This Pharmacy or "Apotheke" is located on the bottom floor of the Potsdamer Arkaden Centre in…read moreBerlin I called in here while in the shopping centre to pick up some snorting treatment for my friend, and some paracetamol. I found this store to be rather expensive with paracetamol costing around 2.50 euros (it can be picked up for 1/5 or ¼ of that in the UK) and the snoring spray costing just over 10 euros. The woman who served me spoke decent English, yet the language barrier was still there and she did originally try to charge me 25 euros for the snoring treatment as he tried to push on me, and sell on me a mouth and nose spray, which were both separate, she seemed to be more about profit than showing me all the options which might be better in my situation and cheaper. The selection here is okay but in my case only having two snoring sprays (mouth and throat) and one lot of paracetamol is ridiculous, and I can't help but wonder whether it was just the member of staff picking on me to end up making more profit and selling a more expensive item as I'm British and have very basic knowledge of Berlin and Germany, and I don't speak German. Price and service and the location (being on the bottom floor makes coming here inconvenient) all are a huge factor in why I feel this Pharmacy deserves a single one star rating.

Y'all neeeed to go here if you're in Berlin. I'm not kidding. It was such a relaxing experience and…read moreone of the best I've ever had IN MY LIFE. FYI, men's and women's is Monday. Other than that, it's just women all day errday. I got the exfoliating scrub and massage. It was one of the best add-ons I could have asked for -- especially that massage! I feel like the massages in Germany are much different compared to that of the US? There's somewhat of a physiotherapy approach that you would find more or less at a clinic in the USA. Anyway, you can bring your own bathing suit or go around nekked. It's up to you, it's a judgment free zone and those Germans are very accepting of everyone you know! You're given a locker, and you can choose to get some towels and sandals for a small fee. There's also a shower, a dry sauna, wet sauna, and cooling room. I pretty much did everything I could in the 3 hours paid for. After you are done, dressed, and return your things (if you rented anything that is), you can relax in the front area with some Turkish tea. I slept sooo good that night. Can't wait to go back!

It's June, which means my allergy season is in full effect right now. This was something I totally…read moreneglected to think about until it was already upon me, and I realized I only had a few weeks of Allegra-D left. After finding out the German name from a doctor friend, I decided to see an allergist. Need allergy medicine? See an allergist. Makes sense, right? Except that every English-speaking allergy doctor I came across was booked for months. That wouldn't do. Instead, I decided to see a regular practitioner. Of course, I encountered a similar problem. All the doctors were either booked for months, or on the other side of town. I, for one, would like to be able to walk a few blocks or take a short bike ride to see mine. Well thank goodness for aerzte-berlin.de - I was able to put in advanced criteria and when looking for English-speaking doctors in my neighborhood, came across one just a couple blocks away. I quickly called and was told to come in and wait. The reception area is super small and it took a while to be helped, although I don't think that was any fault of the people working. Once I registered, I waited in an adjoining room for maybe 5 or 10 minutes before I was seen. The wall is covered in (faded) reprints of Van Gogh and Monet paintings - a nice touch when compared with some of the awful art I've seen on office walls elsewhere. The seats were multi-coloured with shiny plastic shells - they reminded me of M&Ms... I can't say anything about Dr. Cotanidis, but as for Dr. Engert, he was great. I immediately told him that I heard he spoke English, and he switched right away - and speaks it well! He sat down with me, took the time to not only hear what I needed but also ask the appropriate follow-up questions, and then accompanied me to the front and waited until my prescription was given to me. All in all, the experience was about 30 minutes. I got what I came for and left with a good impression. Extra note: In addition to speaking English (and German), Turkish is also spoken here.
