My husband had tried a different location few weeks ago and raved about the chicken. So we saw this location on our way to the airport and decided to stop to eat. The place has a fast food vibe. You order and they give you a number and bring the food to the table. We ordered the 12 piece meal with 3 sides. It was so much food. I saw another review saying it was expensive but honestly the chicken pieces were huge. We ordered both fried and rotisserie and they were very juicy. The fried was our favorite. Crispy on the outside without it having that thick oily crust and the inside was tender and ver juicy. The rotisserie had a different seasoning. It was very good but a little to much seasoning for our taste. the fried was just perfect. As sides we had coleslaw, fries and fried yuca. It also comes with rolls. The coleslaw is amazing. The service was good. The lady who brought our food to our table was nice. I was positively surprised at this place. If you are looking for a fast but delicious option this is it. I got the 3 piece dark meat combo with fries and a large horchata. The crunch of the fried chicken is delicious. The breading is not too heavy. The horchata is a bit sweet and is not authentic but it will do. The sweet chili sauce was nice to dip my chicken in. My 4 stars is due to the fact that they were closed for like 2 weeks. Recently ate at this establishment. Wife and I arrived around 9:30pm on a Friday night. There was a 3 piece chicken dinner that offered 2 sides. We both ordered this option and was told there was no white meat available. Only dark. After questioning this I was told there was white meat but it was still cooking and we would need to wait 10-15 min. I said that was fine. We added sides (beans, Mac and cheese sweet potatoes and something else which was NOT French fries. We waited about 20 minutes for the food to arrive and just before she brought it over she came over and tried to tell us she was out of items. She did not speak English and we struggled to engage in conversation.we had no idea what, other than Mac and Cheese, was no longer available so she said Fries about three times. So, we said "ok Fries". So 5 minutes later she came out with the chicken and 4 orders of fries. I said what? Nothing else is available? She gave me a strange stare and shrugged. It's been Groupon time of week, this is my second time at this establishment, I totally almost forgot about this place. I went with my hungry teen growing boys, I wasn't really in the mood to cook and since I had a infamous Groupon, I said dinner will be at Pollo Campero. Pollo Campero is really easy to find, right off south west 8th street and 28th Avenue. When we got there it was pretty packed with people. I was wondering on where I was going to sit at with my boys, but I saw one of the workers quickly clearing the tables that were empty. I tried looking at the menu online and it wasn't much help and Yelp helped me out a little bit. We finally decided on a 8-piece family meal for $22.99, it came with two sides. (I got 6 pieces fried and 2 pieces grilled for me) luckily, the black beans and rice equals to side, french fries, and you had the options of getting rolls or tortilla, the kids opted for rolls which they did not eat. I opted for a healthier side and ordered a street corn salad. I saw that pretty much the chicken was in a warmer, so it wasn't fresh fried chicken or the grill wasn't that fresh either. I paid for my meal and a sever took our meal to the table. I noticed that they had a condiment cart, which was a little messy as you can see in the photo I took, they offered pico de gallo, onions with cilantro, mild sauce, and a hotter sauce. I served myself a grilled drumstick and a scoop of the street corn salad which was a combination of grilled corn, avocado, onions, and I'm guessing cotija cheese, I wasn't a fan and it did not taste fresh to me either. I then opted for the blacks beans with a little rice and that tasted way better than that corn salad. I ate my portion of my meal and when I looked up my sons only left one piece of chicken and about four pieces of fries (LOL). I really liked the seasoning of the chicken, it was something different from restaurants like La Granga and Pollo Tropical. The establishment is a little small and it can get very congested really quick if a couple of customers come through. I would like to come here a little more and try the other things on the menu. Tonight I got to experience the chicken tenders from here at the Burger Beast's Luv Me Tenders event at Magic City Casino. These tenders are delicious!! Of the 12 venders that were present, I only enjoyed two venders and Pollo Campero was one of them. The staff that was present was super nice and informative. As I had a lot of question about their restaurant, location and other menu items. I will definitely be checking this restaurant out in the near future if for nothing more than the chicken tenders. I found out about this place as I drove by it a few times thinking of its resemblance to the chicken restaurant in "Breaking Bad" for its similarity in name. The camperitos aka nuggets are fried and crispy morsels of delicious white meat chicken perfect for the kid in you (and the one in the backseat) and come paired with plenty of combo styles with filling sides. It might be considered fast food but it's certainly healthier and more wholesome than other spots in the area. I grabbed a few chicken empanadas as well which were super flavorful and made just right. The way they season and prepare their Peruvian style chicken makes the wait worthwhile! I suggest ordering the half chicken entree as it can feed a few or make a great leftover box.
