What's there not to like about this city? The people are nice the food is very good and your only a few minutes away from some of the most beautiful landscapes on the planet. Most places are within walking distance if you are in the city center. I did not get to venture into the Atlantic Ocean here because the weather overall was on the cooler side during my visit. On the other hand, it was perfect walking around weather which I did plenty of. So, if you plan on visiting, don't forget to bring some very comfortable shoes for walking. The city center is filled with many great notable restaurants well worth your visit. There is always something going on here. I was lucky enough to arrive during a Catholic festival season that included food and plenty of free entertainment. The festival was sponsored by the parishes around the island. If you people watching is your thing, then, you would not have been disappointed because at sundown many locals came out for the free entertainment (classical music & fadu) which was very good. During the day they also sponsored a very nice parade that went right past the front of my hotel the Grand Acores Atlantico. read more
