If you need a quiet place to sit and look at the river, rest and write a postcard, go to the right. You will find yourself on a part of the island that is calm, tranquil and beautiful. There is a park where locals walk their dogs, sunbath and relax. Also the Museum Kampa is just along the river bank within the park. Out of the hotel and making a U turn, you will find yourself in another quiet little quarter near the French Embassy and the Lennon Wall. Because of the multiple bridges and streets, you basically can walk in any direction from this hotel and find something amazing, interesting and beautiful. By altering your route back, explore even more without going out of your way. My only criticism of the place.... the breakfast. It has improved over the years I've stayed there, but is not great. Considering the price of the hotel AND their frequent last minute deals, it was never a bother. I've been to Prague 49 times and always stay here when "my" room is available. Hopefully this gives you some perspective..... the breakfast is obviously not a deal breaker. Beautiful, large rooms with lovely bathrooms (including a bidet in my room). The staff have been absolutely wonderful and the breakfasts are amazing! Hotel is tucked away from the crowds, nestled down a tiny lane up the hill near the Palace complex. It's a wonderful respite from the hectic crowdedness of the main city areas, yet is close enough for a quick jaunt. Highly recommend!

The high end must be massive. One of the largest hotel rooms I have ever rented, especially in Europe. Each room could be the equivalent of the average hotel room. It comes with two separate toilets, one with a bidet. Well maintained, very clean. Excellent DeLonghi coffee maker. You could easily live here permanently. Rooms have slippers and robes although shower is that typical European style with the half wall to keep in most of the water. Breakfast was a fantastic array of cereals, fruit, cheeses, meats, scrambled and hard boiled eggs, baked beans, sausage, yoghurt, pastries and an array of teas. Location is quiet and in a secure neighborhood just down the road from the US embassy and across from the German embassy. Suite has its own router although we had some difficulty with it but could easily get a signal from another room. Soaps are a bit small and shampoo not of the best quality but passable. Furniture is all nice and in perfect condition, same as walls and ceilings. No rips, stains or pealing so they do a wonderful job on maintenance. Staff was very friendly and helpful. All around terrific experience and would highly recommend.

We chose to book at Hotel at the Big Boot for many reasons, not just the interesting name alone…read more The hotel is located in the Mala Strana district of Prague, just across the street from the German Embassy. It's housed in a 17th century home that spans several floors of rooms, offering all the old world charm you'd expect with lots of modern conveniences tossed in. The owner/operators and their staff are extremely friendly and exceedingly helpful. They arranged for a car to pick us up at the airport to relieve the pressure of navigating cabs in a foreign language within minutes of arrival. Upon arrival, we were welcomed, checked in and escorted to our amazing room within minutes. The room featured two windows surrounded by vines and flowers that opened to overlook the square below and the German Embassy. The furniture was older, but extremely comfortable. The bathroom was refurbished with modern fixtures, including a nice glass shower and rain shower head. Breakfast each morning was an informal affair with the staff spending time with each guest. The offerings included cereals, pastries and other items on the table, as well as cooked-to-order eggs and breakfast meats. There was lots of coffee and juice as well. Overall, a wonderful breakfast option until we learned our way around. The staff helped with tour bookings, cabs, restaurant recommendations and reservations and even some cultural conversation over a glass of wine on a cold, rainy night. When we were ready to depart, they arranged for a car to take us to the train station and offered water and fruit for the trip. We can only categorize our stay at House at the Big Boot as wonderful and would recommend this hotel to anyone without reservations.
