Now the bank has put a 9 day hold on the funds even though the money has been taken from the check providers account. The branch blames the Federal Reserve. This goes against all of their check deposit policies.

I recently went to them to open another basic checking account and was told they now have a minimum $3500 deposit, in order to get free checking, and if your balance falls below that then they charge you $13 per month. Not that $13 is a lot, but some banks its totally free, no minimum requirements, and although I was going to deposit much more, as I do like to move my money around a lot and did not like the though of possibly having to pay the $13 fee if my balance went under $3500. Many other banks follow this same policy, not just 5/3. I did not see any benefit over another bank that offers totally free checking accounts, so I went to the other bank and opened an account there. The staff at 5/3 was friendly and nice as expected, and apologized for the fees, but said that is how corporate does it now. Overall, just another bank offering the same services, but for a price or with restrictions. Up to each person if they don't mind monthly fees, or the potential for them. I dislike being nickle and dimed myself.

Paperwork that was needed to release funds were 1st filed by them two days early, which then required us to come back in and refile. We refiled and then two weeks later we called to check on the status and we told we didn't turn paperwork in to them. Now we have to refile again, due to their incompetence!
