Hello, We arrived 30 minutes before closing and ordered an Aloha smoothie and a Poppi Lemon Lime drink. Strangely, we ordered first but ended up waiting over 30 minutes for just one smoothie. During that time, we saw two other customers walk out with their smoothies, even though they had ordered after us. When we asked the staff about our order, they didn't respond just started making it without explanation. They refused to give us a refund. It seemed like there were only two workers, and with no ticket or order tracking system, they appeared disorganized and forgot our order entirely. We requested a refund, but again, no words. The owner should consider investing in an order printer to help the staff manage better during busy times. Additionally, we experienced what felt like discriminatory behavior. The African American employee didn't greet us when we walked in, even after we asked three times what time they closed. It was the other worker, who spoke with a French accent, who finally answered us. That same employee then proceeded to serve white customers who arrived after us, while we continued to wait. After 30 minutes, we politely asked about our order again and said we'd prefer a refund if they didn't intend to make it. The French-speaking employee looked confused and turned to the other worker who appeared to be in charge of making smoothies. The whole situation felt dismissive and unfair. The African American worker didn't even clean the blender before making ours even though he did that before making the orders for the white customers. Unfortunately, this experience was deeply disappointing and discriminatory. I won't be returning. I couldn't even get the refund I wanted. The smoothie was meh. read more

Playa Bowls is my favorite of the fruit bowl chains, and I recently went to the Times Square location for a lunchtime bowl. Small location, but they do have a few tables and counter seating. The food was ready fairly quickly considering how busy it was, and the staff were friendly. I got the mucho mango bowl (without coconut), and it was fantastic on a hot summer day. All the fruit was fresh, and the bowl was well-blended. Times Square has become overrun with fast food chains, so this is a good option for something healthy and different if you're in the area. read more

I've never tried Playa Bowls before but kept seeing new locations opening up in NYC. I was curious and decided to dig more about it online. I picked out this location because it was conveniently located near the 49th Street subway stop on the N/R. Their menu is huge and there are many options to choose from (acai, pitaya, smoothie, etc.). I ended up ordering the Nutella Acai bow which had acai, granola, bananas, strawberries, coconut and with Nutella drizzle. It came in only one size, but the portion was perfect and really filled me up. The acai was so refreshing, not too sweet, and had perfect consistency. The fruit tasted very fresh and perfectly ripe, and I loved the big slivers of coconut. I liked the granola that was used which gave it that nice crunchy element. I also thought they were very generous with the toppings. They asked me if I wanted a double dose of Nutella and I say YES. I'm honestly surprised by how much I liked the acai bowl here. It felt like I was eating a healthy dessert and scrapped the bottom of the bowl. So glad they are opening a location near work, and I can get these more often. read more

Hi! I went to this location for the first time. I ordered my usual BOOSTER smoothie.. I go every week to the Chelsea location so I know what the Booster is supposed to look and taste like. The one I got from this new location was basically Peanut butter smoothie. The whole cup was wayyyy too much peanut butter that the smoothie was BROWN not the normal green. Went there Yesterday around 10h pm before going to bed as my sugar blood was getting too low and as my hotel just nearby . Got a Strawberry banana smoothie with coconut milk and was delicious . Service was pretty good in general even tho was pretty loud and noisy in the store . But it's NYC after all and we're on one of the biggest street but definitely a sympatic little place for sure read more

Not sure why but the workers here are just not friendly and I swear portion is literally 20% less than other play bowls. I live on 47th st and this location is very convenient but I literally walk to the one on 57th street just to get my açaí bowl, no joke, it's always consistent with service and portion size. read more

Had plastic in one of our bowls. When we alerted the staff and gave them the plastic, they just threw the plastic away without any apology or explanation. When we told them that we wanted a refund for our two bowls, they had an attitude like we were causing trouble. We had to prod and ask them where the plastic could have come from, and they answered without investigating "probably from the blender", and kept working on the next order. They did not seem to care if the bowls are dangerous to the clients and were emotionless and rude when handling this issue. Additionally, the strawberry in my other bowl wasn't fresh at all. I was a big fan of Playa Bowls before this, but after seeing the complete disregard for customer service and safety, I will not be returning. read more

I came here after work to place an order for a smoothie. I waited in line, then stood for 10 minutes and watched as a worker cleaned out bins while 2 orders sat unattended. I lived in Brazil for two years (where açaí bowls first became popularized) and these açaí bowls are legit and super tasty. Typically in Brazil they don't serve it with Nutella--so that's kind of an American "add on," but people seem to like it--so it is what it is.
