THINK TWICE BEFORE HIRING BIGSTEELBOX We took possession of…read moreour brand new home in September 2024 and had our BigSteelBox delivered on the same day. The driveway was damaged during delivery of the BigSteelBox caused by the deck of the truck, which was captured on video. bigsteelbox.com states that "the BigSteelBox doesn't actually make contact with your driveway at all. No contact means no damage!". This may be true but what they don't tell you is that the deck of the truck may make contact with the driveway and cause noticeable damage. We reached out to BigSteelBox and provided videos along with some photos of the damage. The manager came by the house to review the damage and mentioned that he would acquire some quotes to determine the repair cost. From what I can tell, he only received quotes for the application of a brush on patch. From the research I've done and discussions I've had with local concrete companies, I understand that a patch is only a temporary fix that would stand out from the rest of the driveway. I tried explaining this to the manager and said that we would not be satisfied with a brush on patch. Being a new driveway, we didn't think it was unreasonable to expect BigSteelBox to return the driveway to a reasonably new state that looked consistent and uniform. We provided a quote to the manager from a local company to have the driveway sandblasted and sealed which was less costly than having the damaged section of the driveway replaced. The manager came back with an offer of $600 to cover the cost of a brush on patch and would not consider any other options. As an analogy, if someone broke your window, would you be satisfied with a duct tape patch as the repair? I've also sent emails to feedback@bigsteelbox.com and admin@bigsteelbox.com to hopefully reach some kind of fair resolution but did not receive a reply. Needless to say, we are very disappointed with the customer service we received from BigSteelBox and hope that this doesn't happen to anyone else.

From simply E-signing my agreement via email to answering my urgent calls and emails during off hours the owners were very helpful with all my needs. I was transitioning from Calgary to BC in 2020 and they were so helpful, caring and everyone's very easy to talk to. My son was looking for a place to store his belonging during covid and is now using Alberta Storage Place for his furniture. They know us by our first names. We are not just a Unit #. From the moment my adult daughter and I walked into the office, their representative was very helpful with my "shopping list" of questions I had - done in a friendly, yet professional manner. Donald, the representative asked if we needed any cold drinks, supplies, and most of all - the appropriate safety lock for my items; and "sprinkled " with a history of this family/run business, (of which I try to support). Thank you Donald for building such a rapport! As previously stated, I only needed storage for a short period of time, but I had to change my length of stay several times. This was accommodated by all the staff without any qualms. A fine example that the company will work WITH if need be. I was also impressed that the company ALSO offers space to store cars; etc. I love the fact that despite being a woman, I felt very safe dealing such a "manly" task. The only thing missing was a well behaved pet gracing the office. Once again, sharing the history behind the beautiful framed pictures, was a warm business touch. I've been using Outer Space Storage for about a year now and they've been great. The main owner (or…read moremanager?) is super nice and very helpful, originally he gave me a tour, showed me how to access the unit, use the key and answered any questions that I had. You can access you unit at almost any time through a secure gate with your code. They have also lent me trolleys to help with moving which is super appreciated. The units aren't heated so visiting in the winter can get a bit chilly but the location is so convenient and the prices are good.

To U-Haul's credit they will give compensation when that occurs. I moved from Ottawa to Calgary. There was an issue with the auto trailer not being available at my Ottawa location after having reserved it. I had to pick one up along the way so we drove the truck and our vehicle for 100 km. The Calgary office refunded me an extra days rental for the truck because of the inconvenience. They were polite. For that reason I am giving them a good review.
