Poke bowls have finally hit STL and I'm definitely a fan! Poke Doke is a new place in THE CWE, housed in one half of the former Cafe Oasis. They offer spicy tuna, salmon, spicy salmon, and a variety of toppings. You choose how many scoops you want, what type of rice or salad, and then you can choose from unlimited toppings like masago, crabmeat, avocado (which is extra as always), pickled ginger, etc. plus sauces and seasoinings. Fresh food, but the fish could be a little colder (it gets warmed up by the rice). Quick service and yummy ingredients. Lunch ranges from $9-$12 and it is a nice change from pizza/burgers/sandwiches. read more

I finally made it to Poke Doke! This place is the sushi equivalent of a Chipotle burrito bowl, but with 10x the choices of what goes in the bowl! I did a spicy tuna bowl and you bet I jam packed that bowl with all sorts of toppings- white sushi rice, cucumber, white onion, green onion, masago, that crab that you know is fake but is still so good, wasabi, & wasabi mayo! The spicy tuna was on point & everything tasted very fresh. And for just $10 for a "small" bowl (it was huge!), you get so much bang for your buck! I've visited a couple times since I've moved to STL, and each time I come in with high expectations/stereotypes about Poke places. Unfortunately, I've been disappointed each time, maybe I should lower my standards a bit...the service and wait times are higher than other poke places... and the bubble tea is severely lacking. LOVE this place!! We stopped in here to get some dinner to go. We each got a small poke bowl and it ended up being enough for each of us to have another meal out of. What a great value for all that you get! I had the tuna poke with nearly everything except jalapeños, crab meat and onion and what fantastic flavors! I didn't want to stop eating it was so delicious. I did make the mistake of ordering the guacamole and the flavor really didn't go with the rest of it. So I took it off and ate it separately at home with tortilla chips. April showers bring May flowers... and poke cravings! I've been back a couple of times since my previous review last fall, and I confess myself impressed by how much this joint has improved. Most important of all, there are now bigger portions of fish. They must have upped the size of their fish scoops, which no longer resemble teaspoons thank goodness. I ordered a Small poke bowl which comes with 2 scoops for $8 and was quite satisfied with the amount of protein in my meal, plus it left me full! On top of that, the raw salmon tasted fresh and was served cold. The toppings are still as plentiful as before, and same goes for the "drizzle," or sauce, that goes on top. Again, I love how you can add up to 10 free toppings to any size bowl. It's a great way to customize and add some dimension to your meal. Also - they have a matcha soft serve! It tastes more like frozen yogurt than ice cream but worth a try since it's such a rare find in this town. I'm glad this place was able to work out the kinks in its early days and get on track to dishing out some solid poke! read more

This place is a good spot if you're wanting to satisfy a poke bowl craving when in St. Louis, but overall it wasn't the most amazing thing I've experienced. Interior/Establishment - The space itself was a small, but decent place. Though there was a good amount of seating, there were a lot of little two-top tables, so it wouldn't be great if you had a group of people in there. Other than that, nothing to really note or complain about. Service - The staff members working there were very helpful in helping explain what the process was with ordering your food, what was what, and pricing. Everyone was very quick to making your food and was very friendly. Food - While the service was fast, the food just okay for me. One thing I will say I appreciated was that they didn't rip me off by filling up my bowl with mostly rice. There was a decent amount of fish and other toppings I wanted, and it was an overall good balance. What really went wrong for me, personally, was that my entire bowl was DOUSED in sauce. It was all I could taste, and it didn't help that the rice soaked it all up like a sponge. The value and quality just wasn't there for what I paid for. Had been wanting to try this place for a while based on the star rating and the pictures on Postmates. Can you guess which pic is mine and which is the one they advertise with? The bowl was so disappointing and didn't look a thing like what they advertise. Not to mention the price of the bowl for what I got. Portions where much smaller and the salmon had a strange taste to it. It was drenched in soy sauce so much so that I had to pour some out to make it edible. Green bubble tea tastes chalky. I have been a regular here since they have opened. I really love this place. If you are having a sushi or fish craving this place will surely fill the void. Although it is not a sushi roll, it will cover your cravings because you can eat all the contents of a roll but in a bowl! Amazzzing! I love everything about this place. They are not skimpy with their portions and allow for you select all of your own toppings and quantity of sauce. I personally recommend the salmon with brown rice and spicy sauce with eel sauce on the side. My belly is so happy every time I eat here. There is a tofu option if you are not into fish. I would give this a 3.5 stars if I could. Service was great, taste was good, but as a new restaurants, they still have a few important kinks to work out. I definitely intend on going back after they have adjusted to being newly opened. The process is easy and nice, similar to chipotle where you just pick your items and put it in a bowl. My bowl was a med, white rice, 2 scoops of salmon, 1 scoop of spicy tuna, cucumber, mango, massago, imitation crab salad, with spicy mayo and a little ponzu. The biggest issue my friends and I faced was that a lot of their toppings were out, so initially, it was a big bummer, BUT the workers were really apologetic and nice. The staff was really nice and tried to make up for it by being generous with other toppings. Later, they restocked on the seaweed and edamame and brought it out to our table and added it into our bowl, which was super nice and much appreciated. Next, the fish portion with the bowl size is way off. Between small, medium, and large, the only difference seems to be the amount of rice they give you. They give you 3 scoops of protein for a medium, but the scoops are so small, and they pick up maybe 2-3 chunks of fish. Even as you size up, the toppings/fish portion doesn't seem to change much. Taste wise, the toppings were fresh, and the fish was really fresh tasting for being in the midwest. Ultimately, like I said, I plan on coming back and will probably update my review. Minimal wait on a Thursday at 1pm. Everything looked fresh. Keep things simple and don't overload the bowl with sauce and you can taste each individual ingredient you add. Went here last night for dinner. Although parking was not ideal (it never is in the CWE), I did enjoy the food here. They give you 3 options, small, regular and large and then you get to customize it to your liking. I got the regular size, which includes 3 scoops of protein. I tried mine with white rice, 2 scoops of octopus and 1 scoop of spicy tuna, hot sauce (they have mild and medium too), onions, cucumbers, crab, seaweed salad, edamame, fried onions and radish and eel sauce on top. I will admit I was a little overwhelmed by the toppings and did not have any clue what would taste good on my bowl. I actually asked for help from the guy that was making my bowl and he was happy to help me out. My bowl turned out very good and flavorful. The octopus was delicious. I think the only change I would make it that I wish they had premade bowl ideas for people that do not know what they are doing or what flavor profile goes together. Very cool concept that STL was desperately needing. Very similar to how you would order at Chipotle/Qdoba - pick you rice, pick your protein and then pick your toppings/sauces. Order as many toppings as your heart (or stomach) desires! Comes in the 3 different sizing options. I go with the regular which includes 3 scoops of protein/fish of your choice. The cost of the regular is $12. It's the perfect takeout food option, but they have plenty of seating if you'd like to dine there. Great location in the CWE and a great choice for lunch or dinner. Update: went back ~2 weeks later and found that while they did finally give me an adequate amount of fish, they had also increased prices on the sizes by $2, presumably to make up for that. That's fine in my opinion and I was just happy to get more fish. I would recommend to others to order a small or medium bowl but pay the large price (so that you get 4 scoops of protein instead of 2 or 3). This makes your fish/sauce/topping to base ratio ideal in my opinion (vs having a looot of leftover plain rice). I also found that they had set out chopsticks by the forks which was great :) Upgrading my rating from 3 to 4 for the improvements. read more

The staff is very friendly. Located in central west end it's a fun environment to eat and play some board games with your friends. The space is similar to a subway set up and the staff are energized and friendly. The food is unique because of the combinations served as dishes. This would be a good go to place for fun. read more

I was hesitant to try this place given the recent unveiling of a similar restaurant that has really hit the fresh poke bowls and nachos thing out of the park. But, my friend said we should give this a chance and I am always up for something new, so off we went! I had extremely high expectations and PokeDoke exceeded them. At first, I felt some pressure to create my own poke bowl from scratch. However, given the large number of toppings allowed (and encouraged), my bowl was extremely unique and flavorful. They offer toppings such as seaweed salad and mango and boy is it good! They also have about 6 sauces to choose from and don't frown upon you choosing most of them. Poke restaurants should have fresh tasting fish, a good array of toppings, and a reasonable price. Poke Doke satisfies this on all fronts. There is an array of proteins available (though I would have liked to see more options, like hamachi), including: salmon, tuna, spicy tuna, octopus, shrimp, and tofu. Unfortunately, the tuna wasn't available today. The salmon and shrimp were both fresh tasting. The toppings included: radishes, edamame, seaweed salad, masago, fried onions, imitation crab, and various fruits. Tried this place for a quick lunch, and I really enjoyed it! I popped in on a Tuesday, just after they opened. It wasn't very busy, so I was served promptly. The staff was friendly, helpful and walked me through everything. I ordered three scoops (one salmon and two ahi tuna) with rice and many of the various toppings. Topped it all off with eel sauce, spicy mayo and sesame seeds. It was very fresh, yummy and filling. Might go with the two scoops next time, as this was more than enough food. Food all seems fresh and seasonings are all well-balanced and actually taste like their names (not just slight variations on soy sauce). Staff was friendly and patient (there was a family in front of me with an indecisive child but the staff was very nice and helpful, recommending things that are popular with kids etc). This is my favorite fast casual restaurant in STL. I go so much that I've received two free bowls. Being able to make your own poke bowl "chipotle" style is incredible. I love being able to get as many toppings as I want without an extra charge (except for avocado and kimchi). I'm in St. Louis at least once or twice a month for work and this place is now on my "GO HERE EVERY TRIP" list. It is sooo good! Portion sizes: The small bowl is usually more than enough food, but I've also gotten the regular size when I was super hungry. I also like that you can mix your fish scoops. I like to do part salmon, part spicy tuna, with the SPICY poke sauce. Toppings: Good variety, generous servings and also really fresh. I really love that mango is offered too and it is not an extra cost. This is also where my only gripe comes, in, though: I wish they'd bring back the fried garlic! It was one of my favorite toppings but when I went last week, the girl working told me they didn't have it anymore and she wasn't sure if it would be coming back :( Pokedoke, please bring it back! Really amazing, fresh food here. I am rarely in this part of town these days but happened to be nearby for a friend's cooking competition so decided to check the place out. They have different sizes of bowls depending on your appetite. I think I was satisfied with a small one, but I could see getting a medium at some point too. I just love raw fish that much! Salmon was my fish of choice on delicious white sushi rice. Had masago and avocado too... it's really like a deconstructed sushi roll. If you go to any grocery store in Hawaii, they have poke' behind the deli counters there. It's SO amazing, and I wish more of these types of places would open up. It's healthy, clean eatin' and the prices aren't too bad. I spent less here than what I typically spend getting sushi at a place like Wasabi. They also have non-fish options for those friends, family, significant others, etc., who get dragged in here and who want a non-seafood option. My BF got chicken, for instance, and he rather enjoyed it. They have lots of different sauce options too including non-spicy options for those of us with sensitive stomachs/allergies. I wish they would open up a location in St. Charles! Main street could use a place like this, mmm! Service was pretty good though I will see we did have a slightly...awkward... encounter. One of the ladies behind the counter asked what we wanted to drink. Sake sounded good so I ordered that. I asked if it came in a glass (like one pour per person?) or if we were buying the whole bottle. I've been a few times now and food has always been of good quality! Usually get a regular bowl ($12) with white rice, salmon, spicy tuna and ahi tuna. The toppings are typical of other poke places I have been to but they ask what level of "spice" you want on your bowl (mild, medium, spicy). I always go with the medium and it gives just enough kick to make it enjoyable. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because of the service. Every worker I've seen behind the counter has had a poor attitude. It's like they don't even want to be there and you are inconveniencing them by ordering food! read more

Yessss!!! Finally a poke place in st louis, I love Japanese food, and the more variety we get in STL the better. I tried the spicy tuna and ahi tuna bowl with almost everything on it with wasabi mayo and it was delicious! My wife tried a similar bowl with spicy mayo and it was great as well. Finally, the main challenge that we overcame was our son's aversion to asian food. He liked his bowl and is willing to come back here again.
