The staff here are very rude and were disrespectful toward my entire party. They denied a REAL id in attempt to buy one beer with our meal. In return we decided to leave and as we were leaving the hostess called out that we looked like high schoolers. We are all juniors in college earning our degrees. This used to be a go-to place, no question, but started to slip a bit last summer, especially toward the end of the season. Food is so-so and a bit expensive (that's what no competition will do) and had the experience on a uncomfortably cool evening to be told not to sit inside, so we left. The best way to enjoy this place is from your own boat, drinking your own beer and anchored at the end of the dock. Breakfasts are good, otherwise I would have rated one star. read more

Clear Lake has it good. There is a ton to do around this lake. I had a good experience with the tiki bar. In the morning we took a short walk out to check it out. Sitting right on the water with the dock is the bar. The restaurant is the building behind it. The tables that are scattered between here and there are where you can sit and order. We had a quick drink right when the bar opened. We came back later to get bags for a game of corn hole. We took full advantage of the bar and had a really good time. The wait staff was busy with the really crowded outside seating. The weather was perfect and everyone was having a good time. read more

Great restaurant/bar on on the lake. We're here for the 4th weekend and stopped here for some brunch. Great staff, very friendly and awesome customer service. We all got some grub as well, the wraps are delicious, chicken tenders were great. Prices are low (we're from Chicago), pretty good size selection of beers as well. Cocktails were good. PM Park is right next to the Clear Lake Marina, providing easy access to food and drinks for the many boaters of Iowa. They have an indoor restaurant in an antique, original clear lake home with historic photos and memorabilia next to the outdoor tiki bar, spotted with picnic tables and string lights. Beyond the utter cuteness of the establishment, there's corn hole to play, the parrot to say hello to, and live music to listen to at certain times in the week. The beach is close by for kids to play at while you sip a beer and look out at the sunset, just past the miniature lighthouse. Truly the get-together spot in the area. read more

I'm baffled as to where the other account went that included several reviews (50+)? We stopped on the Fourth and came in from the lake. There was a limited menu (which is fine--just a heads up). And I ordered the chicken strip basket with fries. Let me tell you, it was the saddest chicken strip basket I've ever seen in my life: three strips and a small handful of fries (13 or so?). I leaned over to my party and sad that they could've at least made it look better by putting it in a smaller basket. They didn't even bother to hide that they were giving us a tiny amount of food. It was in a huge basket! I cannot believe I paid $10 for that sad amount of food. What a ripoff. Our friends ordered some nachos. Guess what? They were a sad pile of nachos, too. There was a tiny bit of ground hamburger, tomatoes, and UNMELTED cheese tossed on it. They didn't even try. The chips looked gross, too--these weirdly white, plain things. Two stars only because their breakfast is actually pretty decent. It's definitely their best meal. It's one of three restaurants on the lake, and they definitely take advantage of that by hiking up their prices and cutting the amount and quality of food. Oh, and it takes a solid ten minutes to get a drink at the Tiki Bar. There were two bartenders working (two!) on the Fourth of July--one of their busiest days of the year. The setting at PM Park, outside by the lake is great! They were quite busy on a Saturday night, and did take our reservation for a large party (big positive). The tiki bar atmosphere is festive, but the drinks are nothing special- a margarita in a plastic cup with no salt on the rim. A strawberry margarita that resembled a bright red slushie. The pizza margherita was diced tomatoes and cheese and was meh at best. The chicken Caesar salad was pretty boring. A more successful item was the onion ring appetizer- nicely hot and crispy without being oily. The variety of burgers ordered weren't overly impressive for our diners. The next best meal after the onion rings was likely the pork tenderloin, which was huge and made with a breading similar to the onion rings (probably best shared unless you are really hungry). There were also a number of overtired oversunned crying kids-so there's that too. read more

We discovered PM Park last year and immediately fell in love with it. Where else can you get dinner served to you in a park with a playground and its own beach? Going here is an instant memory-maker; just add family and you've got a reunion. It's a place to while away the hours as the sun goes down. We've missed it terribly with our need to social distance this year, but it was still lovely to be able to call ahead and pick up an order. The kids really enjoyed the pizza and chicken; I confess the cheese curds were gone before we made it home. Here's hoping next summer is pandemic-free! read more

PM Park/the tiki bar is a continual diasppointment. Pros: local bands, great view, location, homegrown tomatoes, onion rings are very tasty Cons: rude rude rude ownership and service. We complimented the owner on an exceptional server we had previously (who was the FIRST even acceptable at this establishment, I might add) and she said she 'wouldn't go that far'. Not only did we feel personally insulted, but who says that about their own staff?! My food was cold and stale when brought out. It generally takes quite some time to get food, but it came out very quickly during this visit. I suspect my food had been prepared earlier and was sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time. Their beverages were average, at best. Frozen/blended drinks usually come out melted with a few ice shavings floating at the top. And then...there's this sign. PM Park is a restaurant/lodge/tiki bar. It is located on the beach in Clear Lake. The place is FUN. Friendly staff and a park-like setting on the beach. The view of Clear Lake is amazing. They have bags, a small grassy area with picnic tables and space to run around. There's a small boat-like deck for the kids to play on. We stopped for lunch and the food was solid. It was the usual lunch-type good (burgers, chicken strips, etc). Nothing fancy, but very well made. It was tasty and everyone enjoyed it. (That can be a battle with 3 different aged kids (12, 9 and 2). Go check it out. Bring the kids and make a few hours out of it. Or leave the kids at home and check out the tiki bar, it looked like FUN! read more

Kayaked quite a ways to enjoy a dinner on a gorgeous Sunday night. Not impressed. The meal was WAY overpriced. Not a stitch of TP in the women's restroom and we couldn't drink the well water it smelled so bad. Wt went there with a group of about 15 people on the 3rd of July One of us was doing the Tiki Burger Challenge. That person had an hour to eat their 6 patty burger. The waitress took everyone's order but didn't start bringing us our food till the challenge was over. We were starving. It was a good thing we odered their delicious onion rings to tied us over. What a fun find. We live in Mason City and were out for date night and came here on a friend's recommendation. The onion rings were amazing and the pulled pork was great. They are only open for the summer, and Labor Day happens to be their last weekend, but we'll be back next year. read more

I'm writing my review of this past weekend on a monday while my parents are still in the next room discussing how rude the owner/manager and her boyfriend were to us on our visit. I'll write a review you can read, and the short story here is I would never stay in this hotel again ever unless I heard someone else bought it and renovated it. Literally you should stay any other place you can than this place. That said, here's my review : The location of this place worked out great for us so we took 12 people and got 4 rooms at this place for the weekend. The rooms are cheap like $50 and they're very small but we figured we'd be outside most of the time anyways so it wouldn't be a big deal. I walked through a graffiti-type bar-bathroom looking hallway to go up some stairs to my room. When I got into my room I noticed it was hot so I went to turn the AC on and noticed it was surrounded by spider webs filled with dead insects. "Well, nobody's stayed in this room in awhile" I thought. No big deal i'll just deal with it. I look on the bedspread and I see a spider so I flick it off. My family and I go down to eat at the restaurant and it's really busy. There are some very young staff here and they're obviously overworked, so they help each other out and they get through it. Our server Ashley was amazing at maintaining a smile and being friendly. She was a pleasure to have as a server. Our food was okay at best. It's kind of low quality, greasy food that you'd expect at a bar. After one time eating there I didn't really wanna eat there again. I figure they have big cups because they've learned it'll take them 20 minutes to bring you a refill. This is not an exaggeration. Literally every time I wanted a drink from the bar or a refill on a coke I was waiting a very long time, as were all the people I was with. Still, it's right by the lake and it's nice out so we overlooked it. That night we decide to have some wine so we go down to a picnic table next to the rooms, I borrow a corkscrew from the bartender, and we start having a glass of wine. The table has a bucket on it with like 50 cigarette butts on it so it's apparently a smoking area, but while we're drinking a very rude guy who apparently is the manager's boyfriend comes up to us and repeatedly says a story about how this is a bar area and the police will come get him, and blah blah blah. That's fine and I get it, but he was inappropriately a dick over and over, repeating his story to us like we're idiots or something, and I suspect this is more about being greedy with money than it is about the police. I'm a 37 year old man and my father is retired. We don't need some d***head barking orders at us. At least be nice about it. Oh, and they're not running waitresses to this table anyways... So basically we're instructed that we have to drink on this rickety wooden balcony with no table and like 3 chairs on it. There is literally no place for hotel guests to be outside and have any form of beverage other than if you buy it from the bar. The next morning we come out and have a coffee at the same table thinking that they just didn't want us there drinking our own wine. Now it's apparently the restaurant's table, a convenient excuse considering they don't have servers that come to that table. Again, I suspect this is just them being greedy about money, even though we brought 12 people, rented 4 rooms, ate at the crappy restaurant twice because it was convenient, and drank a bunch of expensive drinks at the bar. We're paying customers, we just have literally zero place to have a coffee. Oh, and did I mention my dad got threatened by the manager that she'd charge us for being late if we were even 1 minute late out of our rooms? This is just rude. I hope this lady is reading this review because maybe she'll look up the word hospitality in the dictionary. Really? You need to cause my family a bunch of stress over a couple of minutes? Every hotel in the world has a late checkout. You can call and say "Hey i'll be a few minutes late checking out" and it's no big deal. Not to this woman. Apparently it's more important for her to stress out my retired parents and therefore the rest of us 12. I haven't even finished about the bad stuff. That morning when I woke up my girlfriend and I had bug bites all over us from the bugs in the room and the room not being cleaned before we got there. Overall I would never stay at this place again. Small rooms filled with bugs where if you sit on the toilet your legs are in the shower. The shower is a small steel rusty box that you can't get the water temperature right on. The water that comes through the faucets is like milk water that came from a well, and the whole place is just dirty and unkept. The staff who manage and run the place are rude dicks and somehow impossibly the young staff is still nice and manages to keep smiles on their faces. I won't be coming back. read more

I experienced the worst customer service of my life here. I've worked in the service industry before and I've very patient with waiters but my friends and I had the WORST customer service experience ever, the waitresses were terrible. To begin we walked inside and were ignored by three waitresses for 5 minutes before one of them was kind enough to tell us to go through the restaurant to outside. Once we walked out we didn't see a hostess and decided to seat ourselves....we were greeted 5 minutes later with the waitress informing us that our "food will take longer since you seated yourselves" she did not smile and was very quick. She came later to take our order, before asking for it she looked at us and laughed and proceeded to ask what we wanted... we did not receive our food not until an hour later...while we saw multiple tables being served before us who came in way later than ourselves. The food was very good will admit, but the water tasted like it came straight from the lake and my girlfriend found a hair in her sandwich (yummy). We waited close to 30 minutes after we finished before we received a check-- which was for the wrong table. We waited by the hostess stand to ask for the correct check and were passed by two waitress twice. We decided to go inside and kindly addressed the fact that we got the wrong check. She fixed it but didn't apologize or offer a discount for the wait or wrong check. She made a couple confusing comments about how to pay and then we were off. read more

The restaurant at PM Park is the oldest continuously operated eating establishment in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa. It dates from the early 1900s when the land was purchased as the summer camp of the Patriarchs Militant (hence 'PM') order of the Odd Fellows. The restaurant occupies the lower floor of the building. The restaurant is a long-standing favorite place for family meals for people who live and vacation around Clear Lake. My favorite menu item is the everything hash browns for a leisurely brunch on Sunday. The food is not fancy. It is your basic small town restaurant fare and makes for a highly enjoyable meal. The restaurant is situated in a park setting with plenty of oak trees and a sandy lake-front beach. It is right next to Clear Lake Boats, the most well-known full-service marina serving Clear Lake. Enjoyed onion rings along with haddock sandwich (August 2014). Wonderful shore lunch, don't miss it! read more

I had high expectations for this restaurant and all of my expectations went out the door when I was served my food. Good service, but I found myself VERY disappointed in the lack of flavor and quality of my breakfast. Biscuits were burnt, bacon was dripping in grease and my French toast was eggy. It's overpriced for what you get and I would NOT recommend coming here. My food was cold & greasy and automatically put me in a bad mood this morning. I was also appalled that I had to drink water from the lip of a cup?? What kind of establishment doesn't offer straws??? Absolute madness. Good water. PM Park is down to earth, family friendly, great food, in a beautiful setting. PM park has superb burgers; I love the sunset burger with bacon, cheese, and barbecue sauce and my husband likes the J Buffet. We have also tried chicken tenders and salads; never have we been disappointed.On our last visit to Clear Lake, we went to PM PArk to eat 3/4 days. Some may think the waitress staff are slow, but have they really watched them when it is busy. They are really excellent and most are in college, just graduated, or in graduate school. If it's not busy, they take time to talk. You never see them doddling around; they are cleanng, running, and always smiling. Who wants to be rushed out of a setting like PM Park. My Wife is from Ventura Iowa, and whenever I go up there with her I try the famous Iowa Tenderloin sandwhich. The place is old fashioned campy summertime lake nice. You can eat and look at this little lake at the same time. I have to tell you this Tenderloin creation was out of this world. It was HUGE, light meaty, fresh and just Wonderful. I originally heard good things about this place. Food was ok. Our salads were literally swimming in the dressing, they should put it on the side. The service was bad. Came with a large group about 30 and only 1 server was taking our orders, I asked all the servers what was in the chicken salad and not a single one knew, they had to go look for the ingredients.
