week's visit to the Typing Room, I will never doubt another restaurant decision made in this venue (and I hope there are many more!). You have to go to Typing Room. Right now. I don't even know where to start. There is a set menu, of course, but this apparently varies by the day. We went with a vegetarian friend, so if that is you - you will also feel the love. To begin, the set menu (whether you go for 5 or 7 dishes) all includes a group of "snacks". After a couple drinks at the bar and rearing to see the menu, I can't tell you how excited I was to have food arriving at the table without even having to think. And all of it...was just. so. good. And the bread. I'll be honest - I'm hit or miss with bread - sometimes it looks pretty good and it's still warm and a restaurant has some special sort of butter so I'm all over it. Other times it looks like it's been sitting in a corner of the kitchen for the past week. At Typing Room, the bread was a course in and of itself. I'm not kidding. Two types of bread with two types of delish buttery, chutney, goodness. More bread. PLEASE. By the time we got to the smoke deer roe, I didn't think I could possibly have another bite. But I had too - because the remaining two courses were too good to be missed. Service: Literally some of the best I've ever had in London. Setting is similar with the restaurant on the left with very open kitchen when you walk into town hall and a bar to the right. Chef was on premise supervising the kitchen which was nice to see for a weekday lunch. Lots of Beatles and classic rock playing which I enjoyed although one of the other patrons kept complaining about. Certainly didn't interfere with conversation. On to the food the starter you pick from 4 snacks. We had the basil profiterole which was ok but the star was the smoked eel. Then can crab and pea dish followed by cauliflower which were both amazing. The raw beef was topped with what looked like granola and neither of us liked that dish. Too sweet and needed an acid to bring out the flavour of the tartare. The fish course following was also a 5 star. Then the lamb which also was good but have had better. Confit belly was nice but the yogurt didn't add anything and the onions were over charred. Desert started with almond foam and lemon sorbet which was a great palette cleanser and then a very interesting chocolate dessert. Cake almost looks dried out but is the texture of freeze dried chocolate mouse. Very tasty. Overall a couple of misses in execution more than design that I'm sure won't take long to correct. I'd expect this place to get a Michelin star in the near future. The star dishes were well worth coming back for.

I think it was the Morgan! Aside from one of us, most of us opted for beef from steak to steak tartare and they were lovely enough to do a mains portion of steak tartare for my friend. Unfortunately the steak wasn't as great as the boys expected- steak was wonderfully big but that was it's downfall, it wasn't soft enough! And one of my diners had the market fish which was the Dover sole in a Beurre blanc sauce and it was massive. The mains alone are well worth the 30% off! So ups and downs, and I wish I could give it 4,5 stars because aside from the minor steak fiasco, the food was beautiful, the service faultless even when they knew that we were not full paying diners! With drinks and everything, it wasn't cheap and it's something for payday for sure- 5 of us came to about £40+ a head....
