I stayed at Pontins Brean from 13-20 July 19 club level chalet 220. I have no clue why people are saying Pontins is bad as it is very nice there some things are needing a update but it's not as bad as people make out. It's good for what you need when on holiday. Perfect for kids loads to do with pool, go carts, parks, tennis courts, skate park and more. The some rooms don't have a sofa but have a futon that can become a bed easily. After being at John Fowler just down the road I would recommend if you have kids go to Pontins if not then John Fowler or Pontins sand bay. The park it self does need some maintenance as some bushes are in need of a haircut and some of the information signs are outdated this is the difference between old and new Pontins. Some things old Pontins did new does not like an on-site launderette (I used one in Weston called "bubbles") The entrance into the park is a little bit confusing as there are two gates but they swap without warning. The park is in a perfect place as just walk down the road and there is a track that leads to the beach. All in all Pontins Brean is perfect to have a good holiday with your partner or with the family. read more

Came across the reviews for this place on Tripadvisor AFTER we had booked. As a result, we tried to get our money back with only a week left before we went but they said it was nonrefundable. After they reassured us that everything would be clean and ready for us on our arrival, I relaxed a little. One of the duty managers even guaranteed me that they would check the accommodation personally before we arrived. I should have gone with gut feeling as the place had not been cleaned at all. We had to ask for a toilet brush, twice before hunting a cleaner down in the morning and actually doing it myself. The microwave still had the contents of the previous family dinner inside of it. I could go on but I'm sure you get the picture. When I complained, we were given a free meal ticket for four of us in the evening plus breakfast the following morning. Knowing how dirty the whole site was, it didn't fill us with confidence that the kitchen would be up to the required standards of the local EHO. I asked a member of staff what the local authority rating was (as it was displayed) and ten minutes later, after asking the duty manager, he informed us that they think it was a three (out of five). But he wasn't too sure as the manager couldn't find the certificate, he was just going on what he remembers seeing some time ago. Helpful. Had some nice times there in the past, but last time found the accommodation had become very poor. Not very well maintained at all. Entertainment was always good, and children always enjoy it. The bluecoats are always very friendly and helpful, as are most of the staff. The pool is nice, but sometimes closed with no explanation as to why, or when it will re-open. It's just accross the road from the beach. read more

Just had a Monday to Friday summer break there with the kids.Yes it`s a little shabby around the edges and is in need of some updating,which I think they are doing.But for a no thrills reasonably cheap family holiday it`s not too bad. The only real gripes I had were if you didn`t get in the entertainment hall early(as in late afternoon) then you wouldn`t get a seat.As it fills up pretty early and quickly. Also the pool is a little smaller than expected for the size of the camp,admittedly it`s free if your staying there ,and in the mens changing rooms there is nowhere to put or hang your clothes/towel whilst changing.It was a bit of a balancing act trying not to put either your clothes or dry towels on a dirty wet floor . May return again but will only be if can`t find somewhere else. read more

Very disappointed mainly because of the rooms are disgusting, not clean, nothing works and is very dated, can't hire a microwave as promised to sterilise babies bottles. the whole complex is in need of a revamp all seems dirty, kids love the activities but we won't ever return read more
