Ten of my coworkers and I met at the Ponderosa for lunch on a Saturday. We were seated in a large room that was a converted greenhouse. Our server also covered another big group in that same space. She did very well with the order taking and food delivery handling everything with competent efficiency. Did have help from Jim (the owner) with the serving, however. The food was wonderful! Nothing fancy, just well-made, hot from the kitchen American diner grub. We had chicken fried steak, Philly cheese steak sandwiches, Swiss cheese mushroom burgers, Jim's excellent chicken sandwiches, Navajo tacos, and entree salads. I added onion rings (some of the best I've ever had) and a well-made strawberry shake to my order. Service was amazing. The chicken fried steak with country gravy was one of the best I've had. The runny instant potatoes were a total let down. I asked before I ordered if the potatoes were real and I was told it was half potatoes and half instant. They were very runny instant potatoes. I asked for a baked potato instead and it was good but then when we went to pay we had been charged for it. I told her we shouldn't be charged for it and she took it off the check. The ponderosa burger was amazing along with the sweet potato fries. If the restaurant could make a change, it would be real mashed potatoes. read more

Small town nursery turned restaurant-and you'll likely run into someone you know here. This is a great little gem in a quiet little town. If you find yourself as a visitor, be sure to stop by for a delicious home cooked meal. You won't find trendy menu items or a wine list (no alcohol served here) but you'll find a collection of local favorite recipes and stick-to-your-rubs good food. There is a small dining area as well as a patio and another dining area in the garden. The staff is friendly, likely local high school students learning the ropes of their first jobs. Be sure to check out the one of a kind art in on the walls. A talented artist is showcased, I kind of regret not taking home a piece with me. Maybe on my next visit! read more

Great local restaurant in Huntington UT. We were so excited to be able to sit inside and eat a meal with all that is going on and being from Idaho, our restaurants are still on lockdown!!. Food was great, service was good but young waitstaff. We weren't asked it we would like to sit outside in their beautiful garden area. That would have been fabulous. Also we would have enjoyed a little time between our appetizers, salad and main meal. I didn't even take a bite of my salad when my delicious citrus salmon was brought to my the table. Food service timing can be improved but all in all a very pleasant dining experience and much appreciated. Great prices as well!! read more

Heading back to SLC from some exploring in the desert. It's Sunday and the first town we hit around lunchtime is Huntington. A quick check of Yelp for open restaurants doesn't show much, so we keep rolling through town and expect that we'll have to wait until Price. At the edge of town we see a bunch of cars in the Ponderosa Grill parking lot, but Yelp shows them as closed. We decide that Yelp must be mistaken so we flip around and pull in. As we approach the door we see two signs saying "CLOSED". We figure it must be a family party or private event, so we retreat to the truck. As we are loading back up, we hear and see a young girl say "come back in", with her mother behind her. As the Mother approaches she beckons us to come back in, that they are having a family party but would love to have us come join them. My buddy and I look at each other and say why not. As we enter the restaurant we are warmly greeted by Jim, the owner, by a "thank you for coming back" as we are lead into the kitchen and to a huge vessel of turkey pot roast with homemade rolls on the side. They fill some fountain drinks for us as we load up and find a table in the corner. Family continues to arrive and soon we figure out that they are celebrating a couple of family birthdays. They check on us a couple of times and eventually one of the sons comes to offer us our choice of cake. We were absolutely blown away at the hospitality and love shown to us, as a couple of strangers who wandered into a closed restaurant. After filling our bellies with a wonderful home cooked meal we chatted with Jim for several minutes and got to know even more how genuine and humble this man and his family are. This was a true homerun for humanity at a time when the world was freaking out about the corona virus. We will always stop in for a meal anytime our travels take us through Huntington. You too should stop and meet Jim and his family. They will treat you as guests, and take good care of you. Thanks Jimbo! read more

We went to the Ponderosa Grill for the first time today. It was worth the drive from Price. I had a crispy, fresh BLT sandwich with a side salad and my husband had clam chowder in a warm bread bowl. Both were delicious. Looking around the room at other customers' plates, I saw several other things I would like to try the next time we come. The generously portioned, homemade desserts were displayed in an old fashioned turning carousel and they looked so tempting. Maybe we'll indulge in one or two of those next time. read more

Been here only twice but each time didn't disappoint. Ribeye steak was delicious, the French dip was excellent as well. And they have the real old fashioned flake ice which makes Pepsi taste even better read more
