Plistia is a lovely place with fantastic food and nice rooms. It is one of the first restaurants that came up with the "slow food" movement. Not to be missed if you like to experience real regional cuisine. read more

Hotel Cristiania
Can there be less than one star? Rude management & horrible service…read more We had originally booked a week in Switzerland, but the ski conditions were very bad, so we quickly reorganized our trip to go to Madonna Di Campiglio. In our haste, my wife and I ended up booking Hotel Christiania and hotel Arnica. Both had the same cancelation policies. We would loose 50% of the money we paid. Since it was only 1 hour after booking, and 3 days in advance, Hotel Arnica immediately granted my request to wave the cancelation fee. I continued to try to contact Hotel Cristiania through email, booking.com, whatsapp and by phone. We decided to arrive at Madonna Di Campiglio one day earlier. Online booking with Hotel Cristiania was not available. Assuming they would show us the same curtesy as Hotel Arnica, we rebooked with Hotel Arnica using miles (Hotel Cristiania showed no availability). Finally, after 14 hours, I got a reply from Hotel Cristiania, saying they wanted to take our money, but could not accommodate us. Management was rude and swore at me, threating retaliation if I gave him a bad review. Don't be fooled by location. Every hotel in this town has a great location. Book at a hotel that will understand if you make a mistake and notify them within an hour, so that they rebook the room. This hotel wants to take your money, and then sell the room to someone else.

Filomena and her family do all the cooking and provide family style hospitality in a beautiful Italian mountain setting. If you're interested in a unique travel experience away from the tours and want to sample some authentic local cuisine try the pasta guitarra with truffle (tartffo) or the tagliatella. For a secondo, the roast lamb and veal are prepared in the local tradition and are always great. Or try a pitcher of arrosticini skewers of mini lamb kebabs with a fresh green salad. The local wine is great. Breakfast is generous in the Italian style collazione with pastries, cereal and coffee/juices. The rooms are new, clean and well appointed. Try the front two that include large balcony spaces overlooking the piazza.. See a bit of the real Italy if you plan to visit this area and stop in at L'Ara dell Colle. Ciao

Both times when we arrived, the restaurant appeared to be closed (it was closed, actually). But both times we were treated to unbelievable meals prepared by la mamma di Gino. Abruzzo is known for the quality of the food and the cooking and the Belvedere is, imo, an example of the best of the best. On top of that we were welcomed in and fed like members of the family and after this second time...I wish I was one. The pictures of the food I uploaded practically speak for themselves. Although I had ordered the tagliatelle as a primi, we were both treated to a plate of the gnocchi because it was important that we try it. Some of the best I have ever had anywhere, and the first time I've seen it prepared with cauliflower in the sauce. It's hard to get a bad meal in Abruzzo but there are some places that are just mind-numbingly excellent and this is one of them, without a doubt.
