A review from the beginning of the end of COVID. We had done a little research before coming to…read moreLocarno and this restaurant was top of the list. It did not disappoint. Featuring both a beautiful grotto with fantastic views and a rustic, lovely restaurant; diners were well spaced and attentively served. We started with the small local salami which was very nice. For main dishes we ordered off the "grotto" menu; my wife taking the Osso Buco and the Schweinhaxe for me. I'll begin with the Haxe, which was excellent. The polenta on the side was delicious and the sauce exceptional. The Haxe itself was tender and flavorful - a great rustic meal. Which brings us to the Osso Buco which was, quite simply, the best either of us has ever tasted. The meat melted in your mouth, the sauce was unbelievably delicious and the risotto accompaniment was, again, the best either of us have ever tasted. I should also point out that my wife has a degree fro the Culinary Institute of America and worked for a year at the Dolder Grand in Zurich. Surprisingly, despite the large entree portions, we decided to try desserts- a zabaione and a tiramisu. Again, one was exceptional- the zabaione - and the other - the best we have ever had. The freshness, the purity of the multiple flavors- we can only say that you must try this fantastic dessert for yourself. We consider ourselves lucky to have found this gem.
