Don't sleep on this place the chef is phenomenal the food was fantastic the family vibe is there and they do good business. I ordered a plate of lamb ribs, turkey tail, mackerel in coconut milk, cornbread luau, fa'i in coconut milk, sapsui and meat pies. I had never tried poly food before so I was excited seeing what was on the menu. Poly is a small take-out spot but packs a BIG punch in terms of taste flavor and just feel-good comfort food. The New Zealand sausage is bomb. I also liked their chop suey, chicken curry, turkey tail and mussels. First time here so I was limited to what I could get. I liked this place so much I came back the next day. It was that good!!This spot is clean and cosey. The workers here are very nice and you can feel the love they put in the food. I love their food and been here a few times. Today I bought more meat pies and when I cut it open to see how much meat was in it, there was less than half. That's why the 3 rating. It has the meat, mushrooms, and mozzarella cheese. It was mostly cheese (70%) and felt disappointed becuz the meat pies I had last week had more meat. Or I felt it had more meat. In New Zealand it's mostly meat with less fillers . They have different flavors. But delicious taste at Poly's. I just won't buy them anymore. Plus I ordered 2 pieces of baked taro and the girl gave me 3 instead & I was flabbergasted that those 3 pieces cost me $30!! I didn't know until I got home that she gave me 3 instead of 2. My favorite is the sapasui, povi, and palusami. No other place makes their palusami like Poly Grill!! The type of noodles they use makes the texture of the sapasui delish, and I can't find this noodle at any store!! The povi is so good and pairs extremely well w the creamy palusami. I don't really eat taro and banana but I like the way they make theirs!! Family owned and operated, very friendly and helpful. May be a bit pricey but then again so is everything else!! We've tried other Samoan food between LA, SD, & Riverside and Poly Grill is BY FAR THE BEST!!! They make fresh bread (unsliced) and it's so yummy!! Great half moon pies too!! This is our second time driving out to Poly. Grill &Bakery. Today we picked up some Turkey Tail, sausage. Corned beef, Taro in coconut milk and Sapa Sui. So good we forgot to get a picture. But we also ordered Half moon pies, Palusami, to pick up the next day Once we were there to pick up the items, we also tried the Pani Popo, Panikeke, and the Suafa'i. Can't say enough on how good they each tasted. My husband said each item was just like home cooking and for me it reminded me of visiting of our family gatherings. The location is easy to find. Not to far off the freeway. Once inside look over the prepared food and let them know is what you would like from the prepared food. My friend gave me a meat pie from Poly Grill & Bakery and it was so good, I had to try their food. The ambience is cozy and inviting. The staff is even more friendly and welcoming. I told the server that it was my first time there and she patiently answered my questions and told me about each dish. From the corner of my eye, I noticed a man behind the counter smiling as he watched me salivating over the food. He further described some of the dishes and made me even hungrier. My only complaint is that they ran out of the meat pies. But that's understandable given how good they are. I took my food back to the office to eat. I had the corned beef, lamb stir fry, roasted pork, mackerel, palusami, and chop suey. I couldn't single out any one dish since they were all delicious! It's located in a smaller lot, but you probably won't miss it and there will probably be parking. We stopped by late morning for lunch and got mixed plates. Staff's super friendly and answered all the questions we had. If you're not sure what to get, you can ask them for recommendations. I can't remember what I ordered, but at least I have pictures! Really enjoyed everything I got - mussels, sausage, corn beef?, crispy pork, taro, and turkey. All really strong flavors that went even better with the rice. I really enjoyed the crunch on the crispy pork skin. The mussels were one of my top favorites and I'd get it again. It's definitely enough food to eat twice if you have rice at home. So, living in NorCal but driving into SoCal from Vegas that Saturday morning and having a last minute small party for Tina in SoCal, of course I had to order our main menu items from Poly Grill! I called on a Friday the day before (my bad!) and ordered a large tray of each of the following: faspovi, fa'i, taro, & sapasui for pick up the next day - I was lucky that they could make it happen as they usually require 1 week advance notice. Sadly, the baker was not in that weekend so we weren't able to order any half moon pies, puligi, or peach tarts. Our trays were ready on time and they helped us load the car on a busy Saturday - talk about service!! We also picked up 2 plates for the drive (we couldn't wait!) and their last pan of panipopo. They have the best Samoan food in Carson, aside from the home cooked meals ;) Everything that I have ordered so far, I love: the Palusami, Sapasui, Pani Popo, Pai Fala, Talo, Sausage and Corned Beef is so good! I definitely want to try all of the other items on the menu. It is best to go right when they open or sometime in the morning. You will have a bigger selection as they do run out of food quickly. They are pricier than the other Samoan joints in the area, but they sure taste better. You are definitely going to spend minimum of $20 when ordering from here. They have Student and Veteran Military discounts, which is a plus. So definitely bring your student and veteran military IDs to get that extra discount. The service is excellent. We ordered 3 plates consisting of a combination of fai (cooked banana in coconut milk), sosisi (cooked New Zealand sausage), sapasui (chop suey), povi masima (cooked corned beef slab w/cabbage), and palusami (coconut milk and onions wrapped in taro leaves and baked). I knew we were in for some good eats as soon as we opened the door and walked in...the delicious smells immediately hit me. Of course we also had to pick up a pineapple half moon pie for dessert. For the amount of food we bought, the price was great. Not sure why people say it's expensive, when the quality of the food is priced right.
