The restaurant itself is very intimate and small, but has a cozy vibe to it. The service was honestly not the best. While waiting, we weren't given water. We had to ask for water, utensils, and napkins AFTER receiving our food and had to wait a bit for it and remind them a few times about it. The server at the time made it seem like we were inconveniencing her by asking for basic stuff. Mind you, it wasnt busy at all when we went. Maybe they were just having a bad day tho, so no worries, but def deducting a star for it lol. That being said, the food is here is amazing! Some of the best katsu I've had and hands down amazing jjamppong. I will definitely be coming back, so that server better be prepared to inconvenienced again lol.

So...here I was again, but this time, not so good. As much as I love this restaurant (I mean how great is this idea of a Tonkatsu Bowl??), things are a bit inconsistent. It's like I LOVE it, then hate it, etc.etc. This time, I tried this Tonkatsu Bowl w/ Tteokbokki (I forgot the name)...and also a side order of Corn Cheese. Well, as much as I anticipated a cute presentation of the Tonkatsu Bowl w/ Tteokbokki (as depicted in their ad), it was an utter mess! Primarily because they overloaded the bowl with a ton of tasteless raddish and onions (WAY too much!!)...not so much of the Tteokbokki In fact, the portion of the Tteokbokki itself was very small...it was mostly these chunky cuts of raddish and onions. ?!?!? They also overloaded the sauce. You could barely see the Tonkatsu Bowl. Basically, the presentation was terrible...a total mess!! The taste was good though...as the Tteokbokki wasn't too spicy, and their Tonkatsu is always good. As for the Corn Cheese, it was WAY too cheesy. I barely could taste the corn...just WAY too much cheese. Again, it was a total miss this time. *SIGH* The service was good...and again, I love this restaurant, and I did NOT want to go below 4 stars...but just look at my dish!! IT was a MESS. If this was any other restaurant, I would have rated 2 stars for what I got...but again, this is not a typical restaurant. Hopefully I can bump the ratings back up next time. I just wish they were more consistent with the foods and the presentation here.

I always thought this place was a cafe because of the name and never knew they had dishes like pasta! We tried the donpasta and loved the creamy carbonara with the crispy katsu. Its a great combo and a good portion. The dish was about $20. We also tried the ufo kimchi and spam combo for $15. With the cheese corn. We paid for the 3.99 add on sweet potato cheese ball. The rice was good but I didnt think it stood out as much, especially because the kimchi fried rice is something I make at home too. The sweet potato ball was just okay. I brought home a part of the ufo and it heated up well with all the cheese. Still enjoyable. Dishes range from $15 to 20! Service was friendly and you get a pitcher of water at the table. Id go back for the don pasta!

Had the "don-pas" which is a combination of donkatsu + pasta. For the pasta, I got the carbonara which was good, and then the donkatsu is just a regular pork katsu. Overall, this place is cool with a nice wooden interior and a pretty unique menu set. My friend really urged on going here for dinner on the night before our 10 miler race, so we dined here and it was a good time. Portions here are also pretty big so be prepared to eat a lot or take some home!

If you want massive portions, here is the place to go! Food is pretty good. I recommend the donkatsu + choice of pasta. Really filling and tastes great. I enjoyed the carbonara pasta. Service was fine and food came out in decent time despite the restaurant being busy. Restaurant is clean and is dine here again.

All the dishes we had were so so good. Price is very reasonable ranging from 13.99-18.99. The server was so nice. Would definitely come back!

This was a tasty and heavy meal! Prepare to take a nap after. The carbonara was creamy and salty. The katsu paired nicely with it. The katsu was very thin, but because it's such a heavy meal I didn't mind it. We also got the basil clams pasta which was also tasty. The basil and clams flavor were light. I'm a big fan of clams, but preferred the carbonara over it.

Phenomenal experience from the service to the food. UFO fried rice with kimchi & spam was delightful especially in combination with the oozy steamy bed of corn cheese. We also enjoyed the donkatsu poetree pasta but thought some portions of the cutlet was a bit tough, nonetheless delicious. Great vibes and decor as well.

So upset I haven't been here sooner! I've heard of Poetree since they first opened their doors but I've just never made the initiative to stop by. This day my sisters and I decided to meet up for a quick lunch and chose Poetree since it's very close to one of my sister's place of work. Upon entering we were greeted by an outstanding waitress. She was the only one throughout the place and did an amazing job. Not to forget to add she was extremely polite to everyone that came in, greeting, servicing, taking payments, up to thanking us for coming and to have a good day. All the little bows were on another level. Foods we ordered had us all in awe. The donkatsu is definitely the star. And the donkatsu bowl is genius!! I especially loved how crispy the protein was even as leftovers! My least favorite had to have been the menchi donkatsu which I forgot to take a picture of.. it just wasn't what I was expecting. Overall we had a great lunch with plenty of leftovers and as my little nephew said everything was, "so yummy!"

Food is absolutely delicious. The portions are enormous and extremely generous with the seasoning and sides. Service was fast, food took almost little to no time coming out, and it is HOT! Poetree can get busy at times and the ambiance felt more akin to a restaurant than a cafe. Overall this place has been my all-time favorites and I would 1,000% recommend anyone-who is in the area-to give Poetree a try! No matter what you order, you cannot go wrong since everything is simply delicious to say the least. However I do personally recommend their katsu, the crispiness of the breading is TO DIE FOR!!!!

The food was decent. I felt like the portion sizes really varied from dish to dish. My boyfriend had the teriyaki pork belly and while it was delicious, it was more of an appetizer than a meal. I had the build your own UFO with the chicken fried rice, egg, and corn cheese. There was very little corn and that's kind of the reason I ordered the dish to begin with. I liked that the servers don't bother you constantly; if you need assistance you push the button. If you are the needy type of customer this isn't the place for you.

The shrimp were delicious and prepared just like I'm used to. This dish is lightly battered fried shrimp with a soy sauce bases sauce with red pepper and black pepper spices. It also features other sautéed veggies like green peppers and onions. The shrimp were spiced nicely, but also had the flavor of black pepper coming through. A lot of places don't get that right. The perfect mix of that spice red pepper heat and hint of black pepper are exactly why I love about this dish. The shrimp were fried perfectly and the veggies deliciously sauted. The Haemul Jjampong was a flavor and spice bomb. The broth was so flavorful and had a great essence of the seafood in it (squid, mussels, abalone). This soup is also for people not afraid of the spice...it was SPICY, but no so much that it was unenjoyable. The spice complemented the flavor and I loved it. The take-home of the leftovers was just as good the next day! If I had to say anything that they might think of changing, would be the addition of kimchi to the banchan. The banchan was ddanmuji (pickled radish, raw white onions, marinated white onion slivers, and soy marinated peanuts). A little plate mat kimchi to wrap around the Jjampong noodles would be perfection.
