Came back again while in a Longview. I'm from California... and love Mexican Food. I just had a bean burrito with rice and beans, I love the red sauce they put on the burrito And beans were yummy. I don't usually like the Spanish rice at restaurants... but theirs is exceptionally very good. What i appreciate most is how nice and hot the food comes out. This place is very unassuming from the outside. To put everything into perspective I was born in southern Califonia and have also lived in the Bay Area. Two places that have amazing Mexican food. Since moving to the PNW I have been on the hunt for a "good" Mexican restaurant. This is currently my number one pick out of Oregon and Washington. Warm chips and salsa with a very unique side of beans. Thise beans were delicious! Also water for everyone with a pitcher of water left on the table for refills. We sampled the chili Colorado burrito, Ranchero taquitos and super nachos and rice and beans. Everything was flavorful and tasty. Everyone from the wait staff was very attentive. At the end of the meal we were presented with a scoop of ice cream on a fried tortilla triangle with whip cream and some fudge. Perfect way to finish the meal. Will be back for sure!! read more

I love everything here. I love the fact they give you not just delicious salsa with your chips but also refried beans! Other places in town charge you for that. The chips are also warm and fresh. The asada is so so good. No grisly pieces at all! The staff are always very nice and attentive and it's clean inside with tables and a big dining area. The last time we were there they brought us dessert, when we told them we didn't order they said it comes for free with every order. Halfway through my tamale, I asked our server what type of meat was in the tamale because I hadn't found the meat yet. There was a big chunk of chicken on the end. They serve as much salsa and beans as you want, and the seasoned beans are whole, not refried. We were delighted when they surprised us with complimentary dessert! Was in late evening- only 2 other patrons within, so service was prompt. Tortilla chips were warm, but tasted of being store purchase; salsa was mild. I ordered the New Plaza special, diving into the sauteed scallops, shrimp & mushrooms first, which were very good except for the shrimp being overcooked, therefore on the chewy side. The serving was large enough to give me leftovers for a 2nd meal, of which the beef served, rice & beans, including the grilled jalapeno still tasted good. Giving only 4 instead of 5 stars for the tortilla chips & the young lady who served me not being able to muster a smile. She did good with quick delivery of tortilla chips, salsa & water, then my meal, as well as checking with me numerous times that I was content, but a smile at some point in time would've really been nice. Wife went with some girlfriends there for dinner and got me a taco salad to go and when we opened the foil that was covering it we find a big black hair in it, she paid $17 for it and it was like the size of two cheese burgers. Such a rip off. The worst part about it was I was going to take it back in the morning but my God dam dog decided he wanted it and snatched it of the counter. Enjoyed a very flavorful and satisfying lunch. Pleasantly surprised that the lunch specials being valid on a Saturday. We enjoyed a basket of warm tortilla chips with a mildly spicy salsa along with a separate small dip with whole baked pinto beans. We enjoyed a refill to finish both salsa servings. Our waiter/server was very busy handling all tables but he made it look and effortless. His name was Larry and he was phenomenal! He was attentive, personal and professional. Larry provided rockstar service! My wife and I enjoyed our lunch platters. The portions are generous. The chicken in the tacos and enchiladas was moist and perfectly seasoned. The Spanish rice was fluffy and moist, too. The enchilada sauce was tasty and balanced by a right amount of blended cheese. The biggest surprise was unknown to us when our waiter brought us 2 dishes of a sundae of vanilla and cinnamon ice cream with whipping cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. One of few Mexican restaurants to stand the test of time, this is now a classic location in town. At least, now it is, for me. It's already been that way for others. I always found myself more impressed with other locations, but now I can't say that. I'm glad though, because I love to support businesses that have just really been around for a while. This place has great service, the servers are all INCREDIBLY nice. Maybe the nicest I've ever encountered. Plus fast and prompt service. I've gotta tell you that the food's good, too. But to me, nothing compares to their Pollo A La Crema. (Probably mistyped that a bit.) I think my only con is that it seems to be wearing down on the inside, especially in the room with all the tables. Not a huge con, but it feeling worn out when I walk in detracted a point, along with subpar parking. But it's made up for with the great food and service. It's impeccable. Stopped by on our way home from Seattle area. The place is small and cozy. Front room had a TV with the Thursday night football game on. We got the room with Univision. Service was on the low side. Waitress was nice. We got chips and salsa right away, but took awhile for the waitress to take order. Loved the bean dip. Not what I thought they would be, and happy about it. They were whole beans with a good kick to them. Chips were warm and fresh. Salsa good. I ordered the mole chicken enchilada. Just ok. The mole sorta had a good flavor, but there was hardly any on. It was mostly cheese on top. The rice, eh! Beans were good with tasty and the cheese on top was good with an awesome cheese pull with every bite. Really loved this place! The service was very nice and very attentive. The food was delicious as well, and our entree was enough for my wife and I to share.The pollo ala crema was very good. So cheesy (thicker and cheesier than the pic shows), super tasty. On top of the salsa that comes with the chips, they have beans and I really liked those, a nice little extra something to snack on. At the end there was a free dessert that was also very good, and again FREE! Another thing that I appreciated, especially as someone who drinks a lot of water, is that they left a pitcher with us, allowing us to easily fill our drinks whenever we wanted. Plaza Jalisco is the most authentic place i have found and loved every bite of my meal, from their freshly made chips and salsa to my entree. My husband Chris and I have been going to this Mexican restaurant for years. Not often but 6 or more times a year. They know us when we come in. They are small and usually quiet (in other words not usually busy). This is one of our favorite places. We have probably been going there for more than 10 years. Christopher almost always orders the same thing which is a T-Bone steak. He tells people all the time that this place has one of the best steaks. It's marinated and has a lot of flavor. It's thin though, and he orders it medium rare. Because it's thin, they often don't get it cooked just right. Sometimes it's over which isn't a big deal but sometimes it's rare and he asks to have it cooked just a bit more. But he still orders it every time. Today was kind of a crummy day for me so we decided to go there for dinner. We are always kind and cordial to the staff and always tip well. Sometimes the gentleman that we always see there seems a little grumpy but tonight he was laughing with us and the waitress was great. We ordered our usuals. We were having a nice relaxed time. The food came, mine was great as usual, but Chris' steak was particularly undercooked. When the waitress came over (as we are showing her the steak) I said I know they cook it light to be careful to not overcook it but could they just cook it a bit more. Shouldn't be a big deal. She took the plate and we continued talking. Then another gentleman that we had not ever seen before came to the table. He said "sir can you tell me how you like your steak cooked". Chris said, medium rare. I thought at first the guy was just trying to make sure we were happy. Boy was I wrong. The other guy clearly looked angry and said to Chris "ok cause every time you come in here you complain about the steak". We both asked him what he was talking about and he repeated himself. Chris said that is not true. He has asked for it to be cooked more but he never complains about it and is always gracious about it. Chris said you might have me confused with someone else. The guy then said no, it's you. Chris asked why he was so angry but he didn't answer except to say that Chris complains. Chris asked him if he saw the steak and if he thought it was medium rare but he didn't answer. I said we come here all the time and it's one of our favorite places. The guy just walked away. As he did I said I guess we won't be back and his response was "GOOD". I was actually hurt a bit. Even people in a table behind us were looking at what was happening. I asked the waiter or manager or whatever he is to come to the table and said the cook just came to the table. He told us that was the owner and that he must be having a bad day. I or maybe the guy that we see there all the time said he my husband complains all the time. Even if he does complain they fix it he eats it and we come back. The whole ordeal was so upsetting but to hear that he was the owner made it even more upsetting. we left without eating. I get having a bad day but I was having a bad day and was still gracious. Try to remember when your having a bad day you may actually be taking it on someone else who might be having a worse day. But also someone who WAS a loyal customer who actually sent people to your restaurant. I'm very sad now. read more

Out of town for a dog show and was really craving some Mexican food. Seriously, when I pulled in I was concerned that this was a "walk in" fast food joint, however that is not the case at all!! When we first walked in, the waiter was super friendly and let us pick our seats. The chips were warm and fresh and the salsa (although not enough spice in my opinion) was delicious. I ordered a Cadillac margarita and it was by far one of the BEST margaritas I have had in this area!
