Two family favorite lamps. One from the Ann Arbor art fair, 1995. The other an iron relic. Heard about him from a friend. Was in the Shores today & brought both lamps with me. Walked in 9:45 am, was warmly greeted and welcomed. I knew in an instant it was old school charm and class. Offers a handshake... "hi I'm Marty Meldrum" Looked at my sockets, assessed the trouble. 3-way $18 Single $15 I inquire how many days? Would you like a deposit? Niether if you've got 10-12 minutes, I'll get done now. ( I told him I was from Utica) Or he's that good? Sat in my car as not to hover. Less than 11 minutes later he comes outside waves me in. Showed me the finished repairs. Suggested some high quality, low heat plastic bulbs. ( yes plastic bulbs well I'll be!) I asked how long has this place been around? M&M 75 years shortly! Large assortment of Lamps Shades Pull chains Shade knobs & decorations. Plus a handshake, fair price and a smile. Old School Service for the win. I truly thought I was in a 1960's Era. I bought a Tiffany Style Lampshade for my mother for christmas. I asked the owner if for any reason if my mother did not like it would we be able to return or exchange. He said absolutely no problem. When we ended up back in the store because of the color, they had a very limited selection of tiffany lampshades and therefore we had to return it. This is when he decided to tell me that he would be charging me a 20% fee for the return OR I could get an in store credit for the full amount. No where in the store was there a return/exchange policy posted, nor was it on the back of the receipt, and he had plenty of opportunities (when I asked him directly) if there would be any issues to let me know said policy. I told him this, and then he asked me if 10% would be okay, of course I said No it would not, but payed it anyways, because I didn't have the time at the moment to argue and NEEDED the money back in my account. THEN it took 5 full business days for the $225 to go back into my checking account. I prefer to go to smaller business owners over Home Depots or Lowes, even if the product may cost a little more, but when you are treated in such a manner, why would I? read more

Very personal service here and for a small shop they have everything. Was looking for a shade and couldn't bring the lamp in, was easily and happily allowed to take as many shades as I wanted TO the lamp, and just return those I didn't want. Made the task SO easy! I have both purchased light fixtures from him and have taken many light fixtures there to be cleaned and serviced. He's always been most helpful and has great advice. The owner is totally customer care oriented. I highly recommend this business. I have bought 5 different styled lamps (including a Tiffany) there over a period of 4 years. He also sells USA made lightbulbs and I buy what I need from him. He has repaired 2 of my old lamps I brought in from home without incident and a good price. I bought finials for them too and he has a good selection (I bought the pelican finials). He has an excellent selection of lamp shades and tried several on one of my lamps in the store. I still wasn't sure which lamp shade I wanted, so he let me take home the shades with my lamp and make my decision. As stated above, I highly recommend this business.
