I will be full for days! Ordered their creatures Bloody Mary, with pulled pork slider, a rib and bacon. This should have been my meal, it was plenty. Ordered nachos and shrimp tacos. Nacho were huge and very good pulled pork. Shrimp tacos were good, side chips weren't great. Not sure why? Service was amazing and loved their ambiance!

Food was cold and collards were inedible. Mac and cheese was equivalent to the frozen industrial pans of mac.

Wow. Everything was delicious, I ordered a smoked old fashioned - I did expect a little more from this but it was still good. Ordered the pulled pork, Mac and cheese and sweet potato fries and this was everything and more than I wanted from a BBQ restaurant. Delicious bark on the pulled pork, service was great and it is a modern western vibe inside.

This was right around the corner and we arrived on a Sunday night. It was a bit quiet after the hectic weekend so it was easy to get a table. So- unfortunately they were out of many things due to late hour. Note to self- next visit- go early! My partner, a bbq aficionado - loved this spot! He raved about his bbq, and all side dishes. Wait staff prompt and friendly. Dessert pictured and amazing!

Great food and quiet lunch spot! The chicken was moist and the ribs fell off the bone tender. Highly recommend. They had three sauce options, mustard, sweet, and spicy. A mixture of the mustard and spicy was a perfect combination.

I really wanted to like Poogan's Smokehouse, but this one was a letdown from start to finish. The night started off a little rough when I ordered one of their mocktails and was told they were out. Not the end of the world, just disappointing. We moved on and ordered the honey cornbread as an appetizer, making it clear we wanted it out before the meal. Instead, it showed up after our entrees, which pretty much defeated the point. For the main course, we ordered the smoked turkey and the pulled chicken. The turkey was extremely dry, to the point it was hard to eat, and the pulled chicken came out cold. We also had sweet potato fries on the side, which were cold as well, and the mac and cheese tasted like something straight out of a school cafeteria. To top it off, once we finished eating, we sat for over twenty minutes waiting for our check while our server wandered around the restaurant. The only reason this place gets two stars instead of one is the pricing. If the food and service matched the price point, it could be a solid value. Unfortunately, based on our experience, this is a place I would recommend skipping.

Awesome environment, sat near the bar. Playlist was great all night. Kaley was great behind the bar.

We were craving bbq and we definitely came to the right place! Kicked off dinner with an order of cornbread and old fashioned mimosas. Amy got the pulled pork tacos, Meg had the half slab of ribs and I had wings. The portion sizes were so big we all shared and had leftovers. The dry rub on the wings and ribs was great! The sides were also amazing: legit collard greens with tangy vinegar base and big chunks of bacon. The Mac n cheese had a homemade béchamel sauce that was not too cheesy, and the Austin-style black beans and Brussels sprouts were also very tasty. Thank you, Abby, for your impeccable and friendly service. What a nice dinner! We will definitely be back.

Portions are big enough to share for two if you do the three meat platter. We did that and ordered one extra side, we were a bit sad they were out of the ribs but ordered turkey instead which was surprisingly my favorite meat on the platter after all. Tender and flavorful. Then pork and then the chicken. All very good. Sauces were just ok in my opinion. The waitress was very kind but not out of the way best service ever type of service. Restaurant is dark and smells of the delicious meats. Lots of space. Lemonade wasn't good.. tasted like powdered lemonade, that'd be my only complaint about the quality.

We stopped in for lunch during the week and were seated right away. Our server was helpful in making suggestions. When traveling, we enjoy trying regional foods, and this is where we experienced Carolina BBQ sauces. :) We split a 3-meat platter, which was more than enough. That allowed us to try different meats and sides. The mac n cheese was really good...well, everything was really good. If you like a little bit of heat, I recommend the sweet bbq sauce with a touch of the spicy. It's a great blend. (And I'm a fan of the sauces!)

Stopped here on a whim while walking around downtown and it was a great choice! They even had space to accommodate our stroller. Service was kind and attentive and the food was delicious. Nice bathrooms too! Their bbq sauce is amazing, listen to the suggestions from the wait staff on what pairs well with what. My hubby got the pulled pork and paired it with the mustard sauce and it was amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed my salad as well!

I've been in Charleston for ten years now and realized there are so many places we have not tried yet. So now we are on a mission to try new places monthly. This place, we probably won't go back and if we do it will be a long while. It cost us $101 dollars with tip for three meals. The service was subpar and the food not so great. Our Waitress was good but super busy and took a while to come back to us when needed. She tried though. She was a busy little bee flitting around to all her tables. She was a hard worker and very nice but one person can only do so much. So.. we ordered a pulled pork plate with mac n cheese and brussel sprouts. They were out of sweet potato fries, they do not offer regular fries and they did not have rice or bread. What Southern BBQ place does not have white rice or rolls? Anyway I digress.. we also ordered Nachos as an appy and I ordered Smoked Wings with Brussel Sprouts and a side salad. We then ordered a To GO Smokehouse Burger with their chips.. their version of fried potato chips. Real potatoes cut thin and round and fried. Anywho- food comes out and they gave me a mac n cheese instead of a side salad. Okay.. wait on waitress.. she finally comes over, sees mistake and brings the side salad pretty quick. Wasn't her fault, she put it in correctly. I gave the mac n cheese to my son as I am gluten free. He did not like his pulled pork. He said.. no flavor at all. The mac n cheese- no flavor. The Brussel sprouts, no flavor. I'm not sure why this place doesn't believe in adding any flavor. They depend on the sauce and smoke to carry the pork? My brussel sprouts were good but yes they were plain. Could use a little bacon and cheese in them. The wings to me were very good. Very flavorful from being smoked. They had been cooked a while as the meat was fall off the bone tender and even the bone itself was tender. The salad was fresh and crisp and I enjoyed it. The Ranch was okay. Not the best but not bad. I wanted pulled pork but they didn't have white rice or any pickles for me and those are two things I must have with pulled pork. The Nachos were just plain disappointing. The chicken was bland and I got a huge wad of fat in my mouth from it which almost made me gag. Fat will make me push a dish away faster than lightening. Also, They were supposed to have jalapeño on them but the whole plate only had one single slice of jalapeño. The vibe of the place was good. Great location and clean. So then we get boxes for leftovers and we are still waiting on the to go order which was placed when our food came out. I told her about it at the beginning of the meal when we ordered. When the to go order finally comes out, it's not to go. It's on a plate. Kitchen messed up again. So she turns around and takes it back. We finally pay and then we wait for the togo. Overall.. I wasn't too impressed and I think if you want BBQ go somewhere else. Unless you're downtown and this is all there is close by. But with so many other places to choose from, it may be a long while before we give this place a second chance. First impressions are important. We still left our waitress a %25 tip. It wasn't her fault that the food is sub par and the kitchen kept messing up. Didn't get photos of the burger and chips. I tasted a few of my sons chips. Those were excellent and they should make the Nachos with those instead. The corn chips they used were soggy and the appetizer was cold. Cold chicken and cold cheese on it. I mean, it doesn't even look appealing. It looks gross. But.. there is another Poogans downtown called Poogans Porch. We will try them next. Owned by same people but different style and different food. Hopefully they will redeem the Poogan name in our eyes. Because as for now, we'll stick to hometeam for bbq.

Pulled pork was nicely seasoned but not my personal preference of meats however it was my first time so I had to get a little taste of everything. My husband and I went to the restaurant side which is a large, redesigned Victorian style house. We went in as in Walk -Ins but reservations are recommended. The service was fast and the food was phenomenal. The beef tartare was fresh, and easily shareable. Cocktails were brought out fast and both tasted delicious. The scallops and pork chop were some of the best we've had. The only slightly disappointing dish was the corn bread which was on the more dry side, however the collards more than made up for it. The only downside to this restaurant were the flies, I felt like I was battling both large and fruit flies my entire meal. There were so many. We were inside so I'm not sure where they were coming from. Would've been 5 stars had it not been for this.

First Visit to Husk -- Worth Every Bit of the Hype…read more After hearing so much about Husk over the years, we finally made our first visit--and somehow it still exceeded every expectation. Housed in a beautifully restored historic Charleston home, Husk perfectly captures everything you love about the city's charm. From the moment you walk through the doors, the atmosphere feels warm, elegant, and inviting. We were seated upstairs in a gorgeous dining room where the tables were thoughtfully spaced, making the experience feel intimate rather than crowded. The hospitality was outstanding from start to finish, but our server, Chris, truly made the evening unforgettable. He welcomed us with genuine enthusiasm and, after taking our cocktail orders, walked us through the menu--which changes daily. Rather than simply listing dishes, Chris described each one in detail, explaining the flavors, ingredients, and preparations with such passion that you couldn't help but get excited about every option. It's rare to meet someone who so clearly loves what they do, and his knowledge and personality elevated our entire dining experience. We started with the Yellowfin Tuna Crudo and the Woodfired Oysters. The tuna, paired with delicate slices of cantaloupe, sounded like an unusual combination on paper, but somehow it was absolute perfection. Every bite was fresh, bright, and beautifully balanced. The oysters arrived warm, buttery, and perfectly seasoned--simple, yet incredibly satisfying. For my entrée, I ordered the Seared Diver Scallops served over creamed corn. I'll admit, I was hesitant because creamed corn has never been one of my favorites. But after Chris encouraged me to trust the dish--and after seeing how incredible the appetizers were--I went for it. I'm so glad I did. The scallops were perfectly seared, tender, and sweet, while the creamed corn was rich, fresh, and nothing like the version I had imagined. It completely changed my mind. My husband chose the Rabbit Roulade, which was cooked beautifully with just the right amount of spice to keep each bite interesting without overwhelming the dish. We also shared the Hearth-Baked Skillet Cornbread, and if you're debating whether to order it...don't. Just do it. It's absolutely worth it. Then came dessert. Chris walked us through several tempting options, including a mud pie, a watermelon ice pie, and a peach cobbler, along with Husk's house-made ice creams featuring flavors like Chocolate Peanut Butter and Key Lime Pie (plus a refreshing fruit sorbet). We settled on the Peach Cobbler along with scoops of the Chocolate Peanut Butter and Key Lime Pie ice creams. Every single bite was phenomenal. The cobbler tasted like summer in a bowl, while both ice creams were so flavorful and creamy that we kept passing them back and forth trying to decide which one we liked better. Spoiler alert: we never could. From the stunning historic setting and exceptional service to the thoughtfully crafted food, Husk delivered an experience that reminded us why Charleston has become such an incredible food destination. If Husk has been sitting on your "one day" list, consider this your sign. Make the reservation. Trust your server. Order dessert. And enjoy every single bite.

The hot dogs I got are fantastic and they are actually cheaper per pound than high quality ones from Publix. As a native New Yorker I could eat hot dogs every day for lunch, which is exactly what I have been doing, and they are great. I cooked up the ribeye last night, the way I usually do (sit on the counter top with salt for 30 minutes, 2 minute sear per side in a cast iron pan with a knob of butter and finished in the broiler) and it came out with a perfect crust and was so tender it came apart significantly with just my fork. Flavor was amazing too, much beefier than ribeye usually tastes. I also got a pre-made beef stroganoff which I ate for dinner, and while it wasn't my favorite stroganoff, it was really good and hit the spot.
