I was happy when this location finally reopened. We only ordered once from the other Ocala location and everything about it was awful. My first visit was shortly after they reopened, on my way home from my endo appointment. The second time, hubs ordered and picked up the food, while enjoyed the food lol. When I visited, the inside looked clean and tidy. They were really busy and I still had to wait, even though I placed a mobile order prior to arriving. It has been years since I was actually in a Popeyes and noticed there was not a self serve area that included the Cajun Sparkle so I had to request it when I received my order. The staff were not bubbly but also were not rude. Probably because they were constantly hustling. I finally received my order after waiting 20 minutes and everything was correct. When hubs went to pick up our food the other time, the food quality was decent but not as good as the first time, which was probably due to later evening hours. I usually order the blackened chicken tenders, which always take 30 minutes. It does not matter how far in advance I place the order, it is never ready when it says it will be ready. read more

I am at a rehab center for full hip replacement. I ordered from popeyes online. Asked for 3 different sauces which is included in price. Also received popcorn shrimp instead of tenders. Dipping sauce were not included in order. Called Poland they said to call Doordarshan for a refund. Doordarshan said it wasn't their responsibility but Popeyes. Popeyes were called again an said there was nothing they can do. I will never use Doordarsh again and doubt if will buy anything from popeyes. Oh stop Bluto, this is just a heart warming review of memories for all the times I ate here with my Uncle Eddie, when I was his Swee' Pea. I'm not sure if Popeye's started in the south, but my Uncle Eddie lives in Ocala, Fl. and every time we visit Walt Disney World we have to tack on a few days to visit him. He's just as sweet and kind as could be, always picked us up at the airport and then got us to WDW. He had the neatest truck, it was huge and had a full back and front seat and two tanks. We first watched as he would make us sweat with running on fumes and then magically switched over to the other gas tank. However, Uncle Eddie's idea of taking everyone out to eat was always driving into the parking lot of this Popeye's. Even though I ate here several times with him and the family, the first time was my first Popeye's experience. What even made me think of this is my recent visit to a Popeye's in route to my mother's house, on the Pa. Turnpike. Anyway that is another review. Popeye's as we all know is a chain and they have been around for years. In recent years they have been confusing us with different signs and names for their chicken and biscuits. He would let us all order whatever we wanted and I always got the same 2 pc. fried chicken dinner, mashed potatoes with gravy and cole slaw. It isn't the best fried chicken dinner I had ever had, but oh how I really liked enjoying it with Uncle Eddie and how I loved Popeye's for making Uncle Eddie happy. The time was mid afternoon on Saturday. Only the drive thru was open. We waited at least ten minutes for the only car in front of us to have their order taken. Only one person in the car. When we got to the speaker at least five minutes passed before someone talked and then they said they would be right back. After waiting another ten minutes nobody ever came back on. There were five cars behind us by this time. I love popeye chicken but we drive too far to Belleview when we're craving for it. February they opened one here in Ocala. We order to go for (2) 3 pcs chicken, biscuit, red beans rice and extra rice. When we came home and check the food they short us with extra rice, one red beans rice (supposed to be two) and biscuits. Today, we tried dive thru, we stay in the window for a couple of minute waiting for our food, we got our food and checked them before leaving. Just went through drive through had to place my order 3 times because they were playing around having 3 different conversations at one time, I asked mixed chicken for spicy and regular and when I got to the window I had to tell them the sides a 4th time. Consistently wrong. I give this place a shot once a year just to see if there's any improvement because their chicken isn't bad. Every year like clockwork they royally screw up an order. We're not talking about a complicated order just something easy and off the menu. Today I ordered a two dine for 8.99. It should consist of five pieces of chicken two biscuits and two sides. The lady taking my order through the drive-through asked if I wanted my five piece chicken original or spicy which I answered spicy. I then told her I'd like my sides to be green beans and coleslaw. After giving me a price I drove around, paid her and was handed a bag before being sent along. I wish I could say to my surprise but it's what I expected, I opened the box and found four pieces of original chicken with one biscuit, coleslaw and red beans and rice. I have been on a restricted diet for a few days, no heavy fats. I stopped by Popeyes because it was a convenient stop. I knew that I couldn't eat fried chicken so I scanned the menu for something baked, there was nothing. So I ordered red beans and rice and the flounder fish sandwich, the fish sandwich was the lightest fat choice available. I had tried the red beans and rice before but never the flounder fish sandwich, so given what I had experienced with fast food fish sandwiches in the past I didn't expect much. The service was pretty fast and trouble free. The fish sandwich was surprisingly excellent, big filet that had just the right amount of breading. The bun was a little buttered it seemed, not what I preferred but there was not much butter, so there was no issue. As far as taste, the sandwich was the best that I have had, real fish taste, a couple pickles, just the right amount of tartar sauce. I generally don't like fast food fish sandwiches because they seem to hang around in my stomach for some reason, but Popeyes fish sandwich was an exception, it tasted great and I was able to digest it well. I will be eating more of Popeyes fish sandwiches when am in a mood to eat fast food. read more

I took a day trip to Silver Springs today. In the past I really liked Popeyes chicken. Not ANYMORE! Me and my wife ordered chicken tenders, Cajun fries and a small drink. I have never been so disappointed. I'll make this "short and sweet". The chicken tenders were so heavily breaded that they were nearly inedible. I peeled off most of the breading on them and found that the tenders were nothing more than a "ribbon" of chicken no more than 1/8 in thick, about like a strip of bacon. Seriously, I'm not exaggerating at all and so heavily coated that it honestly was difficult finding the chicken! Gross and disgusting. Next up, the Cajun fries. The fries were so over cooked they were nearly burned. Picture this : every fry was so well done that there was literally "no potato" in them, basically a hollow tube....all of them! On the good side. The biscuit was fine as was the Coke. For two, 3 tender dinners with one side, (the Cajun fries) it came up to $17.74 Again, I have always raved over Popeyes chicken and I'm not being a bit unfair. DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU! read more
