Cute spa tucked away near the Wells Fargo Bank. I was in town and wanted to try out their saunas. I opted for the one outside. It was private and tranquil. I loved how hot mine was. It was a 60 min session at 157 degrees. I forget the brand of sauna but it was not the Sunlighten Brand but it was great. The one indoor was in a hallway so it doesn't seem as private but looked nice. I look forward to my next session when I'm visiting my parents. read more

I had a wonderful 90 minutes massage by a new male massage therapist on 1/7/24. I think his name is Josh, but not sure as I don't see him on the list of employees. This was only my 2nd time at Pono getting a massage and this one was great!! The amount of pressure was nice and deep, really relaxing to my body and mind. Honestly, it's kind of hard to put into words why the massage was that amazing, but it felt like I was getting a massage from someone that truly mastered the art of being a masseuse. While I love a cheap $30 foot massage, I'm willing to pay the higher prices for better ambiance (not necessarily a better massage). At Pono, the higher price captured both - a high quality massage and a pristine and relaxing ambiance. I booked a massage with Juan Chavez a couple Fridays ago for 3pm. I was experiencing some pain in my shoulder and wanted to try a massage. I showed up at 2:45 to check in. At 3:07 I was told the staff could not get ahold of my massage therapist. I was merciful and patient, as this can happen with an appointment-based business. At 3:15, I was told Juan Chavez had been located and he was still 45 min away. Fine. I was forgiving and left and came back around 3:50. While I was waiting in the front lobby, I overheard a staff member suggest to, what I presume to be the owner or manager, they offer me a 20% discount for the mishap. The owner/manager responded "no, let's give her 100% off if she has to wait any more". It was 4:15 when Juan Chavez finally rolled in. I, again was forgiving and kind and let him know I understand these things happen as he apologized for the wait. I told Juan where the problem area was and he spent about 6 min on that area during the massage. The other 84 min were spent pressing on, mostly bone, not muscle. At the end of my 90 min "massage", the staff member only gave me the 20% discount. I will not be returning here. I will also be letting other people know about my experience. read more

I found Pono Wellness Spa from a friend's Facebook status. She said nothing but great things about it, so I had to see for myself. My birthday was coming up and figured it would be the perfect opportunity to do so. Well, the feeling was mutual. I had an amazing spa treatment at Pono Wellness Spa, and I wouldn't have spent my birthday any other way. The facility was beautiful, the staff members were wonderful, and the spa services and amenities were seriously top notch. Pono Wellness Spa was surprisingly so much bigger inside than it appeared from the outside. The indoor space consisted of a lounge/waiting area with recliner chairs, a locker room, a couple of changing rooms with full showers, a couple of rooms for the salt baths, and a few rooms for the massages. There was an outdoor sauna in the spa's garden lounge area. The spa itself was definitely done in beauty way. I liked how intentional the art and other decor were as they related to the Hawaiian theme. Many of the merchandise sold from Pono Wellness Spa were even made from Hawaii. The rooms were all clean and well maintained. The changing rooms particularly had all the amenities I needed. The spa provided complimentary shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, a wall-mounted hair dryer, and sterile hair brushes. I didn't want to sell myself short, so I booked the "Pono experience," which included the massage, soak and sauna. What was great was that the Pono Experience was also discounted at a special price for first-time clients. I was actually shocked by how affordable all 3 services were with this package and found it to be well worth every penny. I highly advise any other first-time clients to go for this full package service as well! You have the flexibility to choose in whichever order you want to receive the services. I consulted with one of the staff members when I scheduled the services. I went with her recommendation, and I would agree that it had the right flow. I got the soak first, the massage next, and then the sauna. The soak was a great kicker as it helped me ground and center. Prior to the soak I was asked by the receptionist to choose one of the bath salts infused by different types of Hawaiian essences. I got to smell each one and chose Pikake, which had a lovely floral scent. (I later found out that Pikake is jasmine.) When I finished the soak after 20 minutes, I felt deeply relaxed and was so ready to lie on the massage table. My massage therapist was Liz, and she did a phenomenal job. She incorporated different things into the massage, such as hot stones and compresses, and her technique was cool as the strokes felt like fluid, continuous motions. The massage was so good that I was asleep during a majority of it. I also appreciated her genuine kindness. She gave me after-care instructions to support my ongoing physical health and well-being. Lastly, the infrared sauna session just felt so detoxifying. The spa was set to a specific temp but could be adjusted accordingly. I spent those last 15 minutes in the sauna meditating on the whole experience and giving gratitude for another trip around the sun. Special thanks to the staff members for their hospitality and professionalism. They really took care of me and ensured that I felt comfortable at all times. The staff members were especially great communicators. Up until my spa date I called a couple of times to reschedule or ask questions about my upcoming appointment. They were always responsive, helpful, and even exuded friendliness over the phone. My wife and I went in for a couples massage using a very old paper gift certificate that we received a few Christmases ago. Our massages were both great but when it came time to pay the receptionist told us that the gift certificate we had was no good and they only accepted the plastic gift cards. I was upset because the person that had bought us the gift certificate was out the $200. We paid and left a message for Bonni (the owner) and when she called she was very apologetic and was able to refund my charge and also dropped off the remaining balance from the original gift certificate in cash to us in person! She also included two free sample products. This is the epitome of a business owner going above and beyond for her clientele. I was so impressed and taken aback by her kindness. This place is the best! i will never go to another spa, i am from gilroy and was looking for a spa to take my mom to for her birthday. i called Pono wellness spa and they let me know there were no open spots for the day of my moms birthday. (it was last minute so i completely understood) the staff said i would be put on the cancellation list and if anything opened up they would give me a call. They did not disappoint, i was called by multiple ppl to make sure i got in the day i needed! also, while i waited for my mom in the front the staff was answering all of my questions i had about a pain relieving cream, she even brought out samples and took the time to explain which one she recommends! My wife and I were introduced to this small paradise in Morgan Hill by our friend. She gave us a couple's massage gift card for 90 minutes. It was a bliss! The staff members were very professional. They were experts in their own right. We were handled respectfully and professionally. Compared to most private spas and massage centers in Monterey and San Francisco, this tiny paradise doesn't inflict you that bitter "rich people only" exclusivity. Second time with Noell, for 90 min massage. Parts of my treatment created slight soreness for 24 hours, but soon resulted in more freedom of movement without restriction or pain. She was excellent at scanning my muscles and locating "knots" constricting my flexibility and range of movement. This practitioner knows what she is doing! I was able to drive myself 300 miles on my own, a feat I didn't have the confidence that I could considering my chronic back pain. Really grateful to have access to her expertise! read more

This was my first professional massage and I'm so glad I came here. Everyone was so nice and helped me to understand what I was doing! I feel a bit silly posting this review because I feel like it will get lost in the hundreds of other fabulous reviews. However, I LOVE this spa. I live in San Jose and will drive down during rush hour traffic just to get one of their massages. The team that work there (front desk to service providers and of course Bonni the owner) are all fabulous! One thing to consider is they book out fast! So really need to book your appointments ahead of time. So impressed with each massage therapist there. They are all equally, and uniquely talented.
