This place was okay. It was actually pretty expensive for what it was (around $14 for a small compared to $10 at other places). When you ask for "salad", you don't get spring mix. You literally get a garden salad, like chopped iceberg lettuce. It was very confusing. The boba is pretty mediocre. If I needed boba and couldn't go anywhere else, I might order it here again, maybe. Overall, the fish was okay and the sauce was good. The veggies were fresh and they have a nice selection of add-ons for your bowl. Wanted to try a new poke place and decide to give Poke Kai a try. I would say it's okay, if you're craving poke then it'd satisfy that, but in terms of quality and taste then I prefer other poke places (e.g., Poke Bar). We got a large, which comes with 5 proteins, which is a lot, I will say every bite had fish in it so that was a plus. They have a lot of toppings, which we added most of them and got the spicy wasabi sauce and ponzu sauce. we got the "hawaiian" version of the fish which is supposed to have sauce on it as well, but it still tasted like it could've used more sauce on it. For the base we got salad, most places use the spring mix but this one came with iceberg lettuce and spinach, which was interesting. The food was okay honestly, it was good and I would go again if I was in the area, but honestly the spam masubi was one of the worst masubis I've had. For $3.25 that was ridiculously overpriced. This is one of few build your own poke places that offers Hawaiian style poke, which is rather difficult to find these days. Hawaiian style poke is usually marinated with onions, sesame oil, and soy sauce. This place offers tuna, salmon, albacore, and squid in Hawaiian style. Bowls come in regular (3 scoops of protein) and large (5 scoops of protein). Base options are white rice, brown rice, salad, chip, or half and half. Protein choices are tuna, spicy tuna, salmon, shrimp, scallop, tofu, and the 4 Hawaiian style options mentioned above. Sauce choices are spicy mayo, spicy wasabi mayo, eel sauce, spicy eel sauce, ponzu, spicy ponzu, and Kai Special Sauce. Topping choices are avocado, seaweed salad, crabmeat, massage, cucumber, jalapeño., green onion, regular onion, wasabi, sesame seeds, furikake, bean sprouts, cilantro, edamame, carrots, pineapple, lemon, ginger, Hot Cheetos, dried pepper, crispy onion, dried garlic, and Shichimi (Japanese seasoning). All toppings are included but charges $1 for extra scoop on avocado, seaweed salad, and crabmeat. I got a regular bowl with two scoops of Hawaiian Salmon and one scoop of Hawaiian Tuna with Kai Special Sauce. Everything was fresh and tasted fine but I couldn't really taste the sauce that well. Somehow my bill came out to be $17 when I don't think I ever paid more than $12 for poke anywhere else. I don't believe the lady explained the pricing well enough for me to understand how much are extra toppings (which I don't feel like I got much). I do feel bad though because it looked like it was her first job/was very inexperienced with customer service skills. She was also very slow. Anyways, the fish didn't look fresh either but I was hungry and decided to check out this nearby poke place. I come here once a week because it's close to my weekend appointments. Food is good, there are limited toppings, but I usually enjoy my meal. However, there are a couple of things really bother me. First - the portioning of the toppings and sauces is really inconsistent. It really depends on who the worker is. Second - and this is the one that REALLY bugs me - they NEVER have the brown rice ready and available when the store opens for service. I always prefer brown rice over white rice. I used to come in right when they opened only to be told brown rice wouldn't be ready for 20-30 mins. So I started waiting until 30 mins after they open ... just to be told the exact same thing! Ugh. Wanted to try this location and every time iI have come by this place it's dead m. So I was going to get a large poke bowl and asked for mixed greens. The server starts putting in spinach and I said I wanted mix greens he said that is what we use is spinach. She nice you can't give me what I want I said forget it and from some of the other reviews this would have been very expensive for small portions. Came in hoping to have some wonderful food and a great experience based on the majority of reviews. Proceeded to stand in line for almost 10 minutes before my daughter let me know she needed to use the restroom. As she stood there shaking, we were told she would not be allowed to use the bathroom and she could leave and go down the street. My daughter is under the age of 10. There was no signage posted anywhere stating restrooms were not available, only signage asking about our experience. I was shocked at the lack of emotion in watching a child struggle and telling them to leave and go somewhere else. Even more surprised to be treated this way as a paying customer. Food was 5/10. This is a great Poke bowl spot near me, nestled in this little plaza across from Wells Fargo. The Hawaiian style meats is what I usually get along with the Kai Special sauce which has a little kick to it. I get the large bowl because for $2 more you're getting 2 extra servings of protein. Go all salad if you're trying to avoid carbs. The line is kinda backwards when you get in, they should really separate the step number and amount of stuff you get, or make it more clear. They also serve Boba Tea and Slush drinks here which is great because there aren't many options for boba close by. read more

I keep seeing all these reviews saying good portions but that was not the case. Barely any protein, made up less than a 1/5 of the bowl. And the bowl was smaller than what you will find at most poke places. Went here for a quick lunch and I'm still hungry afterwards. Was recommended to come here from a friend recently and finally came here last night. From the moment I walked in to leaving, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The store itself is also very clean and modern looking... very inviting. I ordered a large bowl to share with someone else and it worked out perfectly. The total was about $12.50 for it and I got 5 different scoops of fish/meat and endless toppings as well as sauces. My mom REALLY enjoyed it and I think she'll be coming soon to buy for herself. To be fair, i don't think I'd buy a small bowl to eat for myself as I find the price to be a little steep, but would definitely purchase a large bowl and then share with another person. So far, my favorite poke place in LB. There are other places that serve good poke, but the ability to add toppings, sauces, etc. sets Poke Kai a step above the others. I had the Ahi, salmon, and squid poke in a bowl with rice, salad, cilantro, avocado, edamame, seaweed, ginger, toasted garlic and onions, all covered with a wasabi mayo. Altogether, it was a very flavorful and fresh bowl of poke. Given all the ingredients, it's neither cheap nor expensive at about $10 for a regular sized bowl. I think the price is about right given the range of toppings that you can add on. The other great thing is that it is not too far from my office! read more

I've been coming here for a long time but had the worst experience today. I asked for extra avocado and it was the edge slice of a new piece so it was a time amount extra. When I pointed out them at I was given two edge slices I was told "that's just the way it is. Then I was charged 1.50 instead of the extra dollar it used to be without being told. I didn't tip. Bosses you need to give your employees the ability to give the actual amount of extra that the customer is paying for without being afraid of getting in trouble. read more

I'm solely basing this review on the one drink I got today. I ordered a Taro Milk tea with boba. The boba is delicious. Almost tastes like honey boba- super sweets and great texture. The actually "tea", however, was absolutely no good. She didn't add enough powder for there to actually be flavor. It was watered down, and basically cloudy water. The worst part is, I believe the young girl who made it did it completely out of spite. You could easily tell she was irritated by my sister and I asking questions, as this was our first time. Came here before, and I was honestly less than enthused. The fish was stringy, the sauces had no flavor and they were very skimpy on how much sauce they'd give you. BUT...I decided to try it again and was pleasantly surprised! This time the fish was perfect and flavorful, the sauces were really tasty and they gave really nice portions and plenty of sauce and toppings. Glad I didn't make a previous review. The poke was ok. Though the salmon did have a funny taste that was off putting. I couldn't finish the bowl due to that unusual taste that made the poke not seem so fresh. It left my brother with uneasiness in his stomach a few hours later. I didn't finish my bowl because the more I ate less enjoyable the flavor became. Maybe I came on a bad day. Build Your Own Poke Bowl. This place is pretty awesome, like Subway/Chipotle but for Poke. They have a couple options for your base which is white rice, brown rice, or salad (You can even do half & half. They have several options of fish, you can pick all of the same or 3 different ones (More with the larger bowl). Then you get to chose your toppings, which they have several to chose from and too many for me to name. Overall everything is clean, fresh & delicious. Good portion here and it was around $9 something (slightly pricey). If you don't know how something taste like, feel free to ask to try a sample.
