Interesting experience here. Overall, we really enjoyed our time. It was a very quiet Wednesday early afternoon in November, and we were the only two in the place. The concept is so cool -- champagne and beer, mixed champagne-based drinks, and some food as well if you wanted. Since we were the only two in the place, of course service was top-notch. We might have wanted things to go a little differently-- and this is why four instead of five stars -- as we really wanted to grab a drink and sit outside in the only sun that we'd see for the rest of the day. But, our server/owner had other plans for us. In the end, it was still a good time, we learned a lot about champagne and about their business ... which is not what we really set out to do, as it was less relaxing than we had in mind. I have renamed this place Mandy and Dave's because the name just doesn't do it justice for me. The Owners Mandy and Dave are so amazing and personal. We came in just looking for a place to chill and we found it here. Mandy was such a riot on the first day and had us laughing so hard. So we came back again and again. We were a group of 30-somethings on a bachelorette weekend, ready to sip champagne and support a cute little local shop recommended to us by another local. Sadly, the welcome we got felt less like "cheers!" and more like "why are you here?" One of our friends who is pregnant and asked if they had non-alcoholic wine. The staff (Lyndsey) looked at her like she'd asked for unicorn milk and with a condescending tone replied, "That's not a thing, sweetie" with a snarky wink. Yikes. Despite it is actually very much "a thing". Despite spending a good chunk of change (seriously, we did not hold back), we were met with eye rolls, short responses, and a vibe that screamed, "I'd rather be anywhere else." Honestly, I wish we had taken a picture of the cheese plate if only so we could submit it to a museum under the exhibit: "Expectation vs. Reality." It was that sad. Absolutely nothing like what is advertised. In a touristy town like this, you'd think hospitality would be the main event but instead, it felt like we were arriving at someone's angry mother in laws. We left feeling more awkward than tipsy, and that's saying something. We really wanted to love this place, but between the attitude and the underwhelming offerings, we'll be taking our bachelorette vibes (and dollars) elsewhere next time. The owners were coughing into their hands, she was wiping nose on her hand, then preparing food, picking up dirty floor mats, even licked her fingers with no gloves on, scratching her head and then started making food! She was constantly tugging on yoga pants that were 2 sizes too small and leaning over the food prep table with street clothes and no apron. Stumbled upon this place while visiting Murphy's for the day. I had never heard of it and we thought a nice cold drink would be good for such a hot day. The decor is cute. We were able to get 2 seats at the bar. We sat and were ignored for about 10 mins. Then one of the girls told us to scan the bar code to see the menu. This day they were not busy. There was a table of 6 guest and us. We were about to walk out for being ignored, and thats when the girl came to take our order. I liked the variety of drinks as well as serving Beer. It's a place I could take my husband. We ordered our drinks and Brie cheese. We got our drinks but no cheese. She forgot about it and 20 mins later we had to remind her. We sat for 20 minutes and decided to go back up to the bar to ask for help again as we saw patrons who arrived after us getting food and drink orders in. Only two staff members on today I guess they're short staffed but still not an excuse. I've given this place two chances, and both times have been a huge disappointment due to the incredibly rude owner. On our first visit, we were told they were too busy to make food--even though we could see other people being served around us. We left hungry and confused. Thinking it might have been a one-off bad day, we decided to give it another try. This time, we were seated at a table that hadn't been cleaned yet. We didn't mind and even cleared it ourselves. But when we politely asked the owner to clean it properly, she scolded us, saying we should have never been seated there--despite being seated by one of her own employees. Her defensive attitude was completely uncalled for, and when we pointed out the issue, she snapped back that they were doing the best they could, dripping with attitude. We were so put off by her nastiness that we left without ordering anything. I can't recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant experience. Mandi, thank you for your response. However, I wanted to clarify a few points regarding our recent visit to your establishment. First, we have been asked if we had reservations with your establishment before and understand the process. During our last visit, we did not specifically request the table where we were seated. In fact, your employee offered us that table before it had been cleaned, and we patiently waited for it to be ready. We sat for at least 10 minutes before waving someone down, and the only reason we asked for the table to be cleaned was that you had cleaned the table next to us, skipped ours, and moved on to clean another one. We want to stress that we were not being impatient and fully understand the challenges of understaffing or a busy weekend. What we don't appreciate, however, is how we were treated. Your staff was excellent, and we have no complaints about them. Unfortunately, it was your attitude as the owner that soured the experience. We understand that running a business can be stressful, but a rude response to customers is never acceptable. We highly respect the service industry and are typically very patient, but we would hope that in the future, there will be more tolerance and professionalism shown on your end. We were staying in the Angels Camp area to celebrate a birthday. The birthday girl loves champagne/bubbly, so how can we not add "Pop The Bubbly" as a pit stop? We arrived on a Tuesday, but it was closed even though it should've been open. Luckily we're pretty flexible, so we decided to pop back in on Wednesday after our hike. Andddd they were open! We started off with some of their cocktails, then decided to move on to some champagne flights. The cocktails were a bit sweet, but tasty! I also noticed that they also had a selection of beers, if that is preferred. Lynne was great during this whole time, constantly checking in on us and making conversation even though the place got really busy at one point. Even Dave the owner was checking on us. We ended up buying two bottles to go and some snacks! Such a great experience and the birthday girl felt so special. We hope to be back again! Also, parking is fairly easy on the street and there is indoor and outdoor seating. Had such a good time that we decided for an awesome weekend we HAD to return, March 2024. This visit was a terrible experience. We weren't greeted in, the same lady we met before was a ball of tension and rolled her eyes or just plain ignored me when I tried to ask where she'd like us to sit. I understand being busy, overwhelmed and stressed, but there were only two other small parties in the place, and she never addressed us at all. The only thing she told me was order and pay at the bar, no flights. We sat where we thought we would make it easiest on her for about 15 minutes and were flat out ignored, so we finally left. read more

Pop the Bubbly has always been one of my favorite places to visit in Murphys, until this past weekend. Everything was great until it was time to check out and pay. We had a group of 5 of us and thus, gratuity was automatically added to each of our individual tabs, which was fine. I wanted to purchase 3 bottles in addition to my tasting fee and when I realized my gratuity was calculated off my total bill including 3 bottles, I questioned it - as the gratuity should have been calculated from my tasting fee only. The owner, Mandi, agreed, apologized, and tried to try and fix the issue - while she also dropped multiple F-bombs and for "F!@K sakes" about the point-of-sale system. This is when things went sideways. After two incorrect charges to my card and two charge reversals, I asked for a copy of the receipt for the second charge reversal for my records, so I could reconcile the charges in a few days with my bank. Mandi began speaking to me as if I was a 4-year-old child, with her voice raised, pointing at the screen and she kept repeating "Do you understand? Do you understand?" She kept repeating herself, pointing at the screen, reading the charges out loud and her tone was downright rude. I was so embarrassed as I glanced around the room and saw the other patrons were all just watching this scene take place. After she barked at me for the 5th time, "Do you understand?" I told her "Please do not talk to me like that and stop being rude to me. I understand what you are saying, I simply want a copy of the receipt for the second charge reversal." She said she gave me the receipt, which I showed her I did not have. I only had two receipts, one for the first charge reversal and the original sales receipt - I still do not have the receipt for the second charge reversal. Mandi started in again about me "not understanding." I looked at her husband and co-owner David with a look of frustration and he just stood there...doing absolutely nothing to help diffuse the situation. My friends and I were in complete shock at how this situation was being handled and the condescending and unprofessional way in which Mandi was speaking to me. I wanted to just walk out and not purchase anything at this point, however, given the current issue with the other 2 charge reversals, I did not want to add a 3rd charge reversal into the mix by returning the bottles I'd already been charged for. Mandi then told me she wanted me to walk away with a good experience, so she waived my $10 tasting fee and gave me an additional 10% off the bottles I'd purchased. I will have to wait and see if these charges were done properly in a few days. I don't believe that Mandi was intentionally trying to be condescending, disrespectful, and rude - which makes the whole experience even worse because she clearly has no idea how condescending and rude her behavior actually was. As a business owner in the service industry, talking to customers like this and dropping F-bombs is never acceptable! A few hours later my friends and I were still downtown shopping and bumped into an employee of Pop the Bubbly, who happened to be onsite during the debacle I experienced earlier in the day. This employee made a point to stop and apologize to me for the humiliating and rude treatment I had experienced. This employee said they were mortified with how the entire situation was handled, and with how rude and disrespectful the owner treated me.
