Shoutout to the Freeport Police department! Today I moved a canoe from my friends backyard in RVC to my place over in Freeport. I literally had it strapped down on my roof. I called the Freeport police station to ask about the legality of it and if permitted, to let them know I'd be on the road, in case it might be an issue with anyone patrolling. They were super nice on the phone and mentioned that as long as it is secure, I should be fine. I indeed made sure it wasn't budging anywhere and took their subsequent advice about putting on my hazards and driving super slow. I arrived canoe and car in one piece and was grateful for their patience with all my questions over the phone. It felt comforting knowing I could reference my phone call if pulled over. read more

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! A very, very kind Freeport policeman helped me after I had a flat tire on the Meadowbrook Pkwy and managed to get to Sunrise Highway Gas Station in Freeport. Unfortunately, the station only pumped gas. This wonderful policeman stayed with me, helped me by suggesting we put air in my tire and then offered to even follow me down the road to a place to get the tire fixed. Can't thank you read more
