Do you ever just get a really nice vibe from a place? Well I had this here, often when you walk in to small stores everyone stops talking and looks at you but that didn't happen here. the pharmacist said 'good afternoon' and asked could they help before the door even closed! It's the little things that make big differences. I couldn't imagine this chemist would ever get too busy. It sells the usual over the counter medicines as well as bathroom essentials such as shower gel, soap and shampoo. Don't expect huge stocks of things but do expect a warm welcome!

This works out for my because my mums a Ceoliac and asking for bread in a chemist makes me look nuts! They sell a lot of products, from beauty to hygiene to house hold cleaning products. They need to make their money from as many things as possible to survive the threat of the big chain stores. It's an old school pharmacist in that people come in and talk to him before they go to the Doctor, and he usually knows exactly what they need for their ailments.

I've been in before to pick up some hayfever medication and stock up on shampoos and the likes. Although the shop is a little cramped for space and cluttered, they offer some good bargains like toothpaste for 99p and discounted haircare products. They also stock a limited amount of make-up and the usual things you would expect in a pharmacy. Anytime I've been in, the staff were always very helpful and the place always seems to be busy with locals popping in to pick up prescriptions. I'm all for community pharmacies, you really can't compare the advice you get from a community pharmacist who knows their customers as opposed an overworked and burned out chain store pharmacist from Boots or the like who aren't as familiar with the medical history of their customers.

My first experience of the chain was within Queen's Student Union where I would gleefully walk in with a full student loan and come out brandishing goods from perfume, tweezers and face packs. I found it difficult to control my purchasing needs when I entered this store as everything was really cheap and scented beautifully. However, I have mastered the art of spending wisely which helps as my nearest store is located on the Ormeau Road just a few minutes from my house. This particular Medicare has much more to offer than the smaller unit in Queen's Student Union as it has a full pharmacy counter to deal with all illnesses and drug prescriptions. Yet, because of its greater range and pharmacy counter this store can be particularly busy so do expect a queue. Same goes if you're planning to purchase something you don't want others to see...could be embarrassing when most residents of the Ormeau Road can see what's in your shopping basket.

There have been a few…read moreMooney stores but they always move to biggest locations to cater for the increased numbers coming in and using them. The latest branch has been open for around 7 years and it really is quite a big store for a local chemists. It offers a huge range of products from toiletries to all kinds of over the counter medication from quit smoking aids to cold and flue remedies. They have recently started selling alternative therapies in one section (anyone else see the irony?). It's nice that family run businesses can still thrive in some parts of the city and Mooney's is certainly a shining example. It's always an advantage to go into a chemist and have a choice between paracetamol or dragon root for the treatment of your cold!!

Friendly counter staff who go out of their way to help you. Brian, the Pharmacist, is professional and helpful, at all times. He offers sage advice and is very patient; he deserves a 'Pharmacist of the year Award', if he doesn't already have one. The prescription delivery service is great for the elderly and disabled customers. Kenny, is such a pleasant delivery driver. He always has a smile and even though he is very busy, he always makes time for a quick chat. Such a credit to the company. All these things make Grahame's pharmacy a friendly, community based pharmacy, offering that personal touch, yet, thriving in a competitive market and in my opinion, leaving the likes of 'Boots' out in the cold. This is my honest opinion, I use the chemist, at least twice a month. In a world were most staff in chemists, are in a rush a lot of the time, don't even give eye contact or are buzy chatting to a work colleague, I just thought it was important to give praise, were praise is due. I'd never, ever paid a visit to Fullarton Pharmacy, which is really quite strange given how many…read moretimes I've driven past it and thought 'I must go in there one day'. Yes, that's how sad I am... Yesterday, when I popped into St George's Market (which I'd never been to either...I really need to get out more), I remembered that I needed some hairspray (yet again), and instantly thought of Fullarton's. So, in I went. It's quite a strange little pharmacy, with both an entrance from the market itself and Oxford Street, and it's also pretty small. There wasn't really anything of interest, so I got on with the matter in hand and picked up some Pantene hairspray for a respectable £1.99. Bargain. The staff were exceptionally pleasant, and I was served straight away by a third staff member who saw me approaching and noticed that his two fellow workers were busy with prescriptions. Very nice chap indeed. Well, it certainly did its job, so I can't really complain. As to whether or not I'd go out of my way to visit again is another question, but I figured it's more for handiness' sake. Not half bad.
