Fantastic place to shop, the employees were all so friendly and created a very welcoming shopping atmosphere. It happens that they were running their clearance sale, and I was there to get some of those items, and did at extremely great prices! The racks were kept very straight for easy-to-find sizes even though they had been very busy with their sale and lots of clothes to keep track of. I highly recommend this store, as I've been a customer for many years and will continue to go here mostly because of the fine employees they have and really good management, too! read more

This is a big location. The staff was very upbeat and friendly. The store itself was a little hard to figure out the set up, it seemed very random with the different sections and kind of a maze to wander around in. I think a lot of Plato's pricing is dictated by corporate office (I don't know that for sure), so sometimes you find a steal and somes they severely overprice things just based on the brand. If you want Nike's, for example, plan on them being priced $50 or more no matter how basic they are. In this location I feel like they overbuy on the Target and other low-end brands. A lot of the items seemed very worn. The majority was garage sale or low-end thrift store quality. I didn't really feel it was worth my time to dig through the racks. Wish I could give this store negative stars. I have been shopping at Plato's Closet since the stores opened and this is the worst location; ever. The staff here isn't friendly. They never smile at the register. If you bring clothes to sell they will just dump everything back in your bag. They make you feel like you aren't cool enough to be shopping there. Plato's Closet, in Topeka, Lawrence, and Kansas City, have all been top of the line in customer service and price. The only reason I took off one star is because twice I have found flaws in clothing (mind you, they are USED) and they wouldn't take any money off the price because they said they were already priced accordingly and I disagreed. Honestly this is the worst business ever. The people there know nothing when it comes to buying items. Took in Michael kors and a few other good items got $2. They are all high school kids just looking for a paycheck. Everything is jam packed and they never go through the items they have and restock. Rather donate then waste my time. Will not go back to shop or sell. read more

This is a great resale and consignment shop. Very clean and very organized. Don't get me wrong I didn't spend more the 5 minutes in the store. I dropped off my wife and daughter and went to Best Buy next door. But from what I saw while I was in there was cool. All the clothes were in excellent shape and clean. read more

Whenever I find myself at Platos closet I usually do find what I'm looking for when it comes to clothes. As for the workers, they have a tendency to ignore me when I'm standing there waiting to be helped. I bought a pair of shoes there and received 2 for my left foot, but not one for the right. Overall, the customer service is not up to par but this is an affordable place to go if you're looking for clothes. read more

I took in 2 very large bags of all name brand clothing that was less than 2 years old. I also brought in shoes and purses (coach brand). They were done going through my stuff in less than 20 minutes. I was offered $25 for a handful of items. When I got home, I looked through the bags and most of my clothes were still perfectly folded and hadn't even been touched or looked at. I have given Plato's a lot of business, but not anymore. The young girls working were too busy talking and getting their order in for someone to go grab them food across the street to even look at what I brought in. I'm extremely disappointed. read more

Ok here's the 411 folks, me and my buddy ole pals walked in here one day this summer and were very unimpressed (angry face emoji) . We thought this was like a unisex place we could grab some black jeans and taper them on the sewing machine, or maybe some sick flannels you know, but nope. Instead what we found was that 95% of the store was women's stuff. And get this.... THEY DON"T EVEN SELL TIMBS???? So we ended up getting like one shirt, then at the check out we were overlooked by this very scolding brunette young lady. Just the most tragic checking out experience both my friends and I have ever had. I still remember the name on the name tag, very haunting I must confess. Her name was Marina. Turns out she is a student at Topeka High. One of my Friends who attends there is transfering to topeka west because of her this next semester, God knows I would too smh. Although the store was well organized & clean, I was appalled at the horrendously rude staff members. While helping my younger sister shop for her senior pictures, the young ladies were unhelpful and flat-out inconsiderate. There was a specifically outrageous instance in which we had asked for a dressing room and one of the young women literally rolled her eyes and asked how many items we had in a snarky, full-of-attitude fashion. We will never be returning to this store in which no care for customer satisfaction is to be found. What was supposed to be a nice experience for my sister and I turned into a dramatic ordeal and I was VERY far from impressed. I would suggest spending your money elsewhere. read more

Plato's Closet sells used clothes ranging from teen to young adult styles. They have a wide variety of clothes and accessories. I love shopping here and always end up buying something! The prices are very reasonable. I've sold clothes here as well and I usually get quite a bit of money (when I'm not spending some of that cash buying something after browsing). Most of the staff is very friendly. read more

I spent a good hour looking around this store while selling a bunch of clothes. I will say they have a large selection of inexpensive but still fashionable clothes; that is definitely a plus. My rating is based on customer service, though, because I am used to browsing a store while the clerk decides how much to pay for the clothes, and when they are done, notifying the customer. I really thought this was the case here but it wasn't; I came up to the clerk and she was busy each time so I figured she would notify me. She didn't. I thought the pricing was decent but I'm not at all happy about waiting, or the condition of my property after the clerk sorted through them. I had a zip lock of jewelry I took to be sold, but I found all of the jewelry at the bottom of my clothes basket when I got home. read more
