We were in Fargo and very hungry after a morning of roaming around town. The car's GPS brought us here when I said, "Find me Mexican food." Definitely not what I was expecting. The place was loud and busy when we walked in, though that seemed to be part of the atmosphere. There's also quite a bit of outdoor seating available. The menu is pretty standard for what you'd expect from a Midwest Mexican restaurant. One difference is that they make fresh guac tableside. Caveat emptor: you do pay extra for this. The complimentary chips come with three different dips, which was a nice touch. Not sure what the rest of our party ordered, but I had the Fiesta Bowl and it was delish. I visited Plaza Azteca while we were in Fargo, and it totally lived up to the hype -- it's my in-laws' favorite spot, and now I see why! The atmosphere was fun and welcoming, and the service was quick and friendly. I started with the blueberry margarita, and it was so good -- super refreshing and packed with flavor. For my meal, I ordered the Burrito Mex and subbed shrimp. It was delicious, even though I originally thought it would be more of a handheld burrito -- it wasn't, but the flavor made up for it! The rice and beans were amazing, perfectly seasoned, and the queso was incredibly good too. Honestly, everything on the plate hit the spot. We also ordered guacamole before our meals, and they made it right at the table, which was such a fun touch. It came out super fresh and customizable, just how we like it. This was such a good experience. We loved the modern decor and cleanliness of this restaurant. I'm ALWAYS a fan of table side guacamole. The guacamole was good, but i needed to add salt. Some lime juice would have been good, too. Note: the guacamole guy has a cash tip jar. I found it a little off-putting, as I feel he should be compensated through my overall tip, not separately. I didn't have cash, so I couldn't tip him anyway. The ribeye tacos were DELICIOUS and my daughter enjoyed her chicken enchiladas immensely. I requested a blended skinny margarita. My server said they only did it on the rocks as the mix would be too watered down if blended. I persisted and he obliged when I promised not to complain. I didn't regret it! I'll be back! read more

It was busy in the restaurant, but they got our party of 6 people seated within 20 minutes. There wasn't anything special about the setup but it seemed clean and efficiently setup. More seating in the waiting area would have been nice though as it seems like waiting is a norm for most places in Fargo. I was too busy stuffing my face of guac to be pictures! I loved the table service guac that you could customize your mix ins. When you sit down, you also get their white dip, salsa and chips for the table. It was dangerous, but so delicious. The margs were all huge. I opted for the watermelon marg, which had a great sweetness to it without making me feel sick. For my main, I got the birria tacos. They were cheesy and the birria meat was tender. My only complaint is I wish the cheese could have been more crispy on the outside of the taco shell. The food is good, but at times the dish/meal will arrive at the table soggy. The guacamole that the server comes around to ask you if you would like some is actually priced as much as a regular lunch meal, it's not complimentary (it's posted on the final tab). Service is great, professional, no complaints at all. Some of the male servers have long beards or facial hair long enough that should be under a hairnet. Clean restaurant and clean bathrooms. Ambiance good but loud and noisy, with TV screens on everywhere. Unfortunately, we will no longer eat at this location or any Mexican restaurant, as much as we really like it. Reason: one of the young man that was clearing and cleaning the tables/booths went into the men's bathroom with his kitchen glove on his right hand to clean the restroom. He was in and out of the bathroom and then came out with the same kitchen glove on, did not look like he discarded the glove or properly washed his hands. He then picked up a serving trey and a clean cloth from the kitchen rack and went about his duty cleaning tables/booths. Thinking that he might handle the chips and salsa back in the kitchen and then bring it out to the customers, made my stomach very nauseated. As a staff member, in the food industry especially, going into the restroom with a kitchen glove on is a BIG NO-NO!!! The health department would have a huge issue with that! Ordered food for 4 of us. Picked it up and did not look inside until to far away to turn back. My chicken taco salad was beef. Says chicken on the order. Plaza EZ Techa is one of my favorite spots in town. Every time I have been here the experience has been excellent. This week I tried the arroz con pollo and it was absolutely fantastic. I also ordered a Buffalo Trace Old Fashioned which really hit the spot. One thing that makes this place stand out is the complementary white sauce they bring to the table. It is delicious and a must try if you have never had it before. Between the great food, drinks, and overall atmosphere Plaza EZ Techa never disappoints. read more

Ask about a particular kind of tequila and the bartender, Paris was so helpful and informative. Explained the various types of tequila and ended up making me a phenomenal drink. The food was great! I had the carne asada. Super flavorful! I personally could have used a lot more heat when it came to salsas but I'm sure I could have asked for something and they'd have it. There are a few rare moments where I really, reallyyyy wish I could give a place more than 5 stars. And Plaza Azteca has earned that! So freaking good, so even though you only see a 5 star rating- just imagine in your mind the golden stars continuing and continuing... making their own fun constellation of deliciousness! Last summer I picked up a ton of delivery orders from here, and I am super serious in that there was not one time where it was not insanely busy- a full house, packed to the brim and raucous with only more people coming. Indeed I get why now. This is some high quality food right here- I could probably come every day of the week, and I would never say that lightly. Everything I have tried has been fantastic. One of my favorites ever is a seafood Pineapple dish, I can't remember what it's called but you literally get a stuffed pineapple and put the innards into tortillas and oh my oh my oh my! I don't want to say I'd sell my soul for that stuffed pineapple, but I'd seriously debate it. Along with fantastic food, they also have some bomb margaritas- the only way to describe them properly is to call them Monster Margs. If you look at pictures you will get why: they are absolutely ginormous. This establishment is well staffed, and rather accommodating. That being said, I thought the food was slightly subpar I had a chimichanga with rice and beans. The rice was definitely a little tired, and had not much flavor. The beans were a little thin and definitely lacked flavor. The chimichanga was the smallest I've had in recent memory and it was overcooked to being burnt on one end The margarita I had was fine. I'm glad I went here however, I'm not sure I would return because there are so many other Mexican restaurants in Fargo these days. The place is new and has an upscale vibe. The rice and beans were great. The service was also great. My server was attentive and the food came out fairly quickly for it being a busy day. Food and service fantastic haven't been disappointed all the times we go there. For Christmas this year we bought all of our kids gift cards so they can go with or without it. If you like Mexican food don't eat here! None of the food met their criteria of "fresh, or authentic". Perhaps some of it was unique. My chiles rellenos were doused with puréed, pale tasteless tomatoes. The "sauce" drowned the chiles into a sad, sorry lump. My chopped salad had potential, but the last item added to the salad was unrivaled, undrained black beans so that's the predominant flavor was canned bean juice. I visited Plaza Azteca today while passing through Fargo on trip, on the recommendation of a coworker who lives in Fargo. The service was good, as we were greeted right away and the server was attentive. We started with the chips and salsa brought to the table right away, and I enjoyed the salsa. They also come by to the table to make fresh guacamole for the table in front of you, though my coworker and I declined as it was only a quick lunch while traveling. I ordered from the lunch menu and got the enchiladas banderas, which I really enjoyed and thought were great. The side of rice was also really good. We got our food quickly which was great so that we could get back to traveling. The restaurant itself was cute and had a modern interior. The outdoor patio had adorable lanterns and greenery, and would be an amazing spot of drinks in the summer. When coming back through Fargo, I would love to stop again (and hopefully sit on the patio)! read more

All I can say is amazing. I was traveling and I asked the locals where to go to grab a bite to eat and they recommended this place. I can tell you that this place is amazing and you should come here if you are in town. From the time I sat down service was great! I got as presented amazing chips and salsa and ordered a jalapeño margarita that was off the charts x2! If you want to bump it up have the table so guacamole which is fantastic!
