This playgroup is run during term time by volunteers from the Church By The Bridge. It's around $5 per child and for that they get heaps of toys to play with, outdoor equipment, craft and a seriously substantial morning tea, as well as tea and biscuits for the adults. The morning tea is catered for by the group individually and whilst there's no pressure to volunteer your services, I did after attending for a while, as you really get into the spirit of the co-operation that's so natural here.
Families there are just lovely, very welcoming and not at all cliquey. It's perfect for babies and toddlers though pre-schoolers might be a bit bored unless there are other big kids around. It's a great place to meet people and there's a real mix of folk there: different nationalities, different income levels - a great big melting pot. read more
