Comics Import Amsterdam. CIA. Ring the doorbell…read more Two dogs will start barking at you, which is their job, but once you're inside, they are so sweet. Charles, the owner of the business, is perhaps the most interesting person we met on this trip. His business is the hub of comics imported from USA and exported worldwide. Inside are shelves and boxes, everywhere. And there is Charles, busily organizing what he can. My husband found a Dr. Strange graphic novel which he had been wanting to read, and we asked the price. Charles told us that it was the USA price but in Euros (15.99 euros). Very reasonable, I thought. So if you're looking for a specific comic in Amsterdam, for a reasonable price, this is where to find it.

The owner is super kind. My boyfriend asked him a ton of questions and he patiently answered all of them. Collecting comics started out as a personal hobby of his, and then he started helping others acquire comics, and eventually it eventually grew to a shop. You'll find a lot of niche books you won't find elsewhere. As someone currently learning Dutch, I was thrilled to find manhua in Dutch (especially since that doesn't seem to be a thing anymore). The book prices are insanely affordable. The next time you're in the area, I recommend checking them out. You may just find what you're looking for, and if not, maybe something new to enjoy!

Three floors with books stacked floor to ceiling on bookshelves with 10-12 shelves each. They even have a staff recommendation area, which was fun to peruse. Excellent organization of available books, separated nonfiction and fiction (also separated into genre). The owner was very knowledgeable and patient and kind. Ahead of me in line, he listened to a gentleman who was eager to tell him about the books he's read. Then he helped the next lady to find fiction in Morocco, even suggesting several authors to look up. I bought a fiction book that looked interesting (my stack of books to read grows faster than I can keep up--it's awesome). If you're in Amsterdam, this is a great place to visit to find a book to enjoy as you drink. coffee, between people watching, of course! Highly recommend!!

I love the layout and the feel (and smell) of a used bookstore and this one did not disappoint. The sci-fi/fantasy section was wonderful and I wish I had more time to peruse, though I did find a nice paperback for the flight home. The person working, Fred (I think that was his name) was pleasure to converse with (pic attached). Again, I wish I had more time. Definitely recommend to anyone who visits the city and loves to read.

If you are visiting Amsterdam and are looking to purchase souvenirs that qualify for VAT back,…read moreavoid Tinkerbell toys. Before I go into depth as to why, I recommend going to Goochem where the customer service was friendlier, more helpful, and most importantly, a place where you will receive the proper documentation to claim VAT back.   We reached out to Tinkerbell Toys in advance of our trip to ensure that they had the inventory of Ostheimer toys we wanted and would provide the appropriate documents to claim VAT back. They indicated that they did and so we made a trip to the store to purchase a good amount of Ostheimer animals as Christmas gifts for kids. Upon our departure from Amsterdam, we were denied a customs stamp for the purchase from Tinkerbell Toys because the receipt was not itemized with detailed descriptions of the purchased items.   When we returned home, we contacted Tinkerbell toys and spoke with Gerrit, who was surprised we were denied. When he offered no solution, I reiterated my disappointment and displeasure to which he responded with "What do you want me to do?" I replied with a sensible solution: return the tax amount back to us. We felt this was fair since it was the failure on the store's part to follow proper protocol when taking part in the VAT program to provide their foreign customers with the correct documentation for them to receive the money due back to them for the purchases made.   I did not receive a reply for 2 days after being in constant contact with him. After following up, I received the following reply:  "This is the busiest time of the year and our shop is more important  then mails. You act as if I knew that my description on the receipt was not sufficient. That was not the case. I learned that afterwards from the taxfree company. I am very sorry for you but in this case I can not be responsible for you missing the tax refund."   We strongly feel the store is at fault because they failed to adhere to the rules and regulations required of a VAT program vendor. At this point, it is all about the principle of the issue. It is no longer about the getting the money back but with how this situation was handled. Not only did they fail to provide proper itemized receipt for VAT back, they did not take accountability for their error. It has been an extremely unpleasant customer service experience. We only hope that this feedback informs potential patrons and also prompts Tinkerbell Toys to take the corrective action to provide proper receipts with detailed descriptions.

It is the cutest little toy shop. Everything at Tinkerbell is top notch. It is sort of the anti-mega toy store. The toys at Tinkerbell bring it back to the fundamentals. Use your brain and use your imagination. Many of the toys here are simple and made of blocks or are of the scientific type. Learn to build things and learn how the world works. I bought some art cards, post cards, mini music boxes, and some Amsterdam trinkets (a little wooden clog keychain with my initial). They have all sorts of fun stuff from cake and hamburger jewelry rings to ceiling projection lamps that put the night sky in your bedroom. We were pressed for time but one could easily spend more than a half hour at Tinkerbell browsing. It's sort of magical. And don't forget to take a picture with Tinker Bubbles Beer outside! He gets dressed in different outfits depending on the season and holidays! ***** Tinkerbell heeft uitstekende artikelen voor cadeaus en educatief speelgoed voor kinderen. Er zijn vele boetiekjes in de buurt en Tinkerbell is niet te missen! Het is de schattigste kleine speelgoedwinkel. Alles in Tinkerbell is top.
