But unlike in LA where they are not frequented, Market City was definitely hopping on a Friday afternoon. The vast majority of retail stores are Far East Asian (Chinese and Korean). There are grocery stores located in the bottom floor, along with beauty stores. There are also stand alone carts selling various knick knacks. It was worthwhile perusing them, and my brother ended up buying quite a few things.

We took the Uber and it was located right along the bay. Beautiful sight and you can walk the 7 km if you feel like it. Found a lot of bargains. $9.99 summer clothes. $5 kids clothes. But of course, if you're into designer high end brands, They're all here. For tourists only, just visit the Guests Services and you will receive the Visitor Passport for extra discounts in most stores. Guests services also provides charging stations, complimentary herbal tea or water and lounge areas.

I would suggest taking the bus or the train to Westfield (There is a bus stop right outside the entrance and a train station right about a good 5-minute walk from there) You could drive but the parking garage on a weekend is like typical mall traffic during Black Friday but worse. We went on a Saturday before and it took us about an hour to park. I'm not lying. ONE hour to find a parking space. The entire bottom parking garage is reserved for the valet/car wash service. Traffic is also one way so everyone leaving the parking garage has to get into the line with everyone looking for a parking spot. They have a little thing that tells you how many spaces are available on each floor but that won't matter because it's going to take you forever and a day to get to the next floor. Enough about the parking, let's get into the actual mall itself. The mall is like a one stop for everything you may need. There are two food courts (The huge one near the ALDI's and a mini one in front of the woolsworth) The little mini food court has a mini farmers market like set up there as well. Yes people can grocery shop at a mall and they do have cool escalators for your shopping cart. If you need a OPAL Card, which is the bus/train card, you can get one at the Woolsworth Customer Service if you just got into Sydney and didn't get one at the airport. I would suggest checking the directory just to see the "YOU ARE HERE" circle. I have gotten lost many times in the mall just because it's so huge. Thankfully there are tons of comfortable seating because your feet will hurt. Mall hours (or trading hours) are not like what it is in the States. The mall is open from about 9:30 am to 6pm except for Thursdays when its open till 9pm. These are just for the stores, the restaurants and the movie theater have different operating hours just like in other malls. Those restaurants and the movie theater are located at the very top. They have separate parking for those but I would still suggest taking Uber/bus/Train anything but a car if you don't know where you're going. Be sure to check out the very large tree that is in front of the woolsworth area. At night all the really loud birds go there and you can hear from quite a distance. Overall this mall is a great way to get some exercise in and a great way to spend the day.

I was amazed to see a grocery store with a full produce section open to the mall. Not something Sean in the states. Big place with 2 levels and plenty of stores. Seems silly to be writing this but I really liked the thought that went in to the toilets! The normal female toilets had a double width cubicle for fitting a pram in and also a cubicle with a little children's toilet. It's not often you find that in the regular toilets. Normally a lone mummy with a pram is forced to wait for disabled toilets or parents room toilets which in a busy centre can result in a long wait. Whilst the centre may have been slightly smaller than my local Chatswood Westfield the inclusion of the 3 major department stores along with the atmosphere meant that for me it was a winner! If only it was closer to me!

Ultimately, I decided to eat at Yayoi, a Japanese restaurant up on floor 1. Since they didn't open until 11:30 am for lunch, I took the time to check out each floor to see what stores and restaurants were available. This was a modern looking shopping mall. There were a good variety of stores on each floor. There was a Fitness First gym and Kinokuniya bookstore up on floor 2. There was a nice food gallery with several different choices down in the lower ground level as well as an underground passage over to the Queen Victoria Building. This was a nice place to do a little window shopping, eat some food, or just to hang out with your friends.
