I rang a good number of garages, most of which told me a load of rubbish about what was needed to repair mums car, as a mechanic myself i understand exactly how the dsg box works despite not actually repairing them myself. I didnt tell any garage my trade and acted like a general punter to make sure I found a garage that told me the truth about what needed to be done sadly most didnt, being in the trade I know only too well alot of garage's sadly rip people off. I spoke to Jason and he told me what was likely to be the issue and gave me a min and max price estimate, the fault he believed it to be was exactly what I had found extensive research results prior to calling for quotes. The car was dropped off to them Saturday while they were closed and by midday tuesday it was repaired and ready right in the middle of his price estimate. When I picked the car up the workshop was very clean and tidy and well organised, and they had even given mums car a courtesy wash. I have always done everything to the best of my ability and believed in doing things right. I truly believe I've stumbled on a gem of a company with customer service at the core. I'm an honest mechanic leaving a solid review for a company which shares my values, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Stephens engineering and I will definitely only be making 1 phone call for any auto gearbox repairs in the future.

Tom diagnosed the problem, phoned me with several updates throughout the time I had my car with him and informed me on parts to replace before going ahead with the work. Now I have a new complete clutch assembly, including clutch fork, upper & lower clutch fork bushes, clutch fork repair kit, release bearing guide bush and clutch cable installed. For those who know about French cars these types of jobs are not for the faint hearted, but this was nothing new for the wonder boy genius Tom! My normal garage said I had to get my car to them; how? I had used an associate company of CB Motors years ago and when I contacted them they sent CB Motors to help me. CB Motors did a good job and returned the car to my road when it was finished. Only one slight problem, they returned my keys to the wrong house but quickly discovered the mistake. They retrieved the keys and brought them to me and handed them over in person quite late at night. So I have been back there ever since.

I called Marshall who examined the car visually and confirmed that the manifolds needed replacing. He then gave me a price that was less than a third of the most expensive quote and less than a half of the cheapest quote. Apparently, it was a pig of a job but he just laughed when I got the car back. The work was excellent. Marshall is a true mechanic and knows exactly what he's doing and so I was extremely happy with his work. However, it was not just the quality of his work that impressed me. He had a real easy opportunity to make a few hundred pounds extra by quoting me more for the manifolds than i had been quoted by my previous searches. He knew what the cheapest price was that I could get them for and yet, after managing to get them much cheaper, he told me what he got them for... £1,100 cheaper !! Not only is he a really great mechanic and a trophy winning drifter (racing cars) but he is a real honest tradesman. I would highly recommend his work, his knowledge but also his honesty.
