The inside was still pink and reddish, and the texture was chewy, which clearly indicated that it was undercooked. I called over one of the staff members (a Korean man) and explained the issue. He insisted that the chicken looked pink because it had been marinated in sauce. He also said he would bring us an extra plate of chicken. I accepted his explanation at first. However, after trying another piece from the same plate, it was obvious that the chicken was still undercooked. I showed it to him again, but he refused to acknowledge the problem and kept insisting that the chicken was fully cooked. I am absolutely certain that it was not. I then asked if I could cancel the chicken dish, but he simply said, "No." I tried my best to explain my concern, yet instead of listening, he even asked me, "Do you understand?" Hands down my favorite spot for late night Korean eats! There was a bit of a wait when we arrived on a Saturday at 10:30 PM, but it wasn't too bad. Servers are all super friendly and helpful. My favorite thing to get is their rabokki! The texture of the tteok is perfectly chewy. I love how saucy it is, though the cheese can be kind of overwhelming after a few bites. Next time I think I would try it without the cheese. The pocha fries also impressed me! CORN CHEESE WAS THE BEST CORN CHEESE I EVER HAD oh my lord the corn was crunchy but like not in a dry way and the cheese had infinite cheese pull even after the dish had cooled down a bit and tasted like mozzarella. Soy garlic chicken was perfectly sweet, crunchy, oily, tender on the inside. I've never had such a pleasurable experience eating Korean fried chicken but I kept knocking my head back because of how delicious it was. And the pickled radish that it came with was perfectly tart, sweet, and crunchy so it added just enough acidity to the equation. And the cabbage slaw also paired well to cut through the greasiness although the mayo dressing did throw me off a bit--but just a tiny bit. The tteokbokki was the greatest bang for your buck in my opinion. The dish that it came out was huge and it comes with a boiled egg. I could have been satisfied with just the portion of the tteokbokki but ended up just taking it home. The rice cakes were perfectly chewy and the sauce was pretty mildly spicy and sweet. I don't know who was cooking it up in the kitchen but double thumbs up to them. Oh, and everything came out like within the first 10 minutes of ordering which honestly shocked me because I'm so used to waiting like 20-30 minutes for my order. They're lightning fast. And the server checked in on us every 5-10 minutes or so which I appreciated. The vibes were so pleasant and chill. The other customers seemed like they liked being there which should be a given but you'd be surprised how much it kills the vibe when the people around you look like they don't want to be there. I will say that because the parking lot in the back is pretty small I would be super careful because when I went someone had their car rear-ended T^T But overall, I was having a pretty poopy past 48 hours but the amazing food and service at Pocha K gave me so much comfort. Something I wished I knew before I dined here: This is a Korean drinking spot with some food options; this is not a restaurant with a lot of food options. Parking situation: Tricky with a handful of spots. There is a sign asking you to get a ticket from the nextdoor smoke shop to secure a spot in the larger parking lot at the back. Securing the ticket does not cost money but requires you to write the smokeshop a 5* review on Google and show proof. Ambiance: The entrance to the restaurant was extremely unwelcoming and filled with vomit; somebody had clearly had too much to drink. The interior was thankfully much nicer. It is dim lit and has a drinking hole vibe. The whole place is very aesthetically decorated with alcohol bottle caps, but seating is pretty cramped. The food: I am an ardent fried chicken fan and this is the first time I realized that fried chicken can also taste bad. Yelp reviews pointed me to the soy garlic boneless fried chicken and while the description said that the chicken would be covered in a spicy and sweet sauce, it was doused in sugary syrup in reality. There was absolutely no spice to the dish and the sauce was so sugary it gave me a headache. I asked for some hot sauce which helped a little, but it's a dish I would never order again. Also, the portion was pretty limited given it was a $25.5 plate of fried chicken. Our other dish - the $28 spicy seafood tofu soup was much better though portions could definitely be more generous. The soy garlic Korean fried chicken here is quite good, and I'm not even a big fan of it. They do go pretty overkill on the mozzarella here, which is perfect for cheese enjoyers. You can't go to Pocha K without ordering their signature pocha fries, which is ketchup, mayo, and mustard drizzled on a heaping plate of Cheetos and French fries.
