Deserving of an updated 4 star review for still bringing amusement park fun plus mini golf, haunted house, midway games, climbing wall and concert entertainment to the city in 2025. I had a blast on their thrill rides such as the OG wooden roller coaster which was built way before we were born in 1958...yup, its age does add an extra rocky and spooky element when you are on this ride. Their mini golf course was cute and with enough challenging designs for family fun. Hole in one at hole 16 and 17 was a thoughtful and encouraging design too. Paid parking available and free street parking is possible if you park further away. Staff is overall quite friendly. Vendor foods' costs are of course usually higher at an amusement park but hot dogs, burgers, pizza, donuts and cotton candy are the standard food options at an amusement park. Tips: Recommend to visit on a less sunny or even cloudy day to avoid the heat while in lineup. Do bring a hat or sunscreen on sunny days and stay hydrated. Look for online promotion when buying admission tickets for better value and please don't compare Playland to Disneyland. I chose to visit Playland when PNE is not open for less crowds and spent about half a day there. Put your hands up on the rides and scream for a good time :) read more

Went to playland today with the idea in mind that the passes we bought were for admission + rides. Nowhere on any sign on the premises, or on the website where you purchase tickets did it say we were paying for GENERAL ADMISSION only. We were unable to go on any rides, and one supervisor told us it was our fault because we didn't read the sign posted on the ticket booth (in person). I went to double check, and there was no signage posted indicating that we were paying for only general admission. It wasn't the staffs fault at all, as it does say no refunds, and all the staff were super pleasant and understanding, but we just wished that it was extremely clear that during certain weeks of the month, entrance was admission only. Was super upsetting to hear that. Again, staff were super pleasant and gave us some coupons to still get on rides, and we really appreciated it. While waiting for one of the roller coasters, a group of 4 young boys (approx 8 y/o) were cutting in line SPECIFICALLY in front of my boyfriend and I, and seemed to find it funny to do so. One of the boys moms saw this and looked at us and shrugged. She did NOTHING to discipline her children. These kids seemed to be targeting my boyfriend and I, and would only cut in front of us. At one point, they were climbing over the metal bars so they could get back in front of this. They didn't stop, so eventually I yelled at them once they started trying to SHOVE past us. We told the ride operator, and thankfully they weren't let on. Leaving the ride, the families of the kids were extremely rude to us and got mad at us, yelled at us and made gestures. Why is it our fault that your kids are extremely rude and have no manners? After yelling at the kid, they were laughing and smacking their butts at my boyfriend and I. I wish there was more security around, and that there were stricter policies on younger children being granted the privilege to ride in adult-majority spaces. Words can't describe how rude and disgusting these children and their families were being towards us. This entire experience made us not ever want to come back. I couldn't imagine if we had paid over $100 for entry + the ride pass and we had the same experience of these kids and their families harassing us. Absolutely disgusting. read more

Attended the PNE summer fair this year on their very last weekend! I love their summer fairs, but this time I thought their food selection was not as good as last years. :: Pig racing - they had their petting zoo open which had many farm animals and a pig race! We were so excited for the pig race, we dropped everything to make sure we make it. However, we were pretty disappointed... the race was for 20mins in total but we only got to see the pigs for probably 1min. They only did two races. The space was also very tight so it was hard for people to see, on top of that, there was no ventilation so it got very stuffy and hot. Considering this is a part of their summer fair, it would've been nice if they some water coolers or fans. :: Superdog show - hands down best part of the fair!! The show was for 30mins and we got to pet the dogs after which was amazing. The show itself was very humorous and had lots of fun elements. Now the food - :: The Tochi YVR flights were amazing, 5/5 would recommend (especially the coconut one) :: Slush Zone - we got their slushies from the Slush Zone which came in funky bottles that looked big but did not hold a lot of fluid. You had to pay $2 to refill them which was not too bad. :: Shrimp Basket from the Shrimp Basket stall, pretty good! The Shrimps were fried to perfection. I bought advance tix to Playland for a very good price ($116 for 4) so we drove there to rope drop and, a half-hour before opening, were well back in the line. If you have a thrill ride enthusiast, they will enjoy it there. Lines really varied in length but we rode everything we wanted to at least once, and left around 3 - it was super warm this day, and there wasn't much shade there. We found one mister in the entire place (please install more!!). We got food at the grilled cheese place, it was fine and reasonable value. The fried cauliflower was quite tasty and unhealthy, lol! Went here for Fright night, did 6 of the 8 haunted houses, didn't go on any rides, nice little amusement park. Parking across the street or take your chances in one of the yards down the street, price for parking is the same for the official lot on in someone's yard or driveway in the neighborhood. We choose the official parking lot. Well organized and we had no incidents while we were there. None of the big thrill rides at major amusement parks but a nice place for a day out with the kids. read more

Inside out: there was a lot of construction around the area when we tried to go, we parked on a lot that was a bit far away and I think that was my friends fault -but it was very difficult to follow the signs where we needed to go to enter. The park overall was very clean, it seems like it was in a stage of transition so I didn't feel there was a lot to do but there was enough to do to fill a few hours of the afternoon. We were there for a work function, so I don't think it's geared as much to adults. There were very few opportunities for shade while waiting for a few rides and that was rough (the waits weren't insane). We tried the waterslide ride and that was pretty fun, I absolutely loved the Beast and the tall swings! The catering food was not bad at all, not incredibly impressive but definitely picnic/bbq food and well presented. The event area was comfortable and had almost enough seating, people rotated through enough that it worked out. I'm not sure what stage of transition they're in right now but it was overall a very fun time. I was so excited for this but it is literally such a joke. You pay $$$ for the pass for all the rides, but when you get there it's a 2 hour wait for each ride. We went mid week hoping it would be better.. nope. We didn't even do a single ride the lines were so bad, none of the rides were worth the wait to us. Save your money unless you enjoy standing around for hours and hours, paying hundreds of dollars for nothing. I love Playland. I grew up with Playland, but as a parent I now realize how much my parents loved me. Why? It's not cheap to bring your kid here. My favourite rides include the Coaster and the Swings which still give me thrills as a middle-aged man. It seems that every year I visit, the log ride or "Flume" is not running. It was perfect for hot days to cool off from being drenched as your log crashes into the water. There are a few new rides that look super intense and worth a try if that's your kind of thing. You can take a break from the rides and check out the midway filled with carnival games giving away stuffies of all shapes and sizes. I was disappointed to see the prices have become ridiculous though. Games are now crazy expensive. $5 -$6 a game is crazy. Even more so when it's for the smallest prizes. So why is it still four stars when it seems I'm kinda down on the place? It's part of growing up in Vancouver and filled with memories. For many, you first see it as a toddler, then as a teen, and then as an adult and perhaps a parent. At each age, you see it differently and I think those experiences are unique from each other. If you ignore what's happening to your wallet (or your parent's wallet), this place is fun. So stuff yourself with cotton candy and drink way too much soda, get on some rides, feel sick, and then do it all over again! read more

Overall, it was just disappointing - especially the atmosphere swings. Gary - a local security guard forced my friend to leave the lineup after waiting 1 hour for the ride. Right when we made it to the start of the lineup - next in line to go on, he said he "saw" her leave the lineup. Which is incorrect - when I showed him proof and others vouched for us he still wouldn't let her on the ride. I hope this issue can be fixed in the future. I would never have thought I'd make it here 2 years in a row. Day 1 is always nuts & the PNE ran another great gate entry promotion - kids 13 under free & adult with sporting top paid $2. Swwweeeeet! My niece & nephew after last year decided it would be our tradition & for the PNE visit we would call ourselves - Just us 3! Hmmmmm a tshirt with that on it maybe in the works!?! So I'll start with the greats about the PNE - food options galore, entertainment, people, customer service staff, water fountains, great concert lineup options, animals at farm, Super Dogs, interactive display booths, beer garden & market place for all your knick knacks. The bad - not enough benches to sit on, need fresh new entertainment at Pacific Coliseum (Super Dogs can't keep it going by themselves - no one appreciates the other acts - year after year). Way more mist fans blowing cool air would be greatly appreciated during this summer heat wave! Place them everywhere. Start the major concert artist entertainment earlier in the day (ie 5pm) - why does it always start later!? Most of us have been up early to get here & have been wondering around the PNE / Playland grounds for hours all ready - so when the artists performing yell out ... 'clap your hands get up off your feet' ... I'm like what - you do that - I'm beat up tired & exhausted! Have a few DJs strategically placed around the PNE grounds spinning tunes. Everyone loves the sound of music! $48 bucks for all day ride pass!?? WTH!?? Come on now PNE you've got to do better! It takes on average a 30 minute wait for some of the popular rides then another 10mins to complete the whole experience. You do the math on say 5 popular rides! Offer discount coupon deals that can be used to purchase food! It gets hella expensive after one has tried the various food options - which are tasty & delicious! I recommend - the soft serve ice cream at Soft Serve - the amazing corn dogs (try the jalapeno cheese corn dog) @ Corn Dogs - for classic deluxe burgers @ Jimmy's Lunch - for tacos @ Tacos & Totchos - the classic BeaverTails. Now one can also go crazy & try the weird concoctions like deep fried KitKat bars, Cricket Caramel Apples or Charcoal soft serve ice cream! Good luck! Do not drive here! Way too much traffic & trying to find parking is nuts! Furthermore getting your car out will take forever - traffic on Hastings & Renfrew gets super crazy. You're better to be picked up at the end of the day & head towards Dundas St to go west & McGill St to go eastward. Way faster than being stuck on Hastings! During my youngling years, this was the place I would look forward to coming every year with my parents, almost second best thing besides Christmas. It's almost like a tradition, at least once every year but missed one year cause was away on a trip. Since my first time here, I could see a lot of things have changed. Things changing with time are sometimes unfortunate but understandable, it's the way to survive and meet the current demands and situation. But at the same time it also takes away the true foundation and fundamental it was build on. Fast forward it all to this year, Playland/ PNE 2022. There's really not much to say other then total disappointment. First of all, all the ride passes and ride tickets were sold out online a day or two before the Labour Day long weekend, I thought it was an online glitch, ride passes sold out?!? Since when?!? When I arrived at Playland, I could see signs posted everywhere all ride passes and tickets were sold out and if you have a ride pass and wanted to upgrade it to a rapid pass to bypass the long lineups, you have to pay extra. Literally, "WTF!!" Went through my head! Okay whatever with the rides. As I paced down to the carnival games, none of the places accept cash. All the food vendors and carnival games at Playland only accepts debit or credit cards or Reloadable Playland gift cards, WTH!! This was like being in a programmed and dictated game simulation. All the fun of an amusement park and carnival that I am used to growing up with just vaporized. The only thing that hasn't changed was the price increase for everything from entrance fee to food to games. The whole point and fun of an amusement park and carnival is to let loose and have fun and pass it onto generations to come; eating all the overpriced crappy food but loving them at the same time, playing and trying to outwit the carnival games with all the cash in our pockets for a stuffie that probably worth less the $5, and dragging our friends or siblings or family members on rides because we wanted to see who's going to puke first. Well, very unfortunate this year was a big disappointment on how Playland was managed and setup. Totally makes no sense and totally took the fun out of an amusement park; the Playland I once knew and grew up with became no funner then watching a YouTube clip of someone riding the merry go around for 5 minutes. If this is how Playland and the PNE is managed in the future years then it's not worth coming anymore, better of visiting amusement places elsewhere, unfortunately the new generations wouldn't be able to experience and have fun like some of us did before. Maybe I'm just old, but Playland has really gone downhill since I was a kid. Everything seems dumbed down, and frankly, the rides are a total ripoff. You have to buy a PNE gate pass ($20) to be able to use your Playland pass ($31). So if you're with someone, you're now out over $100 and you haven't even gone on a ride or eaten yet. What I really don't get is why they took down many good rides and replaced them with crappy new ones. For example, the new Ferris wheel isn't that much bigger than the original (red) one. The Wildmouse is gone, and so is the classic potato sack slide. The new one is probably only half the height, and way more narrow. Another thing I don't get is why there are so many similar rides. For example, there is a kids' version of the Hellevator, and a smaller version of the Atmosfear. You'd think they'd just tear down the old one. Even though it was a Thursday, the lineups were insane. Actually, I should rephrase that. The lineups were not that long, but the rides simply don't "process" enough people. It took over an hour to get to the Atmosfear! Fortunately the Hellevator was much shorter (maybe 10 minutes). And many of the other rides (such as the Pirate ship) had no lineup at all! Yay! The rides I would recommend are the world-famous Coaster (wooden one), and Hellevator. The Coaster looks rickety, and frankly isn't that high either, but it really is world-class. This is, quite simply, the most fun and one of the scariest rides. It has no fancy loops or anything, but because the restraint on the cars don't exactly close tight enough, half the time you literally feel like you're going to fall/fly out of the thing. Always a pile of fun. As for the Hellevator, again, it's not the scariest ride, but it's fast, it's definitely hair-raising, and there's nothing like the sensation of free-falling as you're nearing the top of the shaft. The glass house is a classic. I still remember the solution from when I was 5 years old. They haven't changed it at all. Be sure to walk with your hands in front of you though, so that you don't get a panel to the face. Bumper cars are classic too. This ride was probably originally built in 1960. The cars are totally ghetto, but it's always good for some fun. The Corkscrew is a disappointment. Sure, the first 2 loops (corkscrew) are fun, but after that you're just riding these gentle dips, and nothing scary happens. For the reasons, the Coaster blows the Corkscrew out of the water. Overall I guess Playland is one of those things you can do once, but it looks like I won't be back for a while. read more

Playland and PNE has been renewed for me since I can relive the good ol' days through my daughter. The old favorites are Coaster and the Swings. They still have Pirate Ship and Starship as well. However, they got rid of Wild Mouse (for good reason, it didn't seem safe to me) and Dragon (too bad because I loved this as a child). I wish they can add even more rides for the younger kids next year. There's only maybe 5 or 6 rides the under 4 feet kids can go on. The Fair at the PNE consists mostly of things you don't need. If you search through all the unnecessary junk, you'll find some great deals. We bought a set of pans that needing replacing anyway. I still enjoy myself at Playland and PNE, but it's more expensive than I remembered. It could be inflation or it could be 70% of the park hasn't changed so it doesn't seem worth it sometimes. My friend, her boyfriend, and I came here on a Saturday night Halloween weekend. There was about a 40-minute line to get inside the park. We had already bought our tickets in advance from 7-11 to save some extra money. The reason the line was held up somewhat was due to the security check. Once inside they have females go one way for searches and males go into another line. Our first line was about 30 minutes to get into one of the haunted houses. The haunted house was lame and I think maybe one person jumped out at us. Next, we got into a 45-minute line for the wooden roller coast. The line moved slowly as they had maybe 2 cars running at a time. I would recommend riding with another person in the car as I flew out my seat multiple times. We did find some short lines throughout the night but the rides were not that impressive compared to other amusement parks that I have been to around the United States and a few other places around the world. I do recommend going on the revelation ride however it is an extra charge. It allows 4 people at a time and goes quite high and fast. The only bad thing on our particular night is it got quite cold outside. We were on top waiting for them to unload people from the other car and it was very windy and cold at the top. read more

I have to say meh.... My company had events here for the last 3 years and i have to say its great for kids. But for my age, I don't think its that great. I find the place pretty dirty. I have outgrown the rides. As well, its quite pricy for the day pass. During the PNE the fair its a bit better because they bring in more rides. But the ticket cost $16 and the pass cost $42.50. That's pretty pricy. Instead I bought the 30 tickets for $42.50. most rides cost 4 tickets and some 5 tickets. or you can buy per ticket for $1.50 each. still not cheap. The have replaced some rides due to safety issues. But its good that they have been up to date with the safety and maintenance of each rides. But like I said I have pretty much outgrown them. read more

The kids and I spent half a day here and we had a super time! Sure, if you're going to compare this amusement part to, say, Disneyworld, it's going to pale in comparison. Badly. But why compare? This is a fair, an older (more traditional) venue. The kind of place that has farm animals and concerts (free with admission!) and carnival games and big-ass corn dogs and elephant ears. It's a totally different kind of park, and both have legit pluses. Prior to visiting, I checked the PNE website and saw, under "discount days", that we could get 2-for-1 ride passes on Wednesday. So we were able to get the unlimited rides for two teens for $45. I also got discount entry tickets at 7-11 prior to coming here so, again, we saved a bit of money (entry cost $9 per person as opposed to $14). Just wish we could've saved some money on parking; that cost $20. My two teenagers loved the rides. From the traditional pirate ship and Cyclone and teacups and wooden rollercoaster to the newer rides like the terrifying "Beast", they had a blast. It was nice to hear them laughing so. I was impressed that the women's bathrooms were clean and there were tons of food choices (not all obscenely unhealthy, too). read more

Don't waste your time and money, I went from 6pm-11 I rode the wooden coaster and the beast, and was turned away from a haunted house by staff. This is the response I got when i complained about wait times. "Fright Nights has capacities in place, that are less that 50% of the actual capacity of our park, with a goal that our guests are not waiting in lines for longer than 1 hour at the majority of our houses and rides. Some of the more popular thrill rides, and houses, will have lines that exceed our goal wait time of 1 hour, and are closer to 1.5 hours, due to their popularity as fan favourites. We closely monitor our ride and attraction wait times on busy nights, and yesterday the wait times did not overpass the 1.5 hour mark at any of our rides or attractions throughout the night." Every year this place gets more and more expensive; the gate fee, the rides fee, the games fee, the food fee... occasionally certain rides have technical problems and they have to close it off unexpectedly. The haunted houses (during Fright Nights) are basically the same every year as well, all while the prices go up. The line ups are always insanely long and there is an inability to attend all of them on certain days due to the wait for each one. It's not fun to go on a super rainy day, but that's the only kind of day that may allow you to get into all the haunted houses. It was a fun place for me as a kid, but it's too pricey for me now- when/if I do go, it's usually on the free days. I just walk around with my friends and check out what's around. read more

2019 best free attractions have to be the snaproom it's like the instagram photo room. Sometimes you have to que up behind people but everyone is well mannered and respectful with one another despite having any marked lines inside. They have some staff to offer to take photos for you. Lighting is kind of harsh and you're going to need to find the right angles so your photographers shadow isn't in the photo. Notable mentions. Food price minimum is $5 and it's a cash only place with vendors. Vendors have really odd pricing for food. Like $7 or $13, mini donuts now $7 a bag, no longer the $5 days. When everyone is complaining about real estate prices. It seems no one bats an eye with a 40% increase with other things. Where are the pitchforks and mobs arguing for lower prices for food. An absolute miss was the history of video games. You would walk in and inside was an actual room of just poster boards. This was so poorly done that it seemed like it was thrown together last minute as an afterthought. This year the number of shows dropped significantly. It could be a telling sign that there has been a lack of interest in the fair or just a loss of passion to the whole idea of the fair experience. It could also be that the attendance number has been declining and a lack of vendor interest. So, they don't want to spend too much that makes absolute sense. There needs to be a happy medium with the fair experience and prices inside and what you get. Inside a can on pop is $4 but the pop you get is warm. So, it would make more sense to go to McDonalds or the gas station to get cold pop with ice for only $1. If the pop was actually cold when you buy it instead of looking cold with blocks of dry ice. Then maybe charging a fair price would still allow you to make money and provide a decent thirst quencher to your guests. Most attendees are families with kids and if PNE had their own stands that provided basic hot dogs at basic prices and charged less to vendors for stalls than there could be more food choices. Then families can spend more on things like games and face painting. As for shows and acts. It is wonderful bringing oldie bands. Don't you realize that most people spending money are born in 90's or 00's who have the time to come. The music you have and the artists you're bringing in are for Grandpa's or for people that are dead or are prolly dying. There were so many signs with a piece of cardboard covering old prices. It doesn't cost much to remake a sign and if you're charging more the cost of a new sign will make the place look less cheap and greedy. Overall, PNE is doing something wrong and I'm not sure it will figure itself out in time before it all gets turned into condos. read more

Here marks my first time visiting the PNE! Apart from the rides and #superdogshow, my favourite part was certainly the food at the fair! The BBQ ribs from Prairie BBQ was truly amazing! Ordered the ribs & brisket combo, and it was so JUICY and FLAVOURFUL The butterbeer soft serve was pretty yummy and creamy too! We made the trek to the PNE & Playland and it was during a Tuesday promotion where the admission into the PNE was free between 11 and 1. Admission is $17 so this was a good incentive...and it seems others had the same idea as it was packed. Kids 13 and under get free admission. The Ride Passes were $44.75 or 30 tickets for the same price. We purchased Ride Passes for the kids and the adults got on 3 rides each with the 30 tickets. Last summer, we attended Canada's Wonderland which has some amazing coasters and rides which makes the Playland rides pale in comparison. We had a tentative plan for what we wanted to see and do but in hindsight, we would have headed straight to Playland to get the major rides out of the way first as the line ups for certain rides by the afternoon were 2 hours...yes 2 hours and my kids waited in these lines to go on a 90 second ride. We spent some time walking around checking out the food options...and settled for bbq chicken, fries and popcorn shrimp followed by popcorn and of course the mini-donuts. Not the healthiest of meals and glad I had planned a better dinner away from the PNE and Playland. We did tour the Market Place bldg, the Alien Worlds and Androids exhibit and the Pig Races. All three were quite enjoyable. The PNE provides one with unique visual experiences in terms of the attendees (good people watching), rides, and exhibits. While I am not a fan of large crowds and line ups, my kids enjoyed themselves and they had a positive experience. read more

Year after year there are threats of this place shutting down and year after year it's magically open. Unfortunately there really aren't any other options for amusement parks and for families this is simply a great place to take your kids. As much as the rides are no longer thrilling, secretly everyone still loves it. It's the whole carnival/ride/summer festivities feeling and it brings back fond memories for all while creating new ones for the next generation. It's been 4 years since I been to the Playland and PNE, one of the reasons why we use to come was for the food. I don't really go on the ride because the lines are always long and I'd rather save the rides for the kiddies. One of the reason why I had to come this year was one of my favourite bands was playing in one of the concert stage. So what's better than eating poutine, mini donuts and watching your favorite band play? Nothing!!! My husband gets extra discount on the entrance fee, so it was extra bonus... $13.00 to get in, and watch my favourite band, see a Star trek exhibit, watch Super Dogs, see farm animals. Yes the food can be a little pricey but that's just part of the fair. It was the last couple of days at the PNE so it was very crowded, lined for the food and rides were extra long but I was think its part of the fun and excitement. The concert was great (as expected) the new Westjet concert stage was big pretty visible from different angles, they had extra bleachers seating and also VIP seating, but lots of grass area to stand in. The food!! Everyone comes to the fair for the food, I love the deep fried goodness!!! and lots of variety from hot dogs, mini donuts, Indian food, funnel cakes, seafood, pizza and so on. I notice a lot more popular food trucks from downtown Vancouver. But bring cash most to all vendors only accept cash! This visit I tried the poutine from La Poutinerie yummy!!! cheese cords are the BEST and the home made gravy was delish! And you cant go to the fair without having mini donuts!! Mother nature was kind enough to give us wonderful weather which made my experience at the PNE a lot more pleasurable! I wont wait 4 years for my next visit that`s for sure! read more

I go to Playland twice a year: during the PNE and for Fright Nights, my favourite Halloween activity. Fright Nights scares me to death, but it's so much fun. This year, they have about seven haunted houses with different themes, including one that's a really huge haunted house. Last year, I seem to recall they had even more. For the uninitiated, you go into each house and go around a darkened maze of corners and rooms. Scary stuff lights up as you pass, with loud sound effects, and actors jump out at you and sometimes chase you a bit through the corridors. There are also actors roaming the grounds and sneaking up on the unwary or easy to scare (like me, big scaredy girl, right?) The most fun you can have at Fright Nights, besides riding the Coaster in the dark, is the big maze. Here too, you must find your way out of the maze - no running back to the start! - with scary things jumping out of the hedges and corners and chasing you, sometimes with chainsaws... It's a lot of fun and definitely not for the faint of heart or overly sensitive! Fright Nights is definitely not for the little kids, unless you're truly deranged as a parent. Buying tickets gets more complicated and expensive every year it seems. It's expensive. New rides have been added over the past few years. Parking is always an issue! The rides are pretty great. Weekends are very busy and tend to have lines. On a cold day you don't want to go on the log ride because you will get wet. Hot and sunny days are very busy. The busier the longer it takes to get on the most priced rides. Lots of the games seemed rigged but some are not. Mini donut, French fries, Cotton Candy that's the sort of food that is sold. If you have a positive attitude and love exciting rides, you will have a great time! read more

We went around dinner time and it was fun but the lineups are extremely long. We waited an hour for a ride that lasted two minutes. We rode the AtmosFear, and being terrified of heights I had my eyes closed the whole time while my fearless wife calmly held my hand the whole time haha. Way too overpriced! This year's Fright Nights was okay but not as scary as last years. Lacking the performers who walk around. Line ups got huge once it started to rain (hour and 10 min wait at least). Still love the Wooden coaster and Mousetrap though :) Oh and Mini Donuts! read more

Bought tickets online for Playland. DecidEd to spend the extra for a Thrill pass so we could take advantage of more rides. checking the website it said no outside food or drink, so I complied. Our party of 8 arrived a little past 11:30 and the line up to get in was not bad. we tried to get onto the coaster right away, but the lineup was already past the point of sanity. we had 3 teens and an 8 year old with us so we decided to try to hit as many rides as possible. The lineups were long, and that was to be expecte, but what wasn't expected was that the rides were not full, thus making the wait times longer than it should have been. As it was hot outside and we didn't bring outside food or drink, we ended up having to purchase water. $4.50 for a small bottle of water!!! What a ripoff!!! All in all we got 5 rides in for the cost of a thrill pass, another ripoff!!! Never again, Playland....... read more

Playland is really, really expensive. For a park that is definitely showing its age, you pay a LOT of money for the privilege of going on some rickety rides. And if you want to eat? Well, I hope you robbed a bank on your way in. The prices are just outrageous - the only way to get your money's worth is to go early and ride all damn day long (and don't eat). The season's pass makes more sense, but if you're only going once for a lark, it's a hard pill to swallow. It was also kind of awkward to watch a never-ending line of fat little children getting endless refills of pop via the enormous souvenir mug the park sells, but that's a story for another time. read more

Going back to relive my child hood dreams is kinda of a let down, most of the awesome rides that I loved are gone, the place is STILL CASH ONLY, and instead of growing the park larger, it has seem like it has gotten a lot smaller. The following rides have been replaced... Rainbow, Mousetrap, Octopus, Dragon and Kiddie Swings. I remember when I was a kid, the kiddie swings was my favourite. It used to be around in the Kiddie Place, and now it's gone :( and it was a lovely colour of Royal Blue & Purple. I really miss Rainbow as it was my favourite ride of all time in the park. FREE FALLING!! Mousetrap was scary, but i did enjoy the rickety sounds that it made as you fell down and the amazing jumps that it had. Octopus, omg, I missed that one SOOO much :( SOOOO MUCH!! AHHHH I can not contain my anger on that one! I LOVED IT SO MUCH TOO!! AHHHH :( The wooden coaster is still amazing as always, and I love it. The corkscrew should just be replaced. It hurts your head, and on top of that not as exciting as the other rides, who cares, and its across the park. read more

Fright Nights returns! Every year this place just gets better and better, I should know, I go every year! It should also be noted that every year it gets more and more expensive. This year on a weeknight it was $25 per person if you bought your tickets online ($28 if you didn't) and $33 on Fridays and Saturdays. Sheesh! Come on guys I know you are putting money back into the night, but the night only runs from 6pm "until late" which on Sunday night means it closes around 11:20pm, and suddenly my friends and I were stranded in the dark and abandoned fairgrounds, which was pretty cool because it was spooky. With all the fog machines running all night, it felt like we were supposed to go out and solve a mystery! Surprisingly the lines weren't too bad, we kinda lucked out though, and the two times we got in line for the coaster there was hardly anyone there. If you have a group to go with it also means you can joke around while you wait in line, so the time goes by faster. I love getting a hot chocolate and elephant ear in between haunted houses because it is so cold out that I have to wear about 3 sweaters, a scarf and two pairs of pants. I love the steam that rises from both treats in my cold little hands in the night air. I feel like a fat kid at Christmas, but I'm just a nerdy goth on Halloween. There were five haunted houses this year, I think the funniest part is the one with the vagina-birthing canal that you have to dive through. I was surprised to discover one of my claustrophobic friends didn't enjoy it, I guess she was never meant to be a muff diver in this lifetime. I also totally dig that they have paid actors in cool costumes wandering about the fair to catch you off guard and make you pee a little. When someone gets scared easily, it always makes the adventure more entertaining. Fright Nights I wish you could be all year round *sigh*. read more

This is a review for Fright Night which I always think is pretty fun. Even for $30 which is frankly a bit of a rip-off, it's still a pretty good time. The rides at night are great, the actors really give'er (don't try and touch them, not even as a joke, you will be out on your butt so fast...seen it happen) All the haunted houses are good, but the lines typically SUCK. Like really suck...it's a long time for a little payoff. Also they don't seem to care too much about claustrophobia - last time I went there was one haunted house where you were forcibly jammed into two inflatable walls and had to fight your way to the other side - I'm mildly claustrophobic and found it uncomfortable, people behind me were obviously VERY claustrophobic and were straight-up freaking the shit out. A little warning would have been nice in this case. However, I always have a good time here so I can't complain too much. But the price for the payoff doesn't always balance out. Still worth checking out - the haunted houses are genuinely scary and it's pretty cool riding all the roller coasters and whatnot at night. You gotta go at least once! read more

Me and 5 of my friends went to PNE on Thu 24 Oct 2013. That was one of the worst evenings of my life. Sure, the ambient was amazing as always, but the queues (!!!) were horrible. The fastest line took 40 minutes for us. And we spent 1 hour and 20 minutes in another one just to get inside the haunted house!!! Can you imagine that? Lines were so long, that only glance on them led me and my friends to despair. They promised 6 haunted houses and 13 rides and the price for the ticket was fair, but we made it only to 3 houses in 4.5 hours! I don't know if I should sue PNE for robbery or just leave it like that and never come back. PNE administration, WHY do you oversell the tickets? Shouldn't it be a limit for number of people? I highly recommend you NOT to go there this year. read more

I went during the summer, and I'd really like to know how safe those rides are... Dissapointed they wanted more money for the Haunted House... Marketing needs to think things through a little more and consider a new attraction as a way to increase front stall ticket sales rather than trying to eek money out of people when inside PlayLand. I hope they've changed their policy. read more
