I will start off by saying that I really liked this food. The fish tasted amazing and I loved all the toppings. However, the rice was a bit overcooked and considering it was $20 for a regular size, it was disappointing. I think if the price was lower, I would have rated it a 5/5. It's good, just not worth $20.

The Poké is so fresh and tastes absolutely amazing. I definitely recommend this place if you want the best poke in SB. It's a little on the pricey side but you get EXACTLY what you pay for. 10/10 5 Stars amazing Service is also very great, the Owner is so sweet and the atmosphere is calming to eat at!

This is my favorite poke place ever! I visit all the time and am always happy with the great portion sizes and the delicious fish options. I got to know the staff there and they're all absolute angels who are always happy to help. The location and ambiance is perfect and there are places to sit and wait for a bit as you get ready for the perfect bowl. Though it is pricy, it's worth it - they're super big and you can easily get lunch and dinner out of one bowl! Love this place a lot!

(Overall: 84% | B) - I found the service to be very nice in that the staff there are very friendly and helpful; the atmosphere is also clean and peaceful. The food is acceptable, with room for improvement. (Large Poke Bowl: 85% | B) - This bowl runs for about $20 and is quite filling as I can fit two reasonably sized meals in. I like the variety of toppings, as well as the fact that there is a good amount of items to add freshness now. The fish is decently fresh, but I found the spicy tuna to not be spicy. In fact, I added a lot of sauce to my bowl, yet somehow found it to be a bit bland overall which was shocking. (Passionfruit Tea: 77.5% | C) - Unfortunately, this tea does not taste good when mixed with lemonade. I the lemonade works better with the other drinks that add a better balance in flavor. Here, since the lemonade is light, it is unable to balance the tea's natural strongness.

The (I'm assuming) owners were awesome. I love spicy and they let me taste a few. Although, I can handle spice and nothing was that spicy lol. They give a healthy dose of food, the quality was great. I was visiting from out of town and was skeptical on poke on a college campus but it was great. The place is a small cozy restaurant. You're not going anywhere fancy! If you're in a rush, go online for a quick pick up. Because the crafting is a process. They take their time to make it perfect. Will be back!

Soo I would give this place higher rating but I did not like their spicy mayo. It's more just mayo... not spicy whatsoever and I am someone who can barely handle spicy things. They did put a lot of crab salad on mine if you are a fan of that, personally it's a little too much for me. Again I didn't really enjoy the bowl at all, I am probably not even going to finish it :/ the spicy mayo kinda grosses me out with the full taste of mayo. They do have a great customer service and very friendly. I can't give it anything more than a 3 because the taste just is not quite there for me. *update I couldn't finish the bowl it's that spicy mayo that just tastes awful and I'm not trying to exaggerate either

Best poke in IV. I do have a bone to pick with the way Poke Theory is run. Dining here feels more like a stressful cafeteria... I wish it matched the chiller vibe of Isla Vista. When you walk in, you have to write your order on a tiny paper using a pencil that has a plastic spoon attached to it. I then sit down and notice that directions for EVERYTHING are printed laminated and taped on the wall (like "write order here with sanitized pencils", and "throw away trash here"). But in all fairness, I'm still rewarding four stars because, again, the poke itself is good. Just thought I could provide some constructive feedback to make it a more enjoyable dining experience for customers.

Great for fast takeout! This restaurant is located in the heart of IV. Parking on the street nearby can be tough but if you live close, it's a nice walk. Poke Theory is a somewhat small restaurant with simple yet modern decor. There was no outdoor seating. Indoor dining was closed due to Covid-19. I called in my order for 2 custom regular size bowls and was told it would be ready in 5-10 minutes. When I arrived, I was glad to see that good Covid-19 safety measures were in place. Pick up was easy and my food was nicely packaged up and ready to go. Portion size was good and the food was tasty. As a vegetarian, I chose both the tofu and soy shreds for my protein. Next time I visit, I'll opt for just tofu. For the other bowl, an opt out of scallops next time was noted. Pricing was standard for a poke bowl place. Customer service was outstanding. The female who assisted over the phone and in person was super sweet and helpful. I would visit again.

The food was really good and the portions were generous. Everything tasted fresh and seasoning well done. The service was great also, the staff was very helpful as we were here for the first time. They made us feel very comfortable. Will come back next time we are here

First time trying poke again in years because I don't like raw fish, and it was delicious! You can get up to 10 sides which is really filling. There wasn't as much fish as I expected, but there was a huge scoop of imitation crab which was delicious. Would come back again and also try other poke places, which is really saying something!

Unfortunately, my order got messed up (I'm vegan), and there was the masago (fish egg) added, but I called them, and they gave me a full refund! Great customer service in general. They're very friendly. As for the food I got to try, I was amazed by the appearance of the soy beef (I mean, look at it! Looks so real). As for the taste of the soy beef & shreds (chicken), I would suggest for them to dry them out and perhaps marinate them because the texture was really spongy, but it lacked any sense of flavor. Not mention, everything that was in my food was SUPER fresh... the veggies, radish, rice, beets, jalapeño, cucumber, literally EVERY thing. I just wish the vegan meats had more flavor. This was a regular $13.95 bowl, and the portion was great. It's perfect for sharing with another person! I also highly recommend the sweet shoyu sauce as well.

Incredibly bland. The fish is cut so small (see picture) as well it is almost impossible to get any flavor when you eat it along with any toppings in the bowl or even alone. Not worth the high price point imo

For IV, this place is pretty good!! The have larger bowls than PokeCeviche for the same price (although it is filled with a lot of rice) as well as a variety of noodle soup options, making this a pretty good place to eat! They also have a large size for poke bowls if you'd like. Their customer service was super nice and they gave a good portion of food too. The fish was tasty and they had a large variety of really tasty toppings and sauces, however, my only complaint was that the sauces weren't salty enough. My bowl was kind of bland so I needed a lot of soy sauce to add taste, but I really liked the flavor of their sauces!! The rose lychee was also a very unique addition to the menu! Although it tastes just like pure syrup, it was really pretty (and free with a check in)! I prefer PokeCeviche's lychee slushy because the ice dilutes the syrup a bit more. I also had a sip of the galaxy lemonade, but I didn't enjoy it because it just tasted like a sugary Minute Maid lemonade. I probably would not spend money on their drinks but I'd definitely come back for their bowls, and to try more of their sauces!!

I've gotten poke here three times now and all times have been wonderful. Two were on doordash and everything was delivered perfectly, but I was really impressed with the one time I ordered in store. This place takes COVID seriously, and I really appreciate them for that. They have a fill out menu outside where you can circle/write what you want to order and you then hand that piece of paper to the workers inside. The entrance is blocked off to limit, hence protect, both the workers and customers. What's even more impressive is that as I was waiting for my food outside, one of the workers came and sanitized EVERYTHING- the clipboard I used, the table, door handles, AND EVEN THE PEN I used! Not only that, they're probably the best poke place in all of Goleta as they have fresh quality fish you can taste and unique sauces. My favorites are the Miso Cilantro and Green Aioli. ique sauces and fresh quality fish you can taste. Additionally, the lychee rosewater drink is sosososo good! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! a little expensive since it is seafood but AMAZING!! WAY BETTER than poke ceviche! You get to pick up to 10 toppings and can pick up to 4 sauces, and have 5 different fish for a large. This is a really good deal! Only a couple dollars more and you get a great deal! This is my all time favorite place to eat and the employees are so sweet. They don't complain and they are there to do their job and give 100% customer satisfaction. I came at closing and I could tell they were stressed with all the customers that were in line but they were not complaining. They did their job thoroughly well and still make the food taste delicious. Every sauce I got on side was labeled and presentation for the poke bowl was perfect! read more

I got food poisoning from yellowtail from here. I knew the color was off (grey ish) so i should've just not eaten it. Salmon was fine but I know it was the yellowtail. I'm really traumatized from this experience. read more

From the main street, you wouldn't be able to tell that there is a restaurant down this small street, but I was pleased to find this cute poke spot by chance! Great fresh ingredients! A little pricy but hey, it's IV. The only thing that would make this place my #1 is having Eel Sauce!!! Sadly they do not carry it... but if they did, I'd be coming there way more often. I decided to go here because my friends told me about it and said really good things about it and they were right this place is FANTASTIC. The staff was really nice and professional. I got a large bowl with Seared abacore, white rice, and many other things. The fish was so fresh it seemed like they just caught the fish! The rice was freshly made, and the vegetables are very fresh and good. Along with my food I decided to get the galaxy lemonade and it was so tasty and looked cool especially because they had good edible glitter! read more

Hands down the best poke place in IV! The portions fill you up, the fish tastes super fresh, the toppings are generous, and the sauces are great! My personal favorites are the orange garlic (OG), the green aioli, and the sweet shoyu. I like how they let you sample as many sauces as you want before picking, and you can also mix sauces together! I personally like mixing the OG and sweet shoyu. Using the Yelp check-in offer, I was able to try their galaxy lemonade and lychee rose drink for free! The galaxy lemonade was kind of bland tbh but the lychee rose was delicious! The rose water wasn't overpowering at all and it was the perfect level of sweetness. It reminded me of the juice that's in the lychee jelly cups, so I definitely recommend! In addition to the great food, the service here has been exceptional every time I've went. The staff are patient and always willing to give samples of stuff and suggestions if you need them! I haven't tried other stuff on their menu yet but if you're craving poke this is a solid choice! read more

I was gonna excited to try a new poke place after reading the recent reviews on Poke Theory but I left a little disappointed. The service was good and prompt but I felt my poke bowl was a little lackluster compared to what you can get from nearby competitors when it comes to flavor and fish quality. I was a little put off by the imitation crab that came in my bowl, and opted not to eat it. The actual portion they give you for the price is not bad but as others said, seasoning overall could be touched upon. Overall I feel that Poke Theory earns 3/5 stars but could very easily push itself to a 4. It's possible I've caught them on a bad day so I'll likely give them another shot in the future. read more

This place is great! I've been here a couple times now and the couple working there are always nice and professional. As a vegan it was INCREDIBLY EASY to eat here; there are a ton of vegan options including a vegan beef and chicken shred which not only are tasty but very filling too. 10/10! read more

It has been about a month of us not eating here (we got busy). Unfortunately it doesn't seem Yabee and Johnny are working anymore which is a huge bummer. He came home with a said "large" poke bowl that he paid $35 for. For the base he asked for light mixed greens, and for the protein and toppings he asked for salmon, tuna and imitation crab. When he came home, I immediately noticed there was a SIGNIFICANT decrease in the fish portioning, especially for the "large bowl". The only reason the bowl was filled, was because it was mostly lettuce. I kid you not when I say our bowl was filled with about 90% lettuce and greens and about 10% actual fish and toppings. We have NEVER experienced this before and for the price we paid, I would expect anyone to be treated to MUCH better portions of fish. The bowl didn't even remotely fill either of us up and we were both left just as hungry as before. I wish I had taken a photo of what it looked like when we were done, as the bowl was STILL filled to the brim with lettuce. I'm not sure if we were just personally jipped this time but I sincerely hope this isn't the new way this place will be handling their business. I am pretty bummed about this.

And although restaurants need to make adjustments, those dining out, do also and want to get the value for their money spent. The service was nice and we have dinned at Nikka's for years. But the portions in food has gone way down. We ordered the fish n chips and the fish now looks like small fish sticks, the fries are such a small portions and the cole slaw is now in a sauce size container for what you get for a $20 meal. Now let's compare that with another local restaurant that has slightly raised their prices, but the quality and quantity has remained plus you get a view and great service (see pictures). Although, we try and support our small businesses, some restaurants have to consider what keeps the customers coming back where times may be challenging for them as well.

On top of that, the ingredients were distributed completely unevenly between the two halves. I literally had to take both halves apart and redistribute everything myself just to make it edible. Nothing about this felt fresh. I also swapped the "house-made chips" for tater tots -- which turned out to be the exact Ore-Ida frozen tots you buy at the grocery store, and even worse... they were undercooked and mushy. I am willing to bet I just paid $16 for about $2.50 worth of ingredients. For $16, this was not just underwhelming -- it was bad, REAL BAD. Do NOT order this sandwich.

My husband ate the whole bowl and wanted a second because was so good. Certified Angus Beef hot pot- 8/10 I ordered this with the tom yum broth. I didn't know it was a creamy version of the broth until it was served. I'm not mad about it but it wasn't in the description in case others are dairy sensitive. The broth was flavorful and really delicious. I will say that the beef was tough and it a typical cut that overcooked very quickly in the broth. I'm not positive it was Angus beef grade. I just now realized it was missing the lotus root but gave me zucchini instead. I was also missing my quail eggs. If I didn't read the description to know I was supposed to have them, I would've missed that too. Overall, the food was delicious but the service was 1 star for sure. We were never checked on and the waiter only appeared if we pushed the call button. If you can overlook the lack of customer service, the food is really delicious.

Best poke I have ever had in my life. This place is insane!!! I live in south Orange County where there is a poke place on every corner. I've had it all. I am in town visiting and decided to eat here for lunch based off the good reviews and I know I love poke bowls. Let me tell you, this was an ETHEREAL EXPERIENCE. So calm and quiet in there, perfect for takeout but seriously the best poke me or my bf have ever had. 10 stars give these guys an award or something. I recently visited Poke Theory and while I appreciated the aesthetic and friendly staff, I was disappointed with the portion size and protein offerings. The bowls were overpriced for the small portions and there wasn't enough protein given. Overall, the experience wasn't terrible, I just don't feel like the price point is justified by the quantity and quality of the food. read more
