Gifts are of the mass produced, 'candy coated' variety and come in the form of cuddly toys and ornaments that generally come under the heading of 'cute'. You have probably guessed by now that 'cute' is not exactly what I go for when considering buying presents for a friend, and so in general I give the gift selection a pretty wide birth. Nevertheless, this is a large shop that carries a broad selection of cards, some of which I really quite like. I prefer to receive handmade cards of the artsy variety, but I don't like to impose my tastes on others, and so instead I opt to buy cards that I think the recipient will like. Here I can buy all manner of cards to suit every occasion and person. There's everything from bawdy and comical to touching and floral.

In my opinion Dew appeals more to the younger shopper (which I like to think of myself as), although I'm pretty sure that much of the jewellery on offer would suit any age! I particularly liked their range of faux pearl jewellery (despite that being so last year), and I think some of their beaded bags would make lovely christmas or birthday gifts.

The clothes are, as might be expected, bright and colourful. Here you can get something that's a little bit different while still being of a good high quality. You can appease a child's need to the bright and poofy, while still feeling like you're not a cruel parent. There is also a good selection of fun toys and gifts. I recommend this shop to any parent. But also to people who need to buys a present for a child without knowing where to begin.

But they're here now, much to the delight of parents everywhere. Fred and Grace's offers exquisite designer clothing for children under the age of 10, as well as accessories for a range of seasons. Nestled in the Morgan Arcade, it's not as easy to get to as your larger emporium type stores, but if you're in the market for high-quality kids' clothes, definitely stop by here. It beats fighting the crowds at Mothercare on a Saturday!

Four Seasons are always adding on weird and wonderful extras to their store, they used to also sell fresh flowers and they are soon to be offering military-ware where the flowers used to be (rather like tarmacking paradise I fancy). The outfits are not cheap, but they are reasonable. The slightly incongruous rack of cards however, contain not the most attractive or modern cards you've ever seen, but very cheap ones. Bargain.

But now there have been some big changes to the current store filled with the brightest lights and the bubbliest of people. This is a gigantic store that a child could get lost in for months. It has such a fantastic variety of toys and I can live my dream once again and pretend to have a lightsaber fight in order to defeat the dark side. The number of aisles are staggering but there is always an assistant prepared to help if you need some help about an item or just finding your way around the store. Toy's R Us has the renovation it needed. It is now a happy and bright place that is filled with all the toys in the world along with excellent service. Value: The most surprising part about this store. Usually, whenever I come across a small independent gift shop the prices are very dear. However, Doodlebug's merchandise is relatively reasonably priced and of great quality as well. Variety: There's loads of goodies you can get from Doodlebug. I bought cute scented erasers for my little cousins. Essentially, a visit here will probably leave you wishing you were rich to buy everything. From adorable money banks, hilarious cards, to adorable stationary. If you're all out of gift ideas this Christmas, there might be something at Doodlebug to inspire you. Customer Service: The downside. The staff here had anything BUT holiday cheer and weren't very welcoming. When I went to the counter with my purchases they were not friendly at all. Just told me the price and then turned around to talk to each other. I mean I know retail jobs suck, but at least PRETEND like you have some holiday cheer. --- Overall, I quite like Doodlebug for its reasonably priced and adorable merchandise. However, the staff really need to step up their game because they don't exactly make me want to come back.
