Dan's store- customer service is not his forte'
    Kelly S.

Review of Plato's Closet: McKnight Road Store Manager: Dan The girls that work here are sweet but here's what happened. We took two bins of clothes in to see if they would buy anything last Saturday. Yesterday, I realized that they didn't return one of the pink Ugg boots that I had taken in to sell. I went in to sell today with the boot in hand The lovely girl at the desk said, yes, she remembered me. They had the boot in the lost shoe bin. Now, they can't find it. So I asked what the policy was for when the store loses items that customers checked into sell. The manager Dan was called. The girls explained to him what happened and he said too bad. I calmly explained to him that the girls at the register had told me the boot was there but no one called me to come pick it up. I thought perhaps he would tell me that we could have a percentage off our purchases today or at least appologize for losing our belongings but no, instead, he said "I know how to run my business" and then hung up on me. I put back my things that my daughters and I were planning to buy. I do not plan to return in the near future.

    Whole outfit from Plato's!

People need to realize that this is a second hand store so if you are complaining about "quality" go buy new.

At the same time, another employee positioned an iPhone near where we were standing, which made us feel uncomfortable and singled out. We are both African American, and the behavior of the employees felt prejudiced and unnecessary. We entered the store fully intending to purchase fragrances, but left feeling disappointed and unwilling to spend our hard-earned money in an environment where we felt judged rather than welcomed.

This particular Nordstrom Rack is in The Block Northway shopping center. This Nordstrom Rack has two floors. The top level contains merchandise for men, children, and home, and the bottom level contains merchandise for women. I focused on the women's clothing. I saw an assortment of shirts, pants, shorts, dresses, coats, and other apparel that previous retailers could not sell. I recognized brands such as Calvin Klein and Nike, but I had not previously heard of some of the other brands. I thought that the prices were low to moderate. I decided to purchase a pair of UnionBay shorts for $23. The cashier quickly and correctly rang up my purchase.

It also is the "closet" for several dozen Pittsburgh-area agencies that help women in need such as women leaving domestic violence. Since its founding in 2001, it has donated millions of dollars of clothing to tens of thousands of women. I recently shopped at Treasure House Fashions. When I entered the store, a friendly volunteer greeted me, explained how the store was organized, and offered assistance. The racks and shelves were fully stocked--in fact, so stocked that the store was no longer accepting donations. The clothes were very well organized by size and type (e.g., pants, shirts, and dresses), and some were from well-known brands. I did not, however, see price tags on most clothes, so I would like to set more of those. Most styles were not my preferred style, but I did find a couple of clothes that I liked.

The layout is easy - size & color - to navigate, and the purses & shoes are also in excellent condition. The pricing seems reasonable given that there is usually 60% off the tag. Last week, I walked out with 2 Talbots sweaters, a pair of jeans and a purse for under $20. Yay, Me!! I am truly, honestly grateful a place like Treasure House exists...I feel great, and I look great because of this special store.

This indoor mall has two floors and over 150 stores. The anchor stores are Nordstrom, Macy's, JCPenney, and Dick's Sporting Goods. Luxury/designer stores include Burberry, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany and Co., Kate Spade, and Tory Burch. The mall also has many lower-priced clothing stores, including American Eagle, Banana Republic, Buckle, Chico's, Express, GAP, H&M, Hollister, J.Crew, J.Jill, Levi's, LOFT, Madewell, PacSun, Victoria's Secret, White House Black Market, and Zumiez. Unfortunately, a few of my favorite clothing stores have closed since my previous review. Several other stores sell shoes and accessories, such as Coach, Foot Locker, Kay Jewelers, Lens Crafters, Pandora, Sunglass Hut, Swarovski, Tumi, VisionWorks, and Warby Parker. The mall also has electronics stores such as Apple and phone stores. Stores for home goods include Crate and Barrel, RH (formerly Restoration Hardware), Tempur-Pedic, and Williams-Sonoma. Current restaurants are Auntie Anne's, Cheesecake Factory, Plaza Azteca, Nordstrom Ruscello, several casual restaurants in the food court, etcetera. Unlike many other indoor malls, Ross Park Mall is not dead. Most store fronts are occupied, and only a few store fronts are empty and awaiting future retailers.
