Don't sleep on this place the chef is phenomenal the food was fantastic the family vibe is there and they do good business. I ordered a plate of lamb ribs, turkey tail, mackerel in coconut milk, cornbread luau, fa'i in coconut milk, sapsui and meat pies. All were fantastic the meat pies where new from last time I went their and great add on was great after a warm up in the air fryer. Any time I'm in long beach I'm grabbing something from here.

This spot is a true hidden gem for samoan food in Carson! Food was delicious and you can tell everything is fresh and homemade. Everything on my plate was seasoned to perfection and did not disappoint. Staff was extremely kind with attentive service and the ambiance was inviting with many decorations. Hope to be back soon to try other things on the menu!

Best Samoan food in Southern California, hands down. My team had never tried Samoan food so I decided to order a spread for them! Everything was great and made it early enough to get some Pani Popo. Everything was amazing and I think you gained some new fans of Samoan food which was the whole purpose.

    - Poly Grill is Popping this morning like every morning. Top of the Line Samoan Food Spot in the local L.A. and O.C. Area..!

They also Sell Fried Pork Skins and my Favorite is the Fried Chicken Skin. If you haven't been You should Definitely stop in and Buy Something So You Can Try Something...!

I had never tried poly food before so I was excited seeing what was on the menu. Poly is a small take-out spot but packs a BIG punch in terms of taste flavor and just feel-good comfort food. The New Zealand sausage is bomb. I also liked their chop suey, chicken curry, turkey tail and mussels. First time here so I was limited to what I could get. I liked this place so much I came back the next day. It was that good!!This spot is clean and cosey. The workers here are very nice and you can feel the love they put in the food. You just feel welcomed coming here to get great tasting food. I will try their meat pie next time since they run out quick. Thank you to my friend for introducing me to Polynesian food. This place is a gem and I wish there was one just like it near where I live in Anaheim. Thanks Poly. Now I need me a souvenir shirt.

Poly Grill is da bomb!! Wish they were closer so I can get me some delicious Samoan food. This hidden island gem is located on Carson St right by the 405 freeway. My favorite is the sapasui, povi, and palusami. No other place makes their palusami like Poly Grill!! The type of noodles they use makes the texture of the sapasui delish, and I can't find this noodle at any store!! The povi is so good and pairs extremely well w the creamy palusami. I don't really eat taro and banana but I like the way they make theirs!! Family owned and operated, very friendly and helpful. May be a bit pricey but then again so is everything else!! We've tried other Samoan food between LA, SD, & Riverside and Poly Grill is BY FAR THE BEST!!! They make fresh bread (unsliced) and it's so yummy!! Great half moon pies too!! Don't forget the traditional Anchor butter (imported from New Zealand) bc it's sooooo delish w the fresh warm bread!! Highly recommend if you're craving Samoan food. And I also like coming here bc it's a far drive and I love food ventures!!

This is our second time driving out to Poly. Grill &Bakery. Today we picked up some Turkey Tail, sausage. Corned beef, Taro in coconut milk and Sapa Sui. So good we forgot to get a picture. But we also ordered Half moon pies, Palusami, to pick up the next day Once we were there to pick up the items, we also tried the Pani Popo, Panikeke, and the Suafa'i. Can't say enough on how good they each tasted. My husband said each item was just like home cooking and for me it reminded me of visiting of our family gatherings. The location is easy to find. Not to far off the freeway. Once inside look over the prepared food and let them know is what you would like from the prepared food. We were thankful to meet Miracle, she was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable of each item we ordered. Next time you stop in, talk with the staff, let them show you all the choices.

The meat pie was 70% cheese & had meat with one mushroom in the filling. Most meat pies are 90% meat in New Zealand.

I love their food and been here a few times. Today I bought more meat pies and when I cut it open to see how much meat was in it, there was less than half. That's why the 3 rating. It has the meat, mushrooms, and mozzarella cheese. It was mostly cheese (70%) and felt disappointed becuz the meat pies I had last week had more meat. Or I felt it had more meat. In New Zealand it's mostly meat with less fillers . They have different flavors. But delicious taste at Poly's. I just won't buy them anymore. Plus I ordered 2 pieces of baked taro and the girl gave me 3 instead & I was flabbergasted that those 3 pieces cost me $30!! I didn't know until I got home that she gave me 3 instead of 2. They charge you by the weight. That's way too much. Service was great. People are nice. Ambiance nice. Small mom & pop bakery. Tables to sit and eat. Clean and neat. Prices too are too high.

We booked them for my daughter's 5th birthday party. We paid over $1,000 for a party size of 60 people. When we asked if the food was ready because they didn't inform us that it was, the first 10 or so people grabbed their food, they said they ran out of the tortillas needed for the big UCE burrito, mind you this is the main reason we booked them because they're known for this burrito. When I went to get a burrito, that's when I was made aware they had already ran out of the tortillas, this was about 15 to 20 mins into serving time. My husband wasn't happy to hear this so he took it upon himself to go and buy more tortillas in order to make more of these burritos. (They didn't even offer to reimburse him for the inconvenience of this) To top it all off, BJ, the owner, came off really rude and stand offish, while one of his sons was nice and would answer any questions we had even when the questions were directed towards BJ. (who didn't even turn around to acknowledge whomever was speaking to him) Then at the end of the service, they packed everything up and left it on a table inside where the party was being held and didn't let anyone know that they were done and leaving. It's a shame because we really enjoyed their food from past experiences which led us to book them for our event, but we won't be doing it again.

We parked in the multi-story parking garage behind Hamburger Mary's. Secret Island is a little over a block away. You can make reservations on OpenTable. It has a bit of a speakeasy entrance, as it is not plainly marked. Look for the staircase going down with greenery around it and the Secret Island sign downstairs. Go right at the bottom of the stairs and there is a little walkway where you see a very cool tiki display. It you stay there long enough, the lights will flash and you will hear thunder. Walk a little further and go through the door to enter. I was blown away by the atmosphere and build. Kudos to Bamboo Ben! It is dimly lit with a ton of cave wall, bamboo, thatch, netting, tiki lights, floats, skulls, tikis, and other décor. The bar is loaded with bottles and looks great with dark blue and green backlighting. The bar top is wood with deep cutouts that are filled with clear epoxy. The booths in the main dining area are little tiki huts and even have clouds overhead. There was great tiki music playing the whole time. A few times an hour a thunderstorm hits. The lights dim, lightning flashes with thunder sound effects, and red lights illuminate cracks in the floor that looks like lava veins. There is also a photo-op "Pele's Throne" which is a big lava rock surrounded chair. We sat at the bar and had the coconut shrimp appetizer ($12). The shrimp were breaded and cooked well, and had a coconut sprinkle on top. The spicy dipping sauce complemented the shrimp well. I started out with the Drunken Monkey (Makers Mark 46, Jamaican rum, banana liqueur, cinnamon, allspice, Angostura bitters, normally $19, $17 during happy hour). It was somewhat bourbon forward with a little funk from the Jamaican rum. I definitely got the cinnamon notes with a little banana and allspice in the background. She started out with the El Capitan Hook (Del Maguey mezcal, pineapple, banana liqueur, Luxardo cherry liqueur, lime, $17, $15 during happy hour). This was smoke forward with light pineapple and banana flavor. I had the Hula burger ($18) which was very good with a lot of different flavors from the various toppings. It came with a decent amount of fries, and was a filling plate. She had the pineapple bowl fried rice and added with BBQ pork ($17 + $5 for pork add-on). It is served in half of a scooped out pineapple and had a good amount of rice with pork and green onions on top. It had a good mix of teriyaki sauce on the rice and BBQ sauce on the pork. Next, I had the Rum Runner (coconut and blended dark rums, banana liqueur, raspberry, grenadine, pineapple, orange, lime, $18, $15 during happy hour). It was very pineapple and coconut forward which overpowered all of the other ingredients. She also had the Let That ManGo (white rhum agricole, coconut, mango, lemon, $18, $16 during happy hour). The primary flavors here were mango with some grassiness from the agricole. We were here from about 6pm to 8pm on a Wednesday night and it was pretty dead with only a few other people in the place the whole time. They do have a stage in the back with live music acts, so it is probably busier when there is entertainment and on weekends. Our first bartender was Alex who was nice but we barely talked with him. Manager Pedro took over the bartender duties later on and we had a great time chatting with him. Service was great from both of them. The drinks are a few dollars above average, but if you come during happy hour, the drinks are several dollars off. Happy hour is currently all day Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday, and Thursday through Saturday from 5pm to 8pm. The food was good, the drinks were ok to good, and the atmosphere was great. Normally, this would probably be a one and done, but I really liked the build and would like to come back when it is busier, maybe on a weekend.
