I love Pollo Mania's chicken, but hate how it makes my breath smell after. haha Pollo Mania is definitely one of the city's best restaurants. It's located in the same plaza as Food 4 Less and El Pollo Loco. Parking gets crazy around lunch time. I usually call in my order and take it to-go since it's more of a hole-in-the-wall spot. My order is usually ready by the time I get there, but depending on how busy they are it may take a while. At least you know your food is made fresh! My go-to order is the 1/4 chicken combo. For less than 10 bucks you can get a generous quarter chicken with two sides. I usually get their rice and fries. Their fries are potato-ey and perfect with their aji sauce (orange sauce, has a great kick!) The chicken is perfectly seasoned and juicy. Again, it'll make your breath stink but it's so worth it! =P I also love drenching my rice in their chimchurri (green sauce). Their Lomo Saltado is also another favorite. Think "Peruvian carne asada fries." It comes with a generous amount of perfectly seasoned meat, potatoes, red onions, tomatoes and rice. They even have a lomo saltado burrito! read more

WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER! This is my go-to spot for lunch during my break at work. They have the most delicious wood roasted Peruvian rotisserie chicken! This place is very comparable to Mr. Pollo in West Covina. The meat is moist and juicy and the prices are amazing for the portion size. They have lunch specials but I usually get a medium chicken soup for $5, that comes with a side of rice, tortillas, cilantro/onions, and salsa. The soup consists of huge chunks of fresh chicken, carrots, cabbage, and potatoes. I'm a huge soup lover and I find myself craving this soup on a weekly basis! I have yet to try the other items on the menu but the 1/4 chicken special with two sides for $7 is a great deal as well! read more

This is a smaller, hole in the wall type place. Located in a strip mall with other restaurants and grocery store. Consistently good- can't go wrong with the lomo saltado. read more

One of my favorite things at this place were their fries. Some geniuses decided to save some pennies and use cheap frozen fries. Bring back fresh cut fries. Pretty pricy at around $40 for a whole chicken with 2 sides. Not mad just disappointed read more

Pollo Mania has the best lomo saltada/pollo saltada that I have tried around my area. The beef and chicken are cooked tender and perfectly. The flavors are all there and I like how you can separate the potatoes from the meat so the potatoes don't get too soggy. I just love Peruvian food. The service was good and efficient. I will definitely be coming back here when I crave it. read more

My girlfriend and I are absolutely in LOVE with Peruvian Food. Unfortunately I was craving Lomo Saltado and we found this place on a whim. Holy cow I'm astonished how good it is here! 4.5 - Cheap and good food. My GF and I love Peruvian food. We have never found one near our place until one. We usually drive to Mamita Peruvian Restaurant in Burbank or Misky Misky Cocina Peruana and Mr Pollo in West Covina. All of them are pretty good but I just hate driving in traffic. I found this place on Yelp and was pretty excited to give it a try. El Monte is a short drive from where I live. The restaurant is located in a plaza so there is plenty of parking options. The restaurant is pretty small and definitely don't expect anything fancy. We tried their Lomo Saltado and their Rotisserie Chicken Combo (1/2 a chicken). The lomo saltado was amazing! The beef was really tender and very flavorful. It was packed with flavor! The chicken itself was really moist and tender. The combo comes with two sides and I got the rice and the beans. The rice in the lomo saltado and the chicken were amazing!!! Super flavorful rice. The only thing missing here was a sauce bar with the green (aji) sauce and chimichurri sauce. They do have a salsa bar with pico de gallo and hot sauce only. The food comes with a small pack of hot sauce and chimichurri but I want that aji!!! read more

I'd give this place 0 stars if I could. I went in 3/10 and got a lomo saltado. 4 hours after I consumed my food I started experiencing terrible stomach cramps and nausea. I could barely even walk because of how much pain I was in. I ended throwing up every single piece of food I ate from here. Including every liquid that was in my stomach. Throughout the night my stomach was literally killing me. I ended up calling my cousin whom I went with, and guess what? She asked me if I got food poisoning too. If you want to have the worst night of your life, throw up the $40 you spent on food, want someone who doesn't wash their hands handling your food, go here. You WILL get food poisoning like me AND my cousin did. Terrible. read more

I've always been a big fan of Pollo Mania right off the I-10 in the beautiful resort town called El Monte, Califas. I was in the know personally... BUT my peeps weren't so I made the executive decision to go here cause I hadn't been in ages!!! We were all clucken hangry from idling along 10mph Southland traffic after a 8 hour drive! Sooo I pulled the trigger. I fly...So I buy....You shut up and We eat. Decision settled! Done and done. Lomo Saltado. Two thumbs up and 3 slaps! That's how many times I had to slap someone's hand away from eating all my fries in my lomo. I'm kind of a lomo sapien intellectualy thanks for my carb refeed on them fries Señor Mania! The Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken always moist seasoned perfectly. The fresh cut fries are not of the frozen variety which is an added bonus. Consistent and simple but oh so great! The spicy orange aji sauce is fantastic! Mix it with mayo to lower the heat if you must. Quick side rant: Please for the love of god why SF doesn't have one single spot for Peruvian Pollo a la brasa to go type cheap eats or under $12?! I know about Limon Rotisserie in the Mission blah blah blah organic Mary's chickens! But that's a sitdown spot and even the take out is $25+ And for the final score for the number of places I can get Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken under $12 in the 2017 Peruvian Chicken World Series...LA Area 52 SF Bay Area 0. A little hole in the wall that you would think is connected to Juan Pollo, but it's way better. I had the chicken salad and it was fantastic. The chicken is not dry and the other items have more flavor than the other chicken places. I will keep coming back. read more

This was our first time trying this place and it is so good! We tried the whole chicken, Pollo saltado, Lomo saltado and Maracuya. The whole chicken comes with tortillas and 4 different sauces. The saltado come with tortillas too. The food was so good that we ordered more to take home. The chicken is super juicy and flavorful! Both saltados were delicious too. Food is made fresh and comes out piping hot!! The maracuya is a sweet passion fruit drink that is so incredible. Can't go wrong with anything here. Give this place a try! You won't regret it. read more

Love this place. Chicken is very tender and flavorful. This last visit I got the chicken sandwich with French fries and my husband got the burrito. Chicken sandwich is not the usual fried sandwich it's more like a chicken salad inside a buttery soft bun. Very refreshing for the summer time. The portions are huge. Great option for when you are very hungry. The burrito is also very big easy for on the go meals. French fries are fresh cut fries made to order. read more

I had the lomo saltado with the chica morada (the Peruvian version of jamaica, but richer!) and it was delicious and satisfying. The staff member who assisted me with my order was very nice and helpful. Lastly, their bathroom was CLEAN. Lots of points for that achievement. read more

Really delicious pollo a la brasa/Chicken Combo and Aguadito Soup, food 5/5. Establishment is set up like a fast food restaurant, there are tables and chairs available for in door dining. The cole slaw is really great, we bought a whole chicken + 2 side dishes and out the door was about $27 including a tip. Very flavorful and unique spices, not hot, but it came with a wonderful amount of small spice dipping sauces. We love the Stinking Rose (Garlic parsley and oil), but we ate that on bread the next day. It will feed us for at least 6 meals, a bargain. read more

My favorite Peruvian food in LA. I love their lomo saltodo and rotisserie chicken. Their flour tortillas are great too. They get busy and don't answer the phone sometimes but that's ok. I'll still drive by and order in person. They do run out of chicken so be prepared to order something else. read more

I've definitely had better Peruvian food than this, pictures can be deceiving! Reviews can also be deceiving, let me tell you their service is the worst! The lady answering the phone was very mean as she was taking my order and not helpful at all like if she was bothered or just not wanting to get my order! wow 0 stars for their customer service, when I came to pick up my order the lady that helped me was also rude and I'm not sure if it was the same lady answering the phone but wow, smh.. no bueno! Their lomo saltado was extra greasy, the chicken was very dry, and the rice was so plain, their order of beans was more soup than beans.. we ordered a medium chicken soup and it was an alright medium size, it was so, so salty though, also it supposed to come with a side of rice and they barely added any rice, like a little portion of rice, ridiculous! You can see in the picture below.. You're better off ordering from EL POLLO LOCO across the street which is totally better and way more cheap than this place with a better service! The interior has a modern industrial, almost nightclub-like style, with neon lights and graffiti-style murals. Everything is designed to feel wild, young, and HOT. When I walked in, every table was occupied by Latinos, and about half of them were teenagers, loud and clearly having a good time. What surprised me was that there was not a single Chinese staff member inside, even though the restaurant is right in the middle of a Chinese neighborhood. Since there were only two of us, and since I am not a big fan of fried chicken, we only ordered one combo with two sliders. One was Hot, the third heat level, and the other was Reaper, the extreme level. I had the Hot one. It was actually very good. The chicken was crispy outside and tender inside. Even though it was chicken breast, which is usually not my favorite part, it was still juicy. I would probably rank it as my second favorite fried chicken. Jollibee is still number one for me, but Dave's was better than I expected. The chicken itself was good, except for the Reaper one. My recommendation is simple: do not even try it. Coco was sweating and her face turned pale after one bite, and she is a well-known spicy lover. That should tell you everything. Another recommendation: eat the chicken with Dave's signature sauce. I do not know exactly what is inside, but it tasted like it had some honey mixed in, and it worked really well with the chicken. The waffle-cut fries were also good. They were crispy outside, soft inside, and not too dry. Again, the Hot level, which is the third level, is just right. Trust me. Do not go higher unless you are doing it purely as a challenge.
