That's how good they are! Long Review: Contractors are like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're going to get. So I was determined not to get a bad piece of chocolate when I set out to find someone to help me realize a 5-year dream of having an outdoor kitchen and entertainment space. Our home footprint is too small for entertaining more than four people, so we need to rely on outdoor living space to be able to accommodate dinner parties and backyard BBQs. I put together a simple RFP with a few pictures of the current backyard and sent it to four contractors who all had 5-star reviews. It read: "Ideally, we'd like to create a simple outdoor kitchen, a sitting area with a fire pit, a small deck off the master bedroom, and *fingers crossed* an area to grow a few vegetables and fruits. We've tried to visualize how this would work, but could use some expertise to try and fit it all in." I wanted to make sure that we were able to fairly judge each proposal based on the same set of information and criteria, and each was given the same budget range as well. Platinum Paving & Landscaping was the third of the four contractors we met with. Edgar, the owner, met us right on time for the scheduled appointment and was very pleasant, professional, and friendly when we met him. We had the perfect design, and he and his teams set out to build it. Edgar's contract was easy to read and understand, and reflected everything we'd discussed. There was no hidden fees, no pulling one over our eyes, no extra charges that we didn't agree to upfront. Check! His crew is top notch. They are professional, on time, courteous, and REALLY good at their job! Honestly, even though there were a few setbacks (e.g. they had to redo some shoddy plumbing work that we'd had done prior) they asked permission before doing any work, and ensured they got our ok to move forward with a pre-agreed upon price. I am very pleased that I had the opportunity to work with Edgar and Vanessa of Platinum Paving and Landscaping on a small concrete project. The work that they performed was done on time, on schedule, and at a reasonable price. Over the past 2 years since the Covid outbreak, it's been very difficult to find good contractors for small jobs. They promise to call back but they don't. They schedule appointments but are no-call, no-show. That was not the case with Edgar. Edgar was responsive, reasonably priced and made my patio area look great. He explained everything such as the cost, materials, labor and time.
