Two eggs over corned beef hash, with cheese on the potatoes
    Peter D.

Sometimes you just need a diner meal. For instance, if you spent the previous night at a concert upstate with some high school friends, drinking and bullshitting and sitting around a fire and definitely not sleeping when you should've been, a diner breakfast is sometimes the only way to feel human. The Plaza has been here forever, and they know their business. They serve the staples well. For me, I always go with either (1) the scallops or (2) the two egg breakfast, with toast, potatoes, and a side of corned beef hash. (That's technically true, because I always get breakfast. Don't ever get scallops at a diner, you psycho.) The corned beef hash here is surprisingly not of the canned variety. I think they legitimately make it themselves, and it's damn good, especially with two runny eggs on top. The waitress was prescient enough to bring us some hot sauce without us asking, and it wasn't even tabasco (Frank's is far superior...really every hot sauce is superior to tabasco). This past visit, my buddy asked for cheese melted on top of his potatoes, and I can report that's a good move. An order of table pancakes never hurt anyone either.

Had a meeting up at the school this weekend and we had a big dinner set up Friday night. 45 of us took over the back room for dinner. They did a good job of handling such a big group. Opted for the French dip and have to say it was pretty good. The meat was a perfect medium. Also ordered some Fresh bread which I finished myself. We even came back today for breakfast before heading home. 4 stars only cause I will say the prices as others mentioned are a little high and the portions are a little small. It wouldn't stop me From coming back

Well The food is ok But I am hoping that the dinning environment can be cleaner It feels itchy once I sat down So I guess there is room for improvement

We began our day in the Catskills with breakfast at the Plaza Diner. This restaurant has been around for 52 years and I'm sure I've been here a time or two over the years. This is your classic type diner. Large menu, lots of choices. For breakfast I went with the always safe challah French Toast. It was fine as was everyone else's meals. New Paltz is a big college town and I can picture this diner crowded late night with many students.

Horrible food (burger tasted like dish soap) , horrible service (1 waitress for every table. Not friendly either) ..ambiance ok I guess for an old diner

Very run down place. Food was bland and dry. Service was slow and poor. Looks very old and dirty inside.

Stopped here for breakfast. It was great, coffee strong. Breakfast sandwich was solid and came out fast. It's a diner folks - take it easy!

Food was good and service was very good. Diner is near the most often used motel and on the Main Street in town.

It's kind of expensive but the servers are nice and they have great homemade soups and delicious potato salad.

On the weekends it turns on a late-night party scene filled with college students. It is lined up right in Main Street with other smaller restaurants and bars. This was one of my favorite cheap eateries in the town while I was in college. I have been here twice since for happy hour specials. I ordered the chicken wings and the shrimp tacos. The drinks were around $5 which is a steal compared to New York City prices. In the past they used to offer a large fishbowl drink for your birthday. It was huge and took several people to drink it. Currently it is the size of a large cup as you can see in the picture. It does the job but it is much smaller than what it was in 2010. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. I usually sit at the bar which is a great place to meet others and watch the game. Everyone usually comes in for drinks and a quick meal. There are large tables for families to come in and spread out. Everyone was nice here. I plan to come back soon and take advantage of the happy hour specials again.
