One thing I do like about small towns is the great comfort food available…read more Parking is available along Park. Those who are observant will also notice that the other side of the parking lot was the location of the first air mail flight in Manitoba (1927). Look for the stone mini-monument. The inside looks like most other small-town pubs, with the dated wood paneling. The bar itself is on a raised area at the back. There is a dance floor as well, but it seemed like nobody used it. There is an actual mini-liquor store in the very back, around the back of the bar counter. Good to know as the local MLCC (government liquor store) closes early most days. The other thing to mention is that this hotel also has a Chinese restaurant, accessed through a side door next to the bar counter. See my review of Lake View Restaurant. On Fridays and Saturdays, there is a steak night. Seriously, you have to hit this up. I had the 16oz T-bone. This dish comes with onion rings and coleslaw by default. You can pick between wedges and fries (I chose wedges). The steak is one of the better ones in recent memory. No gristle or tendons, and a very decent cut. Served with sauteed mushrooms on top. The bun was meh, and the onion rings and potato wedges were also nothing special. I enjoyed the coleslaw though. Really liked how they didn't drown the thing in dressing. 4 stars for the steak, and 3.5 stars after factoring in the sides.

In the wonderful town of Lac du Bonnet, this is pretty much the only place to buy take-home liquor…read morein a 20km radius. They have the market cornered. Parking is available in front. The inside is somewhat well stocked. Pretty much everything I was looking for was available. Staff were quite friendly, though surprisingly they didn't all know where the "Manitoba liquor" was located. My one biggest gripe is that the place closes early (around 1800) every night except for Friday. Makes it almost impossible to get stuff if you work outside the surrounding area.

Horrible store!!!!!! I am 31, I honestly told the female clerk that I had drank a few drinks…read morebefore I went there to buy a bottle of liquor. I admit I had about 4 beers before I went in but was not slurring and sound of mind. The woman at the register then said she can not sell me alcohol because my eyes were a little red (by the way I have very bad seasonal allergies and ten minutes outside in certain areas causes my eyes to water and become red). When I questioned why, she stopped talking and ignored me all together but my payment already went through. I then had to sit there and be embarrassed and refused service while I was refunded. If there is a policy that somehow makes this woman's behaviour acceptable, I recommend the store take a serious look at their policies and or hiring practices. Manitoba liquor commission should hire people who do not make judgements based on the way someone looks and just do their jobs. Regardless of what judgements you make about me I believe service should be the same for everyone!! I felt that I was mistreated and pre judged and I do not believe I was treated in a fair and just manner!! By the way this happened ten minutes ago so if you believe the clerk, I find it odd that I can articulate my thoughts in a clear and concise manner but I am somehow deemed unacceptable enough to legally buy alcohol!! I am pissed off and I will buy my liquor in the city before heading out to the cabin from now on!!!

They over a variety of ciders, cocktails and beers from Lake of the Woods brewing. Note: Main entrees aren't available until after 4pm, but you can order from a plethora of appetizers, sandwiches and bowls for lunch. You can also dock your boat in the back if you're out on the lake and want to stop by for a quick lunch. Pickerel Cheeks: Think of dipping butter crostini's in Alfredo sauce. The pickerel cheeks were super creamy, chewy and rich. One bite was enough to satisfy me. Three Cheese Baked Artichoke Lobster Dip: This was a fantastic dip with naan and tortilla chips. The cheese, artichoke, and lobster worked well with each other. PLUS the naan was super soft. Portabella Mushroom Burger: The flavors in this burger are amazing! There is enough guac and mushroom to fill you up! I highly recommend this burger Lobster Club House: There was alot of bread and a little lobster in this sandwich, so it was difficult to taste any flavor. Probably my least favorite dish here. Poutine: For $2 more, you can get a side of poutine. This side is massive and took up half of my plate! They use shredded cheese and tons of gravy. Overall, Boathouse has some great dishes and a good place for lunch right on the lake!
