In a way it seems to be one of those places that indicates that Reservoir is slowly but surely being bitten by the hipster bug. However, being tucked away down in the back streets means that it can be a little difficult to find. Anyway, seeing it, and doubting that I would be down here again any time soo, I decided to pop in for a coffee. Well, coffee was pretty cool, but I also have to mention that Darth Vader was also standing in the middle of the room. I'm not sure what he was waiting for because he was there when I arrived, and I got my coffee before he got anything, so I'm still a little baffled. However, as a coffee spot it wasn't bad.

We stopped by early on a Sunday morning and were blown away by the sheer amount of space on the inside. Perfect seating options with small tables for parties of 2-4 to large tables which are big enough to fit a big family with extra space for prams and cute little booths for a more private meal. We were quickly shown a seat by the window and our coffee orders taken. We perused the menu, suited for breakfast, brunch, lunch OR dinner! Great options to suit all kinds of tastes. This place is an all day eatery with a fantastic wine and cocktail list to boot. We ordered the hotcake stack and sweet corn fritters with eggs. Given the amount of people they were serving we were surprised to get our meal within 15 minutes. Both meals pretty as a picture and the perfect size. I can't fault a thing with either meal, the ingredients matched perfectly. The hotcakes so light and fluffy with a delicious white chocolate cream on top and the sweet corn fritters (also like corn slice fried to crispy goodness) were simply amazing with perfectly poached eggs and dill cream. Now let's talk about the service - attentive and friendly. At one point someone came over the check we had received our coffee. We had, we just drank it so fast and the dirty cups were taken away so quickly our waitress hadn't noticed... Such a small and insignificant thing which made us notice how well we were taken care of. George Jones is definitely not what you would expect from a little inner suburban cafe with no competition around, but it has surpassed our expectations and we will be back many times to come.

I picked up a brochure and discovered it was "That's Amore" located in Thomastown! That's the place! They don't just sell cheese here either. If you love beautiful Italian cheese - imagine fresh tubs of ricotta & tasty pecorino, delicious ricotta canoli to have with coffee, or fancy mouth watering porchetta in a crispy bread roll, like those you may have tasted in a Perugian town in Italy, then you should definitely visit That's Amore.

Ordered a pizza and wrote in the comments I did not want olives. Pizza came with olives. Pizza was very light on with toppings and very ordinary. Lamb risotto was fine. Restaurant did not answer the email comment on menulog which now won't allow me to write a review. Review is now on trip advisor and other places. The meal arrived when it was supposed to but such a shame two of the meals were not what I wanted. Total lack of professionalism not responding to the menulog comment. Would not order from here again. Plenty of better Italian places in the area. It appears the restaurant changed owners recently and is not what older reviews say anymore.

I must say that he certainly wasn't wrong about that. It is basically one of those hip coffee shops but located in Reservoir (which is yet to become as trendy as some of the inner suburbs). Not only was the coffee (and the tea) pretty good (especially with the dainty pots that they serve them in) they also have those rather odd items on the menu, such as the coconut porridge that was served in a glass jar. Mind you, this place does become awfully crowded on a weekend, and it also closes pretty early as well, but certainly a place worth checking out.
