What a beautiful venue in a beautiful part of Tuscany. We occupied many of the Bed & Breakfast's rooms; some shared rooms and others had rooms or suites to themselves. Il Sole del Sodo is run by the delightful and ever-helpful Claudia, along with Rose and Paola, her terrific staff. The morning breakfast buffet is terrific with lots of delicious home baked goods. The breakfast bar also includes fresh fruit, cheese, and charcuterie, plus eggs for a little extra by request. Four of our group took a cooking class from Claudia; it was fun and the food we made for their dinner was outstanding and authentic Italian. Claudia cooks dinner only a couple of times per week, so be sure to arrange that in advance. We opted for dinner on the day we arrived, and it was a very relaxing dinner in the beautiful and quiet garden patio. The property includes a pool so bring a swimsuit. Because we didn't all have a rental car, Claudia even helped us arrange for transportation during the week. The location is at the bottom of the hilltop town of Cortona and it's a fun hike up to the top of Cortona through the vineyards, horse property, and olive trees. Or you can hike the road but it's not as fun, especially during heavy traffic times. Try to get a room near the pool toward the back of the property as some in our party had rooms on the second floor and could hear some road noise at night. Claudia was very responsive during our months of planning, giving us recommendations for restaurants and other places in the area. Overall, the experience at Il Sole del Sodo was wonderful and is highly recommended.

The grounds and amenities are lovely--Elena found this estate more than 18 years ago in terrible shape but used her fashion design background wisely! We cannot recommend this place enough, everyone is raving about how lucky we are to be here.

We felt comfortable right away. All the 5 star reviews and great ratings on TripAdvisor are not a coincidence as we felt like we mattered so much every moment of our 3 night stay. From restaurant recommendations, to being greeted with a bottle of prosecco and even allowed to borrow their GPS for our entire stay, this was hand-holding at it's best. But they also made sure to give us a ton of space so we felt a sense of privacy the entire time. The Breakfasts! Each morning offered a new take on a delicious (and luxurious) breakfast with a very generous amount of food. The fresh, local and seasonal ingredients combined with Malvin's exceptional skills in the kitchen made these breakfasts a huge highlight of the stay. Quite possibly the 3 best breakfast's I've ever eaten in my life. And he took beverage requests and would whip up an espresso, cappuccino or tea to pair in a jiffy (often offering seconds) The Location The location was ideal. The house itself felt very tucked away in the country and was very peaceful. It was also just 5-10 minutes from the A1 freeway so that traveling by car on day trips to further away towns was convenient. Or you could take the country roads to some of the closer Tuscan villages. All in all, we went to around 7 towns in just 3 days and still felt like we spent a good amount of time at the house itself. The X Factor(s) Quite simply, the generous balance of feeling pampered in Tuscan luxury but also having very approachable hosts who made you feel like their home was yours. Plus, having only 4 guest suites in the property keeps things very quiet and allows them to keep offering the personal touches that make the stay so rewarding. Based on the way we were treated, the wonderful food and how beautiful the house and surroundings were, we would never choose any other place, should we go back to Tuscany in the future. 5 stars all the way!

We used this as our base for exploring Tuscany, as the location was perfect. The accommodations are somewhat rustic and simple, but spacious and clean. We chose to have Denise prepare dinner for us in the evenings, where we ate the most delicious meals served under grape vines in the garden. Well worth the 25 euro per person, and Denise was kind enough not to charge my son. The meals were prepared with much love and care and it was the perfect way to end a busy day of touring the medeival hillside towns. Pure perfection, and we highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone looking for a true Tuscan experience.

The rooms are located in a 13th-century farmhouse, and come with terracotta floors and wooden beams on the ceilings. There are 12 rooms in the boutique hotel. The location of the hotel is very special since it is located in between Pienza and Montepulciano with marvelous Chianti scenery. The Santo Pietro's well-tended gardens feature several patio areas, furnished with tables and chairs. The pool is surrounded by padded-teak deck chairs, tables, and parasols. The public areas of the hotel is very relaxing, the small pool area is also helpful to rest under the Tuscan sun... Most of the service people are very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast is not bad with variety of freshly baked cakes, croissants and tarts. The dinner that we had at its restaurant was perfect. We had true Tuscan food with fresh vegetables, delicious meat with perfect wine. There are many people who only came for lunch and dinner. The rooms are very clean, the towels are soft and the amenities such as soap, shampoo and body lotion are special Tuscanian products. However there are some negative issues with the rooms. First, the hotel faces a busy traffic road and it was very hard to sleep since it is impossible to open the windows because of the noise. Although the rooms were nicely decorated, there was not a mirror in the room and there is only one chair. Therefore there is not a place to put your staff in the room. The other problem was the coverage of the wifi. It is not possible to use it in the rooms and pool area. Although it was a bit pricey we had very nice time at Tenuta Santo Pietro.

Asked reception about this and the there is a card that needs to be inserted in a slit to keep the power on. The maids pulled the card when they left and left Us in the dark... No one said a word about this at check in. Unprofessional. Next up I tried to take a shower and found lukewarm water. Disappointing. The shower controls have a safety button to keep one from blasting hot water but even a full tilt the water is just lukewarm. Unprofessional.
