I come to this beach to clear my head. It's always clean and pleasant. Paking is $3/hr and the machine takes cash and credit cards. Not the most beautiful beach I've been too but Point Pleasant Beach is special in it's own way. We found a spot at their municipal parking quite easily, BUT when we were about to pay the muni meter didn't work and had to look for one that work and OMG when we found one that work it took so long to process. Come on now! They have a little amusement park which was nice, a bar that sells food, and a dessert place that sells ice cream and frozen yogurt. I love how they have a lot of seating at the beach with small palm trees and tiki huts. I felt i was on a vacation at a resort already, very nice. As you walk down the shore there's a whole line of beach houses behind you. The sand is soft and in certain areas it can be rough please wear slippers you don't want to hurt yourself with broken calm shells. You will encounter A LOT of seagulls, I never seen so many seagulls in my life. I even saw a tiny baby seagull, very adorable and walks incredibly fast. There's a lot of room, quite a crowd too. When we were there, they had a live singer there. Nice, relaxing, and peaceful place. Might I add the weather was beautiful too, can't get any better. read more

I love Point Pleasant!!! I have been coming here since I was a little girl and Jenkinson's Boardwalk is my one favorites and kid friendly. Martell's Tiki Bar is definitely a place to get great food!! On this day, I tried the Cheesesteak with everything on it and it was delicious! Good tip: their huge slices of pizza are amazing and my sister was in love with Taylor Ham and Cheese Sandwich. I would have loved to sit outside but it was a bit too chilly for me. Jenkinson's Sweet Shop is one of my favorite places in THE WORLD!! You walk in and are taken in by all the sweets. Another plus: they are open all year round and have a website. I don't have to travel all the way from Essex County to get treats I LOVE!! As well, the service here is absolutely phenomenal!!! So patient, knowledgeable, and service with a smile. Even the younger workers who work at the arcades are friendly and it's an all around good vibe. This town (Point Pleasant Beach) is a money making scam. The parking is way over priced and they give out senseless parking tickets in droves. We received one for parking slightly askew in our parking spot. The car did not extend outside the parking space and we received a $50 ticket and $21 in court fees. This town is only concerned with making money and has gone down hill. read more

DO NOT VISIT THIS BEACH or support them. Do a quick Google search on Point Pleasant and its corruption in handling parking tickets. Do not visit this beach unless you are willing to pay an arm/leg for parking, beach access, and then the parking ticket for "improper display of PAID parking ticket" that is $50. Only visit this beach if you enjoy calling the violations bureau court afterwards and getting hung up on, or mentioning their bad press on Google and having their intern say, "I'm sorry, I don't read Google." This might possibly have been the worst beach experience I have ever had. Normally I like to go to the NY beaches but I thought I would give the Jersey shore a chance and change it up a bit. In the past few years Jersey has been taking initiatives to get people to show "support" by getting out to its beaches. Apparently, beaches like Point Pleasant don't need any support because they rob you blind before you even make it to the sand. As most of the reviews stated, parking is horrendous. I knew what to expect. Even the private paid parking lots can be full so I was quick to pull into one when I saw them put up the vacant sign. Despite no posting of prices, I sucked it up and paid the $25 fee to park all day. I guess they make up their prices depending on supply and demand. The boardwalk left no surprises. Pricey fried foods and desserts--which I have no problem with. Crowds. Parents and strollers galore. We grabbed a quick bite but when it came time to head to the actual beach, that's when the trouble started. "You have to pay to get on the beach," said a woman at a kiosk. We thought it was just a rental stand selling umbrellas and chairs. Turns out there's a $9.00 each charge to use the beach. Here's the kicker: she also tells us, "there's a riptide warning so the lifeguards are only allowing people to go up to their knees in the water." What???!! I know lifeguards are supposed to prevent accidents before they happen but to make sure that people don't swim is taking it to a whole new level. Seemed more like a liability issue. I know there's a huge Tiki bar on the beach where people are getting wasted but there's no need to punish the rest of the beach goers because Point Pleasant is afraid that one of these people might decide to take a dip against their better judgement. I guess the lifeguards are just there to make sure the drunks don't get in over their head--no pun intended. Easy job. I'm a strong swimmer and I don't go to the beach just to lounge around. Who would want to go to a beach where they aren't allowed to swim? I've never had that happen on a NY beach. Seems that this is the type of beach that caters to people that don't care about going into the water and are happy enough to strut their stuff, peacock on the beach/boardwalk, while embracing the stereotypes made famous by reality TV. Not for me. We were only there 10 minutes. Parking lot attendant refused to give us our $25 back. Not shocked. He also told us that there were no other beaches within 15 miles that would allow swimming with that warning in effect. That was a lie. We drove up a short distance north to Deal where there were no lifeguards, plenty of swimming, surfing, and sun. I swam out past the breakers where all the surfers were and there was a slight undertow closer to the beach, but no riptide to speak of. This was the beach I was looking for. The best part--everything was free. Call it bad timing or bad luck but I doubt I will ever come here again. Seemed like it would be a fun idea but they really need to work out the logistics of this beach. read more

The most striking thing, I found about this beach is the shore has a huge bank, so when laying on the beach or sitting, you can not see the shore line. In fact my standing 5'3" could not even see it. You had to walk up to it and then down, of course. We were there recently and it was when those rip tides were so strong and they chased us out of the Ocean an hour after we arrived. However, the tide washed up and over so much that kids were boogie boarding in this new formed pool and adults standing in it were waist deep! Only time I have ever paid to go onto a beach and I have been to many beaches, but the NJ Shore, it has been awhile. They have an amusement park right off the boardwalk, which is small, but pretty cool. Some neat looking restaurants, but we had already made other plans. Advise, park on the street before you arrive to the parking lots, they range from $16.00 ( full, sorry ) to $25.00. Point Pleasant is awesome. no, really. I say this as a lifelong outerboro kid whose default beaches are Rockaway and Coney, in that order. but if I'm going to a Jersey beach, Point Pleasant has what I'm looking for. clean beach, and getting on it is inexpensive (accessories like a chair or umbrella are cheap too). mixed crowd of people and no real "type" - it's pretty diverse. hard to beat $3 Red Stripes from the Jenks bar that you can drink out in open on the beach. props to Jenks for always accommodating the Stevens alumni BBQ every summer. boardwalk is clean and family-friendly, but there's plenty for adults to do too. there's an NJ Transit rail stop, but I've never taken it - even a friend of mine who's a mass transit aficionado prefers to drive. I do recommend driving here early, around 7:30/8ish, to beat traffic. plus, you can score a good parking spot, and prices in the parking lots go up later in the day. you can do a ton of things in a day here at Point Pleasant. you can do nothing either. yesterday, my friend sat in his chair, reading his Kindle and streaming music on his phone; I spaced out and sipped a cold brew while staring out at the waves. it's your pick. sometimes, life ain't so bad. read more

I was not impressed with this beach. We came here late in the day and we were expected the crowd to have died down. Boy, were we wrong. First, parking is horrific. We drove around for nearly an hour after getting into town trying to find somewhere to park. Feeling desperate, I even pulled off and asked someone if I could pay them to park in their driveway for a few hours but they weren't able to because they had someone else coming home. Embarrassed myself for nothing. Shortly after that, we found a parking space in a lot that charged $30. This was the cheapest and only spot we could find. We park the car and get up to the boardwalk and were not able to find any restrooms. I don't know if we were in the wrong area or what but we COULD NOT find any bathrooms that were for public use. The sand on this beach was not soft and relaxing. It was more rocky and rough, not that comfortable "Ahhhh" feeling I normally get when I take that step into the sand. Almost as soon as we got there, I regretted my decision to go here instead of Belmar. Oh well...you live and you learn. I was surprised though because the reviews on here made me think this place was going to be great. On the flip side, the fries from Chippy's were REALLY good and I loved the Starship 3000 ride that Jenk's had because I've had a hard time finding it anywhere else. read more

(Even though it was the closest beach to my house.) The parking is a MESS!!!!! You couldn't find a parking lot w/ a fee or free spots on the street. The Jersey Shore is in my blood. I've spent all of my childhood summers here. What's unique to Point Pleasant Beach and the Jersey shore besides its beaches are it's boardwalks. From Atlantic City, Seaside Beach, to everywhere in between. The boardwalks at the Jersey Shore are like no other. Some offer amusement rides, others offer games ,and great food you only get when your at the beach Point Pleasant is no exception. From the minute i arrived and hit that boardwalk i can smell the sausage and peppers cooking along with french fries and chicken fingers. The food is pretty much sandwiches and fried choices, some salads. Homemade chocolates and taffy which started at the Jersey Shore, and homemade fudge can u smell it? Custard ice cream, and orange Julius drinks, yum! The Tiki Hut is a small outdoor walk-up bar with 15 bar stool. After a hot day in the sun or if you just want a drink its a great place to come have a cool one. Point Pleasant Beach is family oriented. Quite a number of families like to fish off the bridge or pier. If you get there early enough say before 1030a there is a parking lot across from beach pay one price and park all day plus cost of beach badges. I love to come here but parking is very limited in Point Pleasant. There is great seafood restaurants in the area. ( locally caught can't get any fresher.) All the beaches have lifeguards on duty during the summer season 9-5p. The beaches are very clean and well maintained.It really depends on your age where you might decide which area of beach you will choose. ( If your 21 older your want to be near Tiki Bar.) Younger you might choose to be near rides. Point Pleasant's Beach along with boardwalk has been fully restored after the Storm so there is are no problems getting around. You really should come down and see it for yourself. read more

ESPN did a broadcast from Point Pleasant Beach. Though this is one of my least favorite beach towns at the shore because it lacks the beauty and charm and wholesomeness of the other towns it has it's own charm. The boardwalk itself is commercial and cluttered but the town has great sea food and the board walk is set up specifically for small children. It is kind of like a road side carnival but it is permanently at the beach. Unlike other Jersey shore towns it is not a dry town and has bars on the board walk. Brian Williams from NBC nightly news was at Martel's with his family. Notice that Micheal Kay picked Point Pleasant Beach in NJ because he knows that Jersey shore beaches are nicer than NY beaches and he broadcasts in New York. I've been coming here since I was a little kid and I can tell you Point Pleasant is one of my all time favorite beaches! It's got something great for everyone and I've grown up along with it. As a kid, I enjoyed the vast amount of kiddie rides the boardwalk offers, especially Crazy Bus, because that was definitely my favorite. Also, don't forget the aquarium. They have penguins there, which was always my favorite animal. As I grew older, I was entertained by the Himalaya and the Flitzer (I think it's still called that, the blue coaster in the back, but it used to be pink). The arcades are always a good time. My favorite is the one next to the rides. It also seems that they added more rides suited to older kids over the years. Now that I am over 21, I have enjoyed the drinks at Martell's and still the arcade. Those crane machines are addicting. Also, as always, the beach is great! Sometimes in the areas near the boardwalk, trash will blow off the boardwalk onto the sand. My suggestion is to park your beach blanket off of the main boardwalk area in either direction! Good for all ages! Point Pleasant is the best! read more

I am so sad at this place has become a total piece of crap I went there for the first time in 10 years and they wouldn't even let me walk on the beach I was very upset that I drove down there and wasn't able to go on the beach at all not even if I paid. They have little man and women that sit in guard all the entrances and you're actually not allowed to go on the beach this place is turned into such a gutter hole that I will never go there again. While growing up my family would always bring me here and I have fond memories of walking the boardwalk, hanging out at the arcade and going on the rides. This beach and boardwalk is family-friendly and clean. This is nothing like Seaside....so if you're looking for a Seaside experience take it to Seaside. Definitely worthwhile to get up at the crack of dawn and arrive early, because by the time we got there in early afternoon, parking was a complete nightmare. We spent very little time on the boardwalk, but the beach (Jenkinson's) was clean and the kids had a great time playing in the sand and burying Mommy and Daddy up to our necks. Having recently discovered the fun of boogie boarding down in Ocean City, Mommy and Daddy were extremely disappointed to discover that boogie boarding was pretty much impossible because the waves break too close to the beach. Maybe if the tide was lower it could be done, but there were so many people just standing around in the water that I'd be worried about crashing into people even if the waves were suitable. On Jul 2nd, 2017, I packed up my Jeep and went to the beach in hopes of a nice relaxing Sunday. I knew that parking was going to be difficult, since the July 4th holiday was two days away. I drove around the metered streets of Point Pleasant until I was able to get a spot (about a 15 minute walk to the shore). Here is where the experience began to decline: (1) The first meter that I went to pay for parking, I inserted $10 cash. There were two guys who paid right before me, which gave them no problem. When I put my cash into the machine, it must have just run out of tickets, because it accepted my money, but did not print a paid ticket to place on my dash. Mind you, for 1 hour of parking, it was $3. Since the machine read "No Refunds" and did not display a telephone number to call, I took the loss and paid by my debit card for another $9 at the meter down the street. Which I then placed the paid ticket face up on my driver's side dash, like the ticket explains. (2) To get onto the beach, you have to pay $10 - which is higher than most beaches in the surrounding area. For instance, Belmar is only $8 for the day and parking is free in the borough. I know... I should have went to Belmar, but I wanted to try a new beach. My mistake. (3) After staying on the beach until 5:30pm, (can't swim past 5:15pm) I found that I had been cited from the Point Pleasant Borough for "Improperly Displaying" my paid ticket. The citation was for $48. Which I assumed was a mistake since i paid to park and my ticket was due to expire at 6:43pm. So i figured I would call the borough office and see if I could scan my ticket and send it to them. Because in my mind THIS must have been a mistake. So today, I called the borough municipal office and explain that I am confused that I was cited when I paid for parking and still have the parking ticket that the meter printed to prove I paid. The employee then began to explain that the citation is not for whether or not I paid, it is for being improperly displayed. She then proceeded to tell me that I could set up a court date to fight the citation. I explained to her that being in Pennsylvania and working as a medical professional, I cannot easily take off from work during the week to fight a citation on whether or not I displayed a parking slip correctly on my dash board. I asked her if she had a lot of people who face this and she said they usually make a court appearance. So to sum up, Point Pleasant must be making a decent amount of money from people paying a parking meter then citing them for improperly displaying the slip. If you want to risk paying $67 on parking and $10 for beach access like I did, then by all means take a trip to PP Beach. I suggest driving the 15 minutes to Belmar beach and parking for free in the borough and paying $8 for the day to go on the beach. I know it means nothing to the borough or to many people, but i HONESTLY will never be going back to Point Pleasant ever again. I don't want to spend any money in a town where the borough is corrupt and making people pay unethical parking citations when they paid to park in the first place. read more

Couldn't believe it when I saw a ticket for "Improper Display of Paid Parking Receipt". The wind had blown the receipt upside down as I closed the door when I left the car. For FORTY EIGHT DOLLARS!!! so I called today, and was told if I wanted to fight it, I needed to show up in court. Sometimes they were upheld, sometimes thrown out, sometimes reduced, but she didn't know what the outcome would be. I can't understand how this is not a "Just prove you paid and we will drop the charge" sort of thing. NJ Municipal corruption on display for all to see here. I paid, and get to pay again, o joy! Never again, the prices are outrageous. $30 private parking lots, all full. Can't go on beach after 5pm unless you purchased a $10 per person beach badge earlier in the day. They will not let anyone in the water if the waves are bigger then 2-3 feet!!! No street parking, all spots require a permit. Small municipal lot is always full and is also a rip off. I've been going here for as long as I can remember. I even spent a summer down here when one of my friend's had a shore house, so Pt. Pleasant definitely holds a special place in my heart. The countless drunken nights at Jenks, sitting out on the patio at Tiki Bar at 1 in the afternoon and getting a buzz, the hungover mornings at Perks Cafe on Ocean Ave... ah, the memories. The parking situation continues to be my main issue when visiting, so my advice is to get there before 9am if you want a reasonable spot. Jenks Sweet Shop on the boardwalk is an excellent place for a candy apple, fudge or taffy. The store Deep Blue is a great place to pick up a new pair of Sanuks, Tevas or Reefs. The fun house is really trippy if you go in after a day of drinking, and Frog Bog will always be my favorite game on Pt. Pleasant Boardwalk. The beach itself is clean enough, but always gets packed around Jenks and the Tiki Bar. Keep walking if you actually want some space. read more

This beach used to be great till this year. After 5pm, each entrance to the beach is guarded by at least one rude looking policeman. I though I was walking into an airport! I mean, this gotta be the only beach in the world where each access way to the beach is guarded by at least one policeman! Turned out they close the beach after 5pm _but_ if you are already purchased the beach badge before 5pm, you could stay on the beach. Numerous people _offered_ to buy the badge just for having a walk along after 5pm, but the policeman shown off their gun on the belt to tell people to go away. Nuff said, many people drove hours to get there, paid $$$ for parking, only to be told the beach is off limit. New fences were erected along the boardwalk, with metal gate locked up at the normal entrance. In other words, you cannot get to the beach no matter what, if you arrive after 5pm. Our family, like many others, were extremely upset. We decided to burn our E-musement credits at the rides, such that we would never come back again. It ain't difficult. This year, Jenkinsons raised the ride's required points. We burned our $160 worth of credit within 80 minutes. The good side? The crowd level is significantly lower than the past 12 summers we went! Guess why? We will never go back again ever. P.S. Many new signs were erected all over the amusement rides area, telling people that, if they want to sue the park due to ride injuries, you must report the complete incident details to their Guess Relations within 90 days in order for the "evidence" to be attachable to your lawsuit. You tell me if that makes any sense at all! P.S.2 I know something's wrong already. GSParkway Exit ??? used to be Belmar/I-195/Point Pleasant Beach. This summer, they renamed it to 'Belmar/I-195/Trenton'. If you just follow the signs, you'd need to drive much further south to hit the official Point Pleasant exit, then navigate a few turns and longer local roads to get to the beach area. Why would anybody do that? read more

The staff treated me very poorly and not fair like others on the beach. I tried to bring a cooler on the beach which the staff told me was a little too big. I get to the beach and see several coolers exactly like mine. I went back to the desk to purchase a umbrella rental and I witnessed a guy being let in the entrance with a cooler bigger than mine. I voiced my concern to the staff and said I was going to get my cooler from the car. They didn't even look at me or say anything. They turned their heads. I came back with my cooler and they called the manager. The manager walked to the beach with me and I showed her all the coolers. She said someone was going to go around and tell them to remove their cooler. It never happened. As I'm sitting on the beach more people are walking in with bigger coolers. Point Pleasant and their staff can suck it. I'm very disappointed and will not return. I paid $40 for parking and my entrance fee. I'm not happy at all. Everyone should be treated equally! read more

I went today with family and couple of families of my friend. We went at 4:45 and requested for tickets. The guy is almost closing and refused to sell ticket/tokens to entered into the beach. I called to the cops and this incident as we are 14 folks and 5 kids and travelled all the from Jersey city. Almost 5 cops came there and spoke to the ticket vendor. They replied that, this is a private beach and all rights reserved for them. They can delay on any one them by their own opinion. Very much unhappy with and not recommended. Met a couple of friends at the Tiki Bar two weeks ago, the Sunday before Memorial Day. We met early morning, so the parking lot was empty. But, what shocked me was the price of parking...$3.00 per hour! No max price for the day! So, by the end of the day, I probably dumped $20+ in the meter! The Tiki Bar had 105.7 The River broadcasting live with Williams Honor as their guests. It was set up really nice, with coffee, orange juice, and an assortment of bagels and donuts! All FREE! At approximately 11am, you could order a drink..which was $12! We passed on the drinks! Then, we decided to hit the beach! The cost was $9.00 per adult, even before the Memorial Day weekend! The beach was beautiful and clean, and getting together with some old friends, i guess it was worth the 9 bucks! In the past years, I usually went further down the boardwalk, Risden Beach, because it was quieter. I also love Lavallette and Ortley beach, but Pt. Pleasant has that small town charm! But, the main reason I wanted to comment about my experience in Pt. Pleasant was to let someone know about the deplorable conditions of the bathroom facilities! The ladies room by the police station was absolutely disgusting! Out of 8 stalls, 3 were marked "Out of Order", 2 where clogged, which left 3 working! Filthy floors! I understand these restrooms get very dirty from all the beach traffic, but this was early in the day and the week before the big crowds! It was NASTY! Maybe with ALL the money Pt. Plesant Boro is collecting from the new parking meters and the beach passes, they could hire someone to clean these restrooms! There is no reason why, with all the money the tourist AND locals spend to visit Point Pleasant Beach, that there can't be cleaner bathroom facilities!! I will also be contacting the Chamber of Commerce, maybe even the Asbury Park Press! read more

We did rides and was going to go on the beach until we saw the price to walk on. Walking back to the car I saw I had a 48 dollar ticket on the windshield for improper display of paid parking receipt. The receipt was on the driver side dash and we still had 30 mins left when the ticket was issued. This is the 2nd and last time I will be issued a parking ticket. I had same issue 2 years ago and had it taken care of. I have no fight left in me, I am going to pay the 48 bucks and go to seaside park from now on. Easier to park and way cheaper. For that past 6 years I have lived in Point Pleasant Boro , a 6 min drive from Point Pleasant Beach. As local, I have to say point is the best family oriented beach, in comparison to Seaside Heights Boardwalk. Point PL Beach Boardwalk is cleaner and children focused. BUT YES as a LOCAL the PRICE GOUGING is CRAZY!!! I have two children and with the beach access price, parking, and OMG if they want ice cream--WE ARE BROKE before 1. I don't not think it is fair that even though you are a resident, you still have to pay out of towner prices. I know the town needs to make money, but at least charge the locals 1/2 price for access to the beach, I mean really we do pay taxes and reside in Point all year long. read more

What's going on Point Pleasant? A beach I once enjoyed and loved to come to with my family, went for a turn for the worse. Overly crowded, no parking. Expect to drive around for more then 30 mins to find a free spot or pay ridiculous amount of money for parking that you may not ever get. Waves were extremely rough, and the crowd is even rough now too. Bathroom lines were ridiculous. I did not enjoy myself. Sure the sand is clean, the fast food by the Tiki bar is good, & the the fun rides for the kids... but sad to say I don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon unless it's off season. read more

Privately owned Point Pleasant beach will cost you more $ than the Ritz Carlton hotel. Parking is impossible (ticket agents aplenty) and the lot cost ($20+) more than your last paycheck. Around $10 per person for the beach and the boardwalk food is expensive, crowded, and gross. A couple of bars in the boardwalk that are unfriendly and overpriced. Point is more of a tourist trap than a relaxing day at the shore. read more

Parking is ridiculous. There auto pay kiosks are impossible to use in the dark and are marked m-f till 5:59 which apparently is incorrect. The only way to appeal is through court. Just a perfect example of another greedy Jersey Shore town. Thanks for the $50 dollar ticket PPB. Why dont you own up and clearly mark your parking Kiosks, and put decent lighting on them. read more

Meter parking = $7 for 3 hours, beach = $8 per person, lunch was expensive = $30 for 2 people to eat. Waves were extremely rough and the sand was uphill. We stayed at the edge not willing to go in more than at the knees. We packed up around 7pm and headed to the showers at the boardwalk.. yeah so they shut all water off at 5pm. We had to drive home with the sand stuck all over everything. Will I ever go to this beach again? NO! read more
