The land is beautiful and scenic with a outside area for eating breakfast. Although we did not use the pool, they did have one available. The location is okay. It's about 12 km to the beach. I'm surprised that this place received such positive reviews. The one thing that ruined our experience here was the owner. From the moment we arrived, she seemed a bit rude. She knocked on our door abruptly to tell my boyfriend to put his shoes inside (he was airing them for a little bit). That was just our first encounter with her. It worsened throughout our stay. Later in the night, we were planning to go to a restaurant near the place. We told her we would be going at night, and she acted a bit concerned because the bikes they lend do not have lights (therefore it would be hard to see at night). She offered the dinner service there as an alternative. My boyfriend was set on this restaurant (He was raving about it the whole trip), so we didn't take the offer. After discovering the restaurant was closed, he went downstairs to ask her if we could have dinner there. Firstly, she was super rude when he asked.While she was speaking to other tourists who were having dinner and told him rudely to wait. When talking to him aside, she said she would have to "check" with the kitchen (which was basically her and maybe one other guy in the kitchen). She then said it wasn't possible, and made the excuse that they didn't have enough ingredients, which we thought strange since she offered about one hour before this. So we had to bike to another place to eat dinner. When we came back (it was a reasonable time, no later than 12 am), she accosted us and asked us worriedly if we took the bikes (even though she already know--we had told her earlier). As if she was our mother or something. The next day doesn't get any better. We had taken the bikes again to get to the beach (about a 12 km. ride). On the way there, one of our bikes started to have issues. The chain was loose as well as the pedals. My bf noticed the issue with the pedals from the very first day, but it just now started acting up. We tried for a quick fix, but the issue kept reoccurring. We were a bit worried because the owner had us sign a contract before using the bikes that we would have to pay 150 euros if one of the bikes broke (which is ridiculous, considering that the bikes were in pretty poor condition). Our time was very limited and we lost probably about an hour because of this break down. Luckily, a guy down the rode had a tool box and helped us out. It was a quick fix which got us to the beach and back to the place safely. But we're positive that the next person who uses that bike will most likely face the same trouble we had. When returning back to the hotel, we were rushing since we had limited time. My boyfriend asked her if she could call a cab, and she was huffing and puffing as if she was going out of her way to do us a huge favor. This was incredibly rude, considering this is her job! Any place with decent service should understand this. Luckily, we were only here for a day and a half. If we were here longer, she would be unbearable. I'm not sure why she was so rude to us. Anyways, would not recommend this place. It's a shame how bad the service was because the place was lovely.

It wasn't until 2008 that I had the opportunity to visit Casa Caponetti for the first time. It's gorgeous! Just outside the ancient Etruscan town of Tuscania is this ~200 acre horse/olive farm with trees as old as 500 years! Lorenzo has built upon his family's land an amazing farm that produces some of Italy's best olive oil. There is also a new restaurant in development. Chef Mark Medina-Rios formerly of A Voce, in NYC, is serving up farm to fork cuisine in the intimate dining room just off the kitchen. The lodge is being renovated and there is a resource efficient new dining space in the works. The Via Claudia, first road north from Rome, runs directly through the property with Etruscan tombs scattered around the grounds. There is even a 2,800 year old water cavern that harvests H2O from the atmosphere. This place is epic and worth the trip!

Everything is beautiful here. The rooms are very modern and comfortable, our private balcony was lovely. BTW, wine & beer are fairly popular inexpensive with extensive choices. Secondi; the best gnocchi I ever had and stronghetti del Podere (fettuccine with mixed vegetables.) Sooooooo f#%ing good. Podere Giulio is a major reason I'm returning to Italy; soon! Great food, awesome service, and a fantastic, comfortable setting. It doesn't get much better than this. My husband went online and booked the accommodation. We hit the road and had a great time exploring along the way. I especially was enamored with the Stone Pines and studied each and every tree we passed. We arrived and needed to use the restroom and was a bit hungry. It's in that condition that I learned my husband didn't book a cabin, he booked a platform tent. I was NOT happy. I was REALLY not happy. We went to look at the tent and then to find the restrooms. I was REALLY REALLY not happy to learn that the nearest restroom was, if I remember correctly, over 300(?) steps away. So going to the restroom at night would be a "deal". I wasn't in the mindset for a "deal". I also wasn't aware that we needed to bring our own everything (toilet tissue, soap, etc.) At this time I had yet to learn this campground was so extremely popular. Only open for a few months a year, they're most always completely booked and we were dang lucky to get that tent. Fast forward: we went to the small convenience store at the campground and purchased some toilet paper and soap. Then we went to check out the restaurants for dinner and alcohol. I gave myself a ridiculous headache. As we were seated and our wine was delivered, with each sip my upset turned to gratitude. The experience was so unique. Everyone was so friendly. The beach and sea was just a short walk path walk away. The guests were international and all ages, babies to seniors. Those Stone Pines that I was enamored with the drive there ... I found myself in a forest of them. Our tent lived beneath a canopy of them. It was PERFECT. I sat there and laughed at myself and apologized to my husband who was feeling horrible over the gift which masqueraded as a mistake. There's a variety of accommodations that can be rented, including your own camper. The campground is a circular design and spaced along are large toilet/sink/shower buildings for men and women. Cook your own food or go to one of their restaurants. This is a really family-friendly campground and they have a lot of activities for children that go into the night. The more I learned about this campground the more I liked it. Hellz yeah I'd go back.
