On a positive note, we now have no shortage of Christmas and birthday presents. As mentioned, Mudd Studio offers wheel throwing and hand building workshops of various lengths (1 day, 3 day, etc.) They also offer studio membership. As a member, you have 24 hour access to the studio as well as use of the equipment, supplies, glazes, etc. My wife has never mentioned a negative thing about the place or people there - only that it is a positive, supportive and inspiring community. Its location in Chinatown (Smith Street) makes it a great addition to the local art scene. Support local businesses!

Our instructor, Paola, was fantastic--she explained each step clearly and gave us plenty of space to experiment and practice at our own pace. She struck the perfect balance between guidance and freedom, and I always felt supported. Between the two of us, we made four pieces: two cute little ice cream bowls, a pretty little green cup, and a small planter that I'm absolutely in love with. The class was fun, relaxed, and such a great way to connect--not only with each other, but also with the other classmates in our small group. I can't wait to go back and keep learning (and creating)!

I don't know exactly what he builds or does, but he's having fun and the price is reasonable. My only suggestion would be to provide parents with pictures of what the kids make and share it through email or private website. The kids do bring back a paper of what they did for the day, I would just like to see what my son's creations looked like.

They seem to take on too many children. I volunteered for a few sessions while my son was in the…read moreprogram. They were short-handed and asked for volunteers. The "instructor" was young and had no experience working with K-3 students. There were about 15 children and she was way too quiet of a speaker for most children to even hear her let alone focus. She had them sit in the beginning of instruction and told them the lesson for the day. It was obvious though that she lost most of them within 10 minutes. By the end of the "lesson" (maybe 20 minutes or so) even the most concentrated learner had tuned her out. Then the building portion was in groups. Many fought over - well just about everything and she had no control or insight on how to deal with all of that. There were about three little boys that would run outside of class and she didn't even notice. I had to run outside to bring them back in. I just can't get myself to register him again. He can build at home with his friends and family.

We recently had an event on Leeward CC campus, and we wanted a petting zoo for the students to…read moreenjoy. Our original choice bailed out on us and we invited Nalo Keiki Paniolo and they jumped to the call and accepted our invite on short notice. We were able to book their Small Kine Zoo. They showed up on time and the students had a wonderful time being able to engage with their animals. It was especially memorable for our keiki from our Children's Center who wait so patiently to be first to experience a live petting zoo and receive some awesome education. We received great feedback from students and faculty that had the chance to experience the live petting zoo for the first time on campus. Six wooden picnic tables overlooking the stream. A refrigerator to store the cake and drinks. Sinks for handwashing. Areas for kids to run around and play. The teacher guide Pauline was so patient. Pauline was there to help with taking kids on a hike, craft making activities and a trip to the river for fishing. The small hike was manageable. Craft making was a way for kids to be creative. Fishing for krill and toads was a way for the kids to burn excess energy. Bring sunscreen and lotsa bug repellent! Such a fun event outdoors and a learning experience even for the adults!

This place is located a in a residence. Rowena's decorating impressed me not once, twice but three…read moretimes. I ordered Bday cakes for my two youngest kids and she hit on the nose what I wanted. Cakes were beautiful and were clean. The hello kitty cake was a Red velvet with cream cheese frosting, this was delish,cake was moist and was a hit. The Mario Bros cake was chocolate with butter cream icing, the cake was a bit dry but and the decos were falling before the party started, so now I know not to go with this type is frosting. But the decoration on this one was so nice my son did not want to cut into it. A few days later by the request of coworkers I ordered another cake for a surprise for my commander, all I told Rowena was make the cake into the rank. Everyone at my work were very impressed, it turned out beatiful. The cake was a vanilla cake which btw was perfect with fresh strawberries inbetween the layers. The frosting sweetness was perfect! This cake was gone in just a few mins because everyone wanted more than seconds.
