The first time I visited was with my husband back in July of 2018. Then, in September of 2019 I returned while on a trip with my mother. Then this past Saturday, July 3, 2021, my husband and I returned with another couple and the food and drinks have been delicious each time. Not wowed. Went here for lunch and it was just ok. My chicken enchiladas were not very flavorful and my husbands burrito was more like an enchilada. He did like the pickled jalapeños in it. Sooo good! We ate off the lunch menu and we were more than full when we left. There were 4 of us. 2 had Chimichangas and 2 had the chicken burrito. Both were outstanding. My hubby is from Mexico so we wanted some real street tacos not some yuppie version, the first night we ate there we had shrimp street tacos, ki enchiladas & steak Mexicano it was all AMAZING! The second time we had enchillidas suiza, al pastor quesadilla & choc Mool shrimp again we ate it all, so amazing. Their guacamole is some of the best I have ever had. The atmosphere was really neat, it's small and decorated really well for Christmas and everyone was so nice and attentive. Now the absolute best part of this restaurant was the food!!! Holy cow, we got queso to share for an appetizer and it was so flavorful and creamy. Absolute best queso dip I've had. I got the combination plate with a cheese enchilada, a chicken chimichanga and rice and beans. This tasted like authentic Mexican food, it was so full of flavor and cooked to perfection! My husband got three chicken enchiladas with green sauce and rice and beans and absolutely loved it as well. We will be back again! My husband loves Mexican food and pulled up this restaurant, when we pulled in the empty parking lot and looked at the building we weren't too sur we wanted to go in but we did. What a pleasant surprise! Came here on Cinco de Mayo with 8 people. It was a bit early so they were able to put two tables together for us. Super cute, quaint place that has a truly authentic Mexican feel to it. About 8-10 minutes after we were seated, the place quickly filled up. To the point several groups just left. We ordered chip, queso and guacamole to get us all satiated while we waited for the food. The guac was average. Honestly, mine is 10x better. But beyond that, all the other food was decent. I had the chicken tortilla soup, which had some gnarly chicken pieces, but all in all was very good. Everyone else enjoyed their food, but nothing jumped out as a gotta have. I wish yelp would allow 1/2 stars, as I'd give them 3 1/2, but for a busy May 5th I'd say they held their own. In full disclosure, I don't particularly care for Mexican. I think Chuys is amazing. He was playing when I picked up the order and it was beautiful and so chill. You would miss this place if you were driving through and looking at the resorts. What a nice little find. This was our first time to this location. Small and charming. Service was excellent. The food outstanding. The owner offered up his suggestions which we took his advice on. He stopped by later to play and sing while we ate. Nice touch. The only drawbacks (and they are small) is the chip basket was extremely small for a party of five. This would have barely been a blip on the radar if not for Yelp. We were on our way home from Orlando and wanted to stop and grab a bite to eat in St. Augustine. Playa Chac Mool is on Anastasia Island and - like a few mention - if you blink, you'll miss it. Upon entering it's pretty easy to figure out that many moons ago this might have been someone's house. If they were inviting me over for the kind of Mexican PCM puts together, I would go every time! Having been at the park all day, we weren't honestly THAT hungry, but knew we should eat something. We shared an order of guacamole and the fish tacos. It comes with three and you can order one additional, so we did so that we would each have two. Two fish tacos and a couple of bites of beans and rice later and I was a happy camper. The fish was fresh and (being a skeptic) I was quite satisfied with our order. Cute little family run place. Okay. I've been here before. The food is good...not the absolute best I've had but for the price point, very good. The owner is very hands on and talks to all the customers. He also makes his own salsa picante in a Mayan style salsa which was excellent. I don't write a lot of reviews, but this place is such a hidden gem. If you ask him to sing, he will bring out his guitar and serenade you table side. For the price, to be in a family atmosphere that the owner is so involved and approachable was so wonderful. This is always on our list of places to visit when in St. Augustine. Great Mexican food with great hosts. The owner is always friendly and treats you like you're his favorite customer. He also just LOVES to sing and will do it at any opportunity if the place isn't busy. I'm always interested in the available Latin American beers that a Mexican restaurant carries, and this one has most of them. Dos Equis, Victoria, Imperial and Modelo I believe were all available. No Carta Blanca, but very few restaurants nowadays carry it. The food has always been good/great. I've tried a variety of what they offer, from fajitas to nachos. Always been pleased. Just a nice free standing place on the outskirts that you're liable to drive by often and miss. We even forget where it is sometimes. If you miss it, turn around and drive back.
