I wanted to eat fish tacos .......i went to this location in Panorama city...i thought everything was good ....parking is ok ....so i order 2 fish tacos and 1 shrimp taco ....with everything on it .... 1 thing I noticed a young lady working as the cook ... I waited around 10 threw 15 minutes..... Everything was ok until I got home .... The 2 fish tacos had soooooooooo much salsa on them that you couldn't see the fish ...with extra secret sauce ....plus the shrimp taco only had 3 small shrimp on it with secret sauce all around the taco .......this is 1 of the worst fish and shrimp Tacos that ever had in my life .... First time at Poncho's Taqueria and so glad I've visited and tried this spot. This little spot is a hidden gem in the San Fernando Valley, Van Nuys area. Thanks to our friends who recommended us to try Poncho's Taqueria out. Plenty of parking spots available for use. There are also tables and chairs outside for dining. Ordered food for pick up on a Saturday afternoon. Our order consists of Loaded Nachos, 2 Chicken Plates, Asada Plate, Breakfast Burrito, Birria De Res Bowl and 3 Quesataco. Poncho's Taqueria did not disappoint. Great customer service and friendly cashier. The portions of food servings in each item ordered were of good size and enough. Loaded Nachos was delicious with carne asada, guacamole. sour cream and salsa to name a few. The 2 Chicken Plates we ordered were fulfilling. The chicken was tender and not overcooked nor undercooked. The Birria De Res Bowl were plentiful and meat was tender and flavorful as well as the Asada Plate. I'm not one to leave mid reviews, but the food was meh. I ordered two fish tacos, two quesabirria tacos and the nachos. The fish had no seasoning and was bland, the sauce was also just ok. The birriataco was a 3.5/5, not worth the hype. And the side of nachos for $7, were burnt. I did like the spicy red salsa if that counts for something. I won't be going back. I ordered 2 asada burritos, some birria and asada tacos as well, I love that they serve them on homemade tortillas, makes a huge difference on flavor. So I got the thumbs up from the doctor to go ahead and order my DoorDash. I picked this place because it was happy hour and they had a deal on tacos. I end up getting for shrimp tacos and substituting it for the homemade tortillas which we're supposed to be flour, but they came out a little different so just keep in mind. The homemade tortillas are really not flour. They're more like corn. They're a little bit thick other than that this place is amazing. I've been going here for years. Their speciality is popular for a reason. The quesobirria tacos are the best in the valley period! They sear the tortilla perfectly. It's not soggy and it holds its shape. The birria consomé itself is something I come back for by itself. You can definitely taste the cloves. I reccomend asking for more lime. They've definitely improved a lot service wise! More than a year ago it took my and my friends more than 20-30 minutes to get our food. It was really off putting but the birria was enough to come back and I live really close. Last couple times I've gone this year and late last year they have improved to less than 15 minutes depending on the size of the order. Their baja fish and shrimp tacos taste just like the ones alongside baja california (i know since i did a roadtrip along that coast) If you like fish tacos it's a must try!! Decided to order off poncho's taqueria today to try something new. I got the asada burrito (-beans) and hubs got the burria beef burrito. Both were a decent size for $13. You can customize and remove or add certain things. I added sour cream for an additional 0.50$. It states there's onions and cilantro In the burrito but I really had like a pinch of each which was kinda sad. The asada was also SUPER dry and everything just fell apart as I took each bite. Salsa was bland a but love that it had some spice but not overbearing spice. Also love that they gave a couple of radishes and a piece of lemon. Overall, it wasn't bad. It's refreshing and tastes authentic and homemade. Their quesabirria tacos are absolutely SCRUMPTIOUS!! 10/10 recommend them. The tacos have a nice cheese pull, the beef is tenderly cooked and well seasoned. Their consomé hit the spot too. However, I was extremely disappointed with their Baja fish taco. The taco Lacks seasoning. the tortillas were falling apart and cold (I don't think they warmed up the tortillas prior to assembling the taco). I honestly couldn't even finish the taco because the taste wasn't pleasant to me. I paid $23.00 for four items, it was almost worth the price if the fish taco hadn't been so unpleasant. For about 3.50, The fish taco was fresh, juicy and flaky on the inside, crispy on the outside. The shell was soft but hardy enough to hold the contents together. It was topped with shredded cabbage, tomatoes, avocado, and a special sauce. Absolutely delicious. The shrimp was very similar and was just as fresh and delicious. The quesotaco was amazing and as the board boasts, super cheesy! The meat was flavorful, tender, and addicting. The dish comes with a birra dipping sauce which was a nice compliment.
