If heading to Rimini, I would recommend eating at any of the spots on or near Viale Antonio…read moreBeccadelli. This seems to be the safest nighttime area and bustling with food options. La Casina del Bosco serves delicious piadines which to North Americans is essentially a freshly made tortilla bread with different toppings. This particular spot is also popular for drinks and has a huge patio for outdoor dining.

I made the right choice of venue. What an absolutely gorgeous outdoor cafe with charming, efficient and totally on the ball staff and the fastest service I've had since arriving in Italy. I even had a few language lessons with the waitstaff who humoured me as I practiced my very beginner Italian on them. The first thing that caught my eye and consequently ordered was piadina alla porchetta. A spectacular choice. The piadina itself was light, slightly toasty, with a nice hint of olive oil but the main attraction was the pig. Delicious, sumptuous, well seasoned porchetta made this dish a massive hit for me. And for just €5 I was suitably impressed. I happily spent a solitary hour here soaking up the atmosphere, sipping on coffee and reflecting on my delicious meal. Thumbs up from me. Next time I'll be trying their gelato desserts too. They looked delicious!

I was looking for a restaurant that will satisfy my variety of cravings and Trattoria Da Me…read moredelivered on all of them. I ate way too much and I haven't felt so full before but there were no regrets afterward. Everything I tried was absolutely delicious. My favorites came out strong from the start with the Crescentine Con Salumi E Bolognesita. The variety of meats with the puffy bread. Sooo tasty and satisfying especially when paired with the provided pickled veggies and other side. The Tortellini Soup was subtly savory and so warm and cozy to eat. The Tagliatelle Al Ragu was a solid dish with perfectly cooked noodles and a delicious ragu. The Cotoletta was very unnecessary since I was already full by this point but I figured I was on holiday and really wanted to try this scrumptious looking dish. And scrumptious it was! So good. The Panna Cotta was ideal to end the meal and it was very soft and not overly sweet. The staff were very friendly and helpful with the menu as well as a wine pairing suggestion. I was very satisfied with the suggested wine and had an overall fantastic dinner experience.

Their service was great and this is for the Nella Torre location inside the tower and close to the center. I highly recommend their cotelleta all a bolognese which is basically a huge veal cutlet with prosciutto on top with cream sauce layered over it but also get the side of onions that goes well on top of it. I forget the name of it but it's basically onions you would put on top of a hot dog at papaya king NYC for those who know what I'm talking about. Their ragu is no joke as well. I'd buy a jar of it if they sold it to bring back home if possible. A must try is also the gelati al formaggio. Frozen variety of cream with fig jam that is delish. The restaurant is nicely laid out and if your a wine drinker which I wasn't, they have tons of it on the menu. Definitely hit this spot up if you're in Bologna but remember to make an online reservation before going!

You don't get much more classic lunch break than Vecchia Malga, one of many choices in the alleyway…read morestreet off of Bologna's main square, Piazza Maggiore. There are plates of thinly sliced meats with cheeses everywhere so it's hard to choose where to go, especially if you're a couple of vegetarians like us. We made a good choice here, ordering a cheese board for one and a mixed salad. The cheese board was so plentiful that we had to re-confirm that this was just a serving for one. It was. Really generous with 6 different local cheeses of various tastes and firmness, surrounding a cup of honey which sealed the deal for us. We loved this cheese board and left referring back to it as we had cheese in other places on our trip. The salad (I mean you have to occasionally eat vegetables...even in Italy) was basic, just arugula and tomatoes, but was super-fresh. Also they brought the region's famous bread in a paper bag. Well, I don't know if "famous" is the right word, but this is the only place in the world we'd experienced the bread brought in paper bags, so sign me up for its autograph. This was a great choice for a cheese plate among the many options on this street and in the area. The cheese board especially was our favorite cheese in the whole country.

And I don't know why something as simple as tortellini in broth is so tasty, but it is the ultimate comfort food! The atmosphere was incredibly cozy on the cold and damp day we visited,. Our waiter took excellent care of us, and we enjoyed watching the butchers at work assisting customers. Tucked up in the loft with a glass of wine, and later a coffee, was a perfect afternoon!
