A wonderful stop in Palos Verdes to intake some history. Small museum with interesting artifacts and displays. They do ask for donations so you can drop it in the box at your own discretion. Not mandatory though. Spent about 20 minutes learning educating myself about things I've never known before about Palos Verdes. Really cool intriguing facts. Love their little gift shop inside offering souvenirs, tshirts, jewelry, toys, and much more. My friend and I got cute sentimental bracelets for like $3.99 each. I also couldn't pass up on crystal Honu (turtle) earrings for $8.99. Amazing prices! If we had stay any longer, I would have bought the whole store. They really had good merchandise. Afterwards, we enjoyed putting our steps in around the trail which takes you to a lighthouse. Very calm and peaceful along the way while you soak in the immaculate views of ocean. Soothing to your ears as you listen to crashing waves. There were benches where you can sit down to enjoy a picnic or to just relax. Highly recommended for those who love nature or just want to get away stressed free.

A great spot for a relaxed day out! There's plenty of parking, and the visitor center offers interesting exhibits about the local history, wildlife, and the famous Pacific gray whale migration. The gift shop has a nice range of items - even Christmas tree ornaments year-round, lol. The grounds are spacious and a perfect place for a picnic, with sweeping ocean views. The historic Point Vicente Lighthouse is nearby--while you can't go inside, the surrounding area is open for visitors and offers great photo ops (check ahead of time as it's a US Government property with restricted and limited access). Another cool feature is the restored whaling boat on display, one of the last remaining on the West Coast. It's fascinating to see and gives a unique glimpse into maritime history. If you're here between December and April, it's also a prime spot to catch sight of migrating whales, especially from the cliffs--definitely a bonus! A neat, scenic stop that's well worth a visit... 5 stars

I visited the historic Point Vicente Lighthouse, which is open to the public every second Saturday of the month from 10 AM to 3 PM (good to know for next time). The surrounding trails are excellent--well-maintained and offering breathtaking views. We also explored the nearby Interpretive Center, which features a variety of exhibits showcasing the area's rich history. One exhibit highlights the unstable soil and frequent landslides, a key reason why many trails, like those in the Portuguese Bend Reserve, remain closed to this day. The centerpiece of the museum is undoubtedly the rotating Fresnel lens from the historic Point Vicente Lighthouse, once one of the most photographed lighthouses in the world. A fascinating video documents how engineers painstakingly dismantled the lens piece by piece to transfer it to the center for public display. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. Admission is free, though donations are encouraged to support this educational and enriching resource for future visitors.

Sunset viewing on 7.25.24 in Rancho Palos Verdes, California... We were in the area and tried to go to the Point Vicente Lighthouse, but the gate was closed. We turned around quickly because the sun was setting already! The photos don't do the scenery justice. There were other people taking pictures, also. Some sat on the ground on picnic blankets while others sat on the steps of the Interpretive Center. A few stood up along the railing above the cliff... It's too bad the Center closes at 5pm. However, the clean, air-conditioned restrooms stay open! Thank you! I appreciated the free parking lot, too! The grounds are well-kept! Check out the whale sculpture and the decorated walkways! I would like to return and go inside the museum. My friend, Van D., was here a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it!

This interpretive center has a good number of exhibits about the history of this area, from prehistoric to modern day. It also has an exhibit about how the geology of the area is unstable and how landslides occur as a result..quite unfortunate given the events occurring right now. I spent about half an hour looking through everything and I learned a lot about the area! They have fossils on display, as well as many artifacts from the native peoples living there. They have information about the lighthouse (the lighthouse itself is only open on the second Saturday of each month) so it's a great way to learn if you can't make the lighthouse tour. It's an enjoyable way to spend some time indoors before exploring the grounds outside. The center is free, but donations are welcome and there is also a gift shop. Parking is free as well.

We stumbled upon the Point Vincente Interpretive Center going to the lighthouse nearby. They are located next to each other. I don't have enough to say about the lighthouse so I'll just review it together. The Point Vincente Interpretive Cener has a free small museum that preserves the natural and cultural history of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. I especially enjoyed seeing the whale's jaw bones that was 3 times my size. It was magnificent standing next to it. I imagine it would be even more exciting for a child to visit. I had a fun time. Outside the center there are public bathrooms, a walking/hiking trail, and a public park where families came to hang out and picnic. The views are stunning It was a short walk over to the Point Vincente lighthouse. The lighthouse is blocked off from quite a distance, so you won't be able to take a close look, but it was nice to see. Really neat spot to visit if you enjoy museums and beach views.

I've been here many times, but it had been since before Covid that I had been back. This place is small but 100% worth the visit. The views from here are phenomenal and cannot be beat. You can watch grey whale migration during the on season. The center itself is small, but informative. The grounds are open for picnics, short hikes/walks, and just enjoying the cliffside views. Overall a great place to visit and hang out for a while.

This is a very photogenic area with a small free whale museum. It's pretty small and you could see most of it in like 10 minutes but hey it's free. Parking is free with two small lots so you may have to wait a bit for a spot. The main attraction for me was the overlook of the ocean.

We took a walk/hike there from the Terranea Resort. Mr. Ishibashi gave my friend & I a very pleasant and educational guided tour of the Center (inside & outside), along w/ information about the surrounding PV area, too ! Lots to see & learn, with children around on a bit of a scavenger hunt, themselves!

While finishing our hike at the Point Vicente Bluffs trail, we came across this place and was so glad it was open as it was closed during the Pandemic the last time we were here. It's free and does a good job explaining the history of the local area and I had no idea about the whaling industry and how that came about so I really appreciate coming here and learning more about that and whales in general. Highly recommend it if you are in the area!

Located off Palos Verdes Dr W in Rancho Palos Verdes. There are two areas that have parking. The center closes at 5pm so we couldn't go inside to look be mainly came to catch the sunset which has a great view of it it's also right by the Point Vicente Light House. They also have rest rooms here as well. Overall a great spot to catch the sunset and chill.

A wonderful place to spend a day at to u wind and enjoy the beautiful surrounding. This bloom season is more beautiful here. Flowers all around making the best scenery. Love taking a walk here and enjoying the views. The lighthouse was built in 1926 and looks like the area is going through renovation . The view here is just gorgeous. You can see whales during the season which I believe is December to May. There are picnic tables, large grass area and a small museum. Sunsets are beautiful here. Stop by and check it out when in the area.

The secret of your future is hidden in your daily adventure. Let's begin this new fun adventure. Point Vicente Interpretive Center (est. 1984) is a beautiful park, located adjacent to the Point Vicente Lighthouse, offers recreational and educational opportunities to the public. The park grounds have fresh lush green grass, trees and impeccable ocean view. Furthermore, it has many amenities such as benches, picnic tables, gift shop, museum, restrooms, whale watching and a seascape trail which leads to Vicente Buff Reserve. Similarly, this park is heaven picnic and for wedding photography. The park has plenty of parking and is free. Overall, I enjoyed my time exploring the park. And I highly recommend you visit.
