I have never been so angry or disappointed in a Humboldt County business as I am now with the gouging by Poletski appliances service department. The lights in our refrigerator started blinking so we paid the $100+ to have a service man check it out. He told us the company would not allow him to give us the part number of the circuit board that needed to be replaced. Now I know why. He left an estimate for $458 to fix the problem. It took less than five minutes to snap the light module off with a flat head screwdriver, two wire clips had to be popped off. The replacement, that we were quoted at $250 was $29.59 online. The replacement took less than five minutes including removing the food and replacing it. I have done business with Poletski's since they were a small local business. I won't again. It is ok to make a profit, but charging ten times what you pay for a part is obscene. Charing $200 for a ten minute service call is just gouging your customers. As I tell newcomers, Humboldt is a small town with a long memory. Please go back to serving your customers and not yourselves at our expense. read more

After the recent experience I had with Poletski's Appliance Center I will never use them again and I will tell everyone I know to avoid them. I contacted Poletski's to have someone come to my house on December 18th at 1pm to look at a clothes washer and also a dishwasher with a broken soap dispenser. I spoke to a woman on the phone and I told her that I would have to come home on my lunch hour to meet the repair person and that I take my lunch from 1-2pm. I made arrangements with my work to stay an extra half hour longer just in case. I told her that if the repair person did not think they would make it in that time frame to call me and let me know. No one showed up and no one called me. I had to call them back to find out they have a window from 1-5pm to expect them but I was never told that when I made the appointment. So when I called back I asked if I could reschedule to my next day off I had which was December 24. I made an appointment for the afternoon and they were to arrive from 1-5pm. I specifically set that afternoon aside not to plan anything else and to be ready to expect the repair person who I was told would be Jessie. I received a text message the night before confirming the appointment which I have attached a screen shot here. I was getting worried by 4:30pm as no one had shown up so I sent a text message and then called Poletski's on their main phone number to see what was going on. The phone just went to voice mail. I tried all the extensions and no one was there. No one bothered to call me to tell me they weren't coming. It is now 4 days later and still no one has bothered to call me back to apologize. The lack of courtesy and poor customer service from their employees has left a bad impression which I will never forget. I want to support local business but not when they treat potential customers like crap. I hope they read this and think about how they destroyed two afternoons and lost a customer. read more

I bought a new Maytag dishwasher from Poletski's in July 2015 for $840. On the front was a sticker that said 10 year warranty. It broke down 5 weeks after the 1 year anniversary. I paid Poletski's $80 to repair it in August 2016. It broke down again in November and the repairman said it would cost more to repair than replace it. I thought if I went to the store with receipts in hand surely the owner or manager would make it right and replace the bad appliance or somehow make good. To be prepared I went to Sears to get a quote for comparison on a new dishwasher. The owner was not in and would not be in until Monday. The Sears sale ended Saturday. The manager agreed to match the Sears sales price on a comparable unit but not offer anything else. I had spent $920 with Poletski's and had a worthless appliance in less than 2 years. When I asked again how they could make things right the manager finally, grudgingly offered 1/2 off on installation. I will never return to Poletski's. read more

Horrible customer service. My refrigerator broke down and we called them on Tuesday morning. The soonest appointment they gave me was Friday afternoon. That was already a long time to wait for a repair person to come out. Then on Friday the driver called to confirm address. He confirmed that he'd arrive as scheduled. AND THEN HE NEVER SHOWED UP!! Waited all afternoon for nothing. The next day the office says, "oh, well....next appointment is Tuesday." They flaked out on one appointment, and instead of making it up right away, they just schedule me another 4 days out. HORRIBLE. And when I complained about being treated this way, they accused me of being rude. (Apparently they want you to smile when they break their promises and jerk you around.) Grrrrrr..... read more

After many years of seemingly good appliance purchases (by both myself and my parents) and an occasional repairs from Poletski's, I was recently angered by the treatment I received. I called regarding repair of an electric wall oven originally installed in 1975. My appointment was rescheduled twice. Finally, I was told that parts would be difficult to find, was told "good luck" and hung up on when I started to ask more questions. Bad, bad, bad customer service. Called Pacific Coast Appliance Repair. They ordered and installed the correct parts and I now have a 100% functioning oven! Thumbs up to Pacific Coast. Big thumbs down to Poletski's. read more

We had the same technician over the years for installation and maintenance come out who was very professional, friendly and extremely smart. On one occasion he discovered that there was faulty wiring done by another corporate big business that caused a dishwasher to give out. We felt confident with this tech and his work. read more

My new washer/dryer set was affordable and had quick and professional installation that suited my needs and requirements. Never again...I will take my business elsewhere after the horrible treatment I received from a defective product that I paid full price for. When it comes to sales they are great, wonderful customer service but just hope you don't have any issues once the appliance arrives. It has been over a year that I have been dealing with them regarding a poorly manufactured KitchenAid fridge. They have done zero to truly correct the situation, have made zero effort to do anything quite frankly except play the blame game and give me the run around. After a year of being nice, I requested to speak to the owner Rick, left messages and he never returned my call. Folks, I write plenty of reviews, I do not make a habit of giving 1 stars to businesses but this one was definitely earned. Nowadays good customer service is hard to find unless they are from Poletski's. All our appliances are from Poletski's so we know what we are talking about. Very disappointed. I decided to buy local and went here for appliances. There was a very limited selection in the store, but they said they could order almost anything and have it in a few days. They ran my credit card for an ordinary Maytag washer and dryer. It took a month, and they could have cared less. And paying for delivery is just silly. When people spend thousands of dollars on items most of us can't haul, take it to them. Build that fee in to your price. Show an inkling of concern for something that resembles customer service. Next time, I'll order on the internet, get exactly what I want, pay less, and have it shipped for free. read more

Poletski's Appliance Center deserves more than 5 stars. I purchased a stackable washer/dryer from them 13 years ago and they are still both going strong. I have had some repairs needed for the washer over the years and the service person who has come to my home has always gone above and beyond to get my machine back in running order. This last time he replaced a part, which didn't entirely fix the problem. He came back two days later with parts he was able to re use from another machine, and at no charge he installed the parts and my machine, once again, is running top notch. Truly professional, great service to our community. I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

When our refrigerator started making funny noises, we called Poletski's for repair. Without so much as touching the appliance, the repair person immediately told my wife he wouldn't even look at the appliance because it had the wrong type of coolant in it due to age (about 10 years). This is something they could have told us when we called. Then he charged her $60 for the two-minute "service" call, saying they would deduct the cost from the purchase of a new refrigerator from them. I went in to discuss buying a refrigerator. The nice man (Matthew) stepped me through the process with good details. THEN, since I do not know the age of my existing refrigerator, he made a few suggestions that I try before I buy a new one. For all I know, my existing, in my new house, might just be a few years old and have plenty of life left. It probably clunks because I have almost nothing in my freezer. When I first move to Eureka my sister urged me to buy local, so we went to Poletski's where I purchase my stove, refer, washer and dryer and got good service. I have been back twice looking the first time for a black side by side refer and the second for a gas stove. On both occasions I was never approached by a sales person, they could not use the excuses of being busy as I was the only person in the store. I do however feel it was because of the way I was dressed ( in my work clothes) and did not look like I had enough money to buy things. During the first few weeks of August, my landlord's washer went out. It wasn't until last week (middle of October) that it was finally fixed. Polestski's seems to except their customers to be able to have a lot of free time on their hands to wait around for repairs, instead of working or attending school. During the ATT outage, we were scheduled for the third time for them to repair the washer (first initial view/second realized the problem was worst than expected). We sent an email from their website along with a Facebook message letting them know our phones were out due to the fires, but that email of Facebook would work. On Facebook, we could see the message had been seen, but no reply was made to let us know the employee called in sick and canceled calls for that day. It wasn't until I went into the store did I find out. The manager was very polite and professional, rescheduling us for the next day. That time, I admittedly missed their arrival as I was in the other room, but had been keeping an ear open because I was ready for it to be fixed. Rescheduled for the next week, they come in and repair everything but missing one screw. Told us they would be back in the morning. I reschedule my day and miss my personal appointments for their arrival. Call and it turns out we weren't on their list and were going to be seen between calls. They didn't come until around 2 pm, when we were told 8 am - 12pm. Their employees who came to my home were awesome, kind, and professional. However, having my facebook question alerting them of the situation with the ATT outage/question being ignored and having it take so long for a repair leads me to never wanting to order from them. read more

We moved from New Orleans to here at the end of May 2015. We first went to Sears in Eureka to but a washer and dryer. The promised delivery date came and went three times. Over a month had passed and we still did not have the washer and dryer that we had already paid for. We went to Poletski's and was able to purchase a better washer and dryer for $400 less than at Sears. They delivered it and installed it the next day. When I recently called for service for my washer last week (Feb 2016); the serviceman came out on time and promptly repaired the machine at no charge as it was still covered under warranty. I would recommend Poletski's Appliance center to anyone and will use them the next time that I am in the market for an appliance. read more

I understand that, however if you do not have customers you do not have a paycheck. I asked the manager of the store to have the owner call me. Two weeks later......NO CALL. A surprising ending to a fiasco! Our Automatic Dishwasher had reached the end of its life. Having a maintenance insurance policy, I called them for service. The result of the inspection was that the unit was DOA. The insurance service agreed to replace it with a like unit (Whirlpool). They said a new unit would be forthcoming within 10 business days. In the meantime I received notice that Poletski's would be installing the unit. That was a surprise since they were not the vendor initially called to service the unit. When I called Poletski's for clarification, they thought they were asked to service the unit. At this point I'm getting a little frustrated at the timeline and lack of proper service. Lo and behold, the replacement unit did not arrive as scheduled and now my frustration level was at a boiling point. After several inquiries I was told the replacement unit would be delivered on a Wednesday.......three weeks after the initial service. I called Poletski's to schedule an installation service and found that it would be a week later.....unbelievable. Then this fiasco began to turn into a positive way. The very friendly and accommodating scheduler at Poletski's, knowing my dilemma adjusted her schedules to allow an installer to be here on Friday, five days sooner. I was thankful for her effort but still skeptic, knowing how some installation workers performed their duties. What a surprise it was to see somebody that was not only friendly, but was also very professional in the performance of his job. He removed the old unit, installed the new unit all in under two hours. An excellent ending to a real horror saga. I now know that in the future, any recommendation for appliance purchases and installation services will definitely be Poletski's. Until you've experienced firsthand the environment at Poletski's you are really missing out on some great service. Poletski's will always remain as our number one center for appliances and service. They have some winners and they have some real challenging employees. I wish it was different or that they (Rick) knew how customers were being treated. They will lose customers and it's not necessary. If you're going to hire someone to answer the phone for service calls, it's vital they like people and are ready to treat people like gold. Instead it's somewhat defensive, somewhat unfriendly, with no appreciation that the customer (me) is vital to the long term success of the business. I purchased three professional grade appliances from Poletski's at one time. I like to spend my $$$ local, but I will never return to that store again. The salesman first quoted us the wrong prices, then screwed up the order. Then he kept trying to sell me a fridge model that I did not want. When we finally picked up our fridge & installed it, it didn't work properly. Then we had to wait days for a repairman to come & say we needed a new fridge. More delays. Weeks later we finally get a rude message telling to pick up our fridge when they were really supposed to deliver it. Then the new fridge gets delivered & they don't deliver the other two appliances with it so we have to make yet ANOTHER trip to the store & receive rude treatment. The fridge that was delivered & installed by them did not have the handles properly attached.....and on & on.... I bought a kitchen-full of Whirlpool appliances a few years back and was reasonably satisfied with the price and delivery. Opted out of installation due to price. Recently the oven door handle lost a screw and we took the door and screw in to Poletski's. we were quoted $60 just to put it in the shop, and another $30 to put in the screw. EXCUSE ME?!?! Poletski's is the worst, the WORST local business I have ever dealt with. Customer service does not exist. I was lied to by two different staff members about two separate things and ended up getting a double warranty (that they knew I had and didn't tell me about). They never come out when they say they will. They never return calls. I tried being nice but they didn't care. Also, two of the products I purchased over the years (of the 3 total from them) were 'lemons' and boy did that salesperson do a number on me. The repair guy was slimy and he didn't actually repair anything, even though he came out 4 or 5 times. Don't buy here - you will be miserable. I think they hate customers. read more

Well, shut my mouth, and color me surprised! Great service, and a good tech. I heard the sound of machine-death coming from our dishwasher two nights ago, so, through my tears, and against all hope, instead of rushing out to buy a new one for $700-800 or more, (greed-heads make a FORTUNE on a dishwasher...probably used to hire a person to come over and do your dishes for less than the annual cost of purchase and usage of a new dishwasher) I called Poletski's, as it was the point of purchase, and asked if I could get a repair. I was pleasantly surprised when I was told that 'they can usually be repaired, and we can have a repairman out tomorrow morning!! (I had dreaded the "it'll be six weeks...."). I later received a call from them, and was told that a cancellation had come up, and did I want the tech over that afternoon. (Like-hey-ya want a free $200? Of course I wanted him ASAP-either that, or do dishes by hand-a forgotten art!) Frank showed up at 4, and with skill and certainty, speedily facilitated the repair, and was done in time for me to prepare dinner! So, I would recommend Poletski's for repair in a minute. And, if the opportunity arises, ask for Frank! Thanks gang-GREAT JOB! I love, love, love these guys. They have repaired my appliances and kept them going as long as possible, and when it did come time to buy new ones, they made it so easy. Last night our dryer died and I called them this morning to ask for a new one that more or less matched the washer they sold me last year. It was here and installed four hours later--I didn't even have to go into the shop. This is truly a great local business. Highly recommended. read more

I've been to their showroom at least 4 times to look at appliances. The first time we were there, the salesman was helpful, but they didn't have what we wanted in stock and we needed a fridge ASAP. I went there the other times to look at washer and dryers and try to figure out what would work well in out house. I had a bit of help from the salesman, but nothing that helped me decide between the options. I got the impression that they are more comfortable being told what you want, rather than helping you make an informed decision. During one of those visits, I also had questions about an oven/range on their showroom floor, and got no information out him. We need to replace just about every appliance in our house in the next few years, but I probably won't be going to Poletski's to do it. read more

Our 5 year old Samsung refrigerator began to act up so Poletski sent out a serviceman to diagnosis the problem. The service call was $80, but he said that he would take that off of the repair charge. The quote for the repair of the control card was $314. They did not break down the part and labor. Not knowing what it entailed I accepted the quote. I was there for the repair and watched as the serviceman took out approximately 8 screws, unplugged the card, snapped in the new card, replaced the screws and was done. He was in the house between 15 and 20 minutes. I called later for a breakdown of the part and labor and was told that the part was $141 and labor was $242. When I questioned the labor cost I was told that it was a standard rate for that part. So the final cost for this 20 minute repair was $394.89, $314.94 just for labor alone. read more

We just got our new washer and dryer from Poletsky's. As well as a new washer and dryer for my mother. They gave us a great deal and the salesman listened to my needs and recommended the exact washers and dryers I was looking at online. We had to have our dryer converted to gas, so there was a week delay, and honestly we got scheduled for a much later date on accident, but as soon as I called to check on where the conversion was and they discovered the mistake they jumped to get it done by the next day. I have not had to use the service department yet, so I can't speak to that, but I will say that we plan on heading back for our new refrigerator and dishwasher! read more

Following installation we discovered a problem with one of the appliances and the General Manager got personally involved to assure that their solution would satisfy our needs and expectations. Worst experience I have ever had in my life. Got a lemon refrigerator in 2013 that should have been replaced back then, and is still break down. Service man with a major attitude every time he comes out. Had to show him how to turn on ice maker. Had to have a friend who sounds like a man talk to the manager to get them out here immediately right after I bought it to fix it. When I go into their office, I get attitudes too. Wish I had not bought all my appliances from them (over $5000). You think they would treat me better. The only nice people are the ones who sell things. Try to get a part and there is an attitude. Finally got Fridgidaire to accept Coastal Appliance Center so no going back. If you want an appliance, GO TO SEARS. Stay away from this place. So glad I extended my warranty because of so many problems with the refrigerator. Good thing I did, cuz I know it is going to break down again. Refrigerator from hell I call it. They know they have the Monopoly in our small town and obviously don't think they have to treat their customers right. STAY AWAY!!!! WARNING!!!! read more

Do not, I repeat, do not buy from them or use their repair service! Worst service ever. Came out in the beginning of June to fix washer and dryer. Was able to fix dryer but needed to order part for washer. It is now the middle of July and I still don't have a washer. They sent a repair man that didn't know how to fix our washer to fix it. Took our washer and have had for over a week and still not fixed. Gave me a loaner and twice it has filled my laundry room with water because it leaks. After they finally got to repairing my washer, they seemed to have found more issues with it and it would be another 250.00 to repair along with the 180.00 for the original repair and that doesn't include labor. Forget that, time for a new washer. Spoke with the manager. He was willing to let us purchase a washer at cost from them and also we would not have to pay for the repairs that they have already made on the washer. I politely told them no that I had already purchased another washer and please come and pick up their loaner and return our washer. Well, soonest they can do that is Wednesday, today is Friday. Really, fine, I will take your loaner washer out myself and put my own washer in. Set me up for Wednesday then. Half hour later receive a phone call that they can have someone out this afternoon to pick of the loaner but cant bring our washer because it is still taken apart. They actually had the nerve to ask if we still wanted the old washer. So it looks like our old washer will be delivered next Wednesday and the loaner should be gone today. I hope they plan on helping clean up all the water that is all over my floor! I will never, ever use Poletski's and will tell all my family and friends not to use them. read more
